11. Hi BC-ers I have a daughter living and working out in the USA and am wondering If she was to purchase me a Bass for a Christmas present would she have to declare it for import duty when bringing it home back to blighty? Basically what I’m asking is has anyone purchased a bass whilst out in the USA and brought it home and if so what’s the deal, has to be legal etc, any advice would be welcome. All the best Chris

 13. Have a Spooky Bump My Ray is 5/6/90 honey sunburst too, although with a 3 band eq and a bullet truss, i would have thought yours was older than mine http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=108869 Good luck with the sale, great bass. All the best Chris

 16. Blimey i didn't see that section...doh, thanks for that.
 17. Sounds a bit daft asking this seeing as I have played bass for a while but after a break I have been getting back into playing again (mid life crises I think ) I would like to get into the theory side of things and start to learn to read music (standard notation) after swerving that side of things in the past. So I Just wondered if anyone has some recommended resources for learning the above mentioned. All the best Chris
 18.
Adam Clayton is the best bass player in U2. I'm not a fan of his or the band, but they do what they do well, within their own niche. Whether you think he's a good player or not depends on your own definition of who is good and bad.
Agreed with the do what they do bit, but that goes for every player that plays within their niche, I think a lot of peoples opinions on who’s a bad player are generally biased if they dislike a certain band or genre of music or even the guys personality, however it still doesn’t make that bass player a bad one, that’s why I thought the comment was stupid, and I’m not a great lover of U2
 19.
There are two types of bad bass players: 1) Bass players who you notice. If you notice the bass player he's doing it wrong. 2) Adam Clayton.
Is it me or is this comment really stupid? or am i missing something. i notice bass players for lots of reasons, more good reasons than bad. And why is Adam Clayton a bad player? a band wouldn't go to wrong with a solid player like him, isn't Adam the one that kept the band together in the early days? if he's a bad player I'm a crap player and i consider myself being at a pretty fair level.
 20. There's a nice Sandberg JJ4 on ebay at the minute and its new, also a nice classic Jazz on Mr Shuker's website i'm sure he'll be open to a haggle on the price. As for the Sandberg, i would contact Synergy Distribution Ltd as they are the uk distibutors and they'll point you in the right direct about custom job. All the best Chris

 23.
Oh bugger I'm having a crisis That Cali JM4 in natural is right tasty - need to stop looking at it though. No matter how I cut it, just don't have the thick end of a grand to splash out on one. And that sucks. Badly. Oh, well. One day..... Ian
I bought that Natural one on Sunday from them, worth the trip to Bristol, top blokes that own the shop.
 24.
I interpret it as saying that fast, high playing and slapping is perfectly acceptable, but it must be kept under control, not be over used and should always come second to laying down the low notes.
Totally agree that's how i read it. @ truckstops post
