    IE QF2 (Disclaimer : I'm selling mine) is a bit of a midrange king, as you can focus and stucture your mids with the 4 band EQ and then sweep those with the expression pedal as you play. For a simpler thing, have you tried an SFT?

[/quote] IME because the bass boost is pre-gain, the sound turns into a farty mess if you turn the bass knob up too far.... no solid, well defined lows. I've used an original one and a latest one with the third colour scheme - not sure when v1 changed to v2 and what the difference is? sft is one of my favourites, no question, but always found it best for more middy sounds, and as a guitar OD. Always interesting how different people's experiences are!

    There are no good od/distortions, they're all rubbish. Catalinbread SFT sounds beautifully expressive in a vintagey way but is a bit bass-light and inverts phase. Darkglass B3k has a lovely natural 'edgy' sound at low gain but needs to be driven very gently to stay in 'bit of hair' territory. Also rather expensive, and can sound a little bit cartoony in high gain territory. BB preamp basically sounds good and has a nice EQ. also has the same problem about needing to be driven very gently, and it sounds a tiny bit boring. Rusty box sounds awesome but has a non-standard PSU and no separate post gain for the boost channel. Oh and it is hissy. Wren and Cuff phat phuk sounds like pure gold... but only at one specific gain setting. Those are the good ones - all the rest are even worse. And don't get me started on fuzzes....

    I've just tried it after a boss LS-2 to emulate an active bass... and although it 'behaves' it doesn't sound so good, a lot of the fun in the top end is flattened out. To be honest I've never had much joy with active basses into proper fuzzes, or putting fuzz in a blend or after other pedals - there seems to be something in the raw coupling of the pickups and the fuzz that is where the magic happens IME.

The timbre is really interesting though, so put through an EQ it's capable of some stand-out bass tones. It likes to be first in line and I imagine it would scream with rage if it came face-to-face with an active bass!. Let me know if it still sounds interesting to you and I might be able to do a quick clip. Edit : the thing that marks out the SWBD is that though it sounds off the hook, it's actually pretty 'under control'. (at least when first in the chain, and used with a passive instrument). So it gives you crazy fuzz tones without going off and doing crazy things on its own.

    To do what you describe, everyone in your band will need to be set up for stereo recording. To do multitrack recording live, you'll need either a soundcard with multiple inputs for your computer or a dedicated multi-track recorder. I prefer the first approach BUT you can get a lot of random odd problems when recording on a computer that can be very difficult to iron out, so I'd buy a soundcard second hand that I can sell again if it's not working out! What's your laptop spec ?

    SoS: Vocals are out of time in places. It's a talky vocal, but you still have to really hit the beats while maintaining the relaxed feel. The guitar seems a bit ahead of the beat too in places.... both of which make it feel a bit nervous. Agree about the backing vocals being out of tune too. I also agree that it's far from terrible!

[/quote] That's probably more flexible as the rss feed only has a little bit of info in it - I've just recently been experimenting with just grabbing the rss feeds (you just append '&_rss=1' to the end of the search URL) and looking at them together in an rss reader.
