1. Bumpthing for the weekend....
 2. Friendly transaction on Zoom's latest and greatest - wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Many thanks!

 4.
since I have a distortion that suitable and I like no point changing,
Quite right too... find one that's pretty good and stick with it... most people have to settle for that approach with women after all...
 5.
So the solution is to get something like a Tech21 pedal and add just enough dirt to your clean sound, last in the chain, and suddenly alot of the pedals that sounded a bit rubbish now sound awesome!
Agreed... a proper distortion pedal into the VT Bass is a good recipe!
I havent found a sinmgle OD pedal I like of bass at all, and the best distortion IMO is a boss MT-2 a pedal thats for guitar..........
Interesting. Many of my faves have a bass oriented design - e.g. the B3k has a blend and an EQ curve that focuses the actual distortion away from the low end; the SubLime does split-band processing; the OKKO Basstard I was trying to flog you has two cascaded gain stages and a blend, and a tone control set up for bass... I haven't tried the MT-2, but I do like the DOD american metal - has a lot of post gain bass-boost (which is another way to bassify a pedal!)
 6.
Alot of people dont realise fuzz / distortion / OD boxes were originally designed to push valve amps further into distortion - driving my VT Bass pedal with a Rat gives a growl like a huge distorted monster, but if I switch out the VT then the Rat by itsself gives a thin, weedy kind of sound. Its a cascaded gain stage kinda thing.
Very true, though a lot of modern pedals (like the VT) are designed to produce the sound of an overdriven amp by themselves. Some even do it quite well. But definitely worth being aware of which type you're holding!
 7. Drive effects sound can bad with bass because a single, hard clipping gain stage causes a buzzy sound on bass frequencies, and the perception of loss of low end. Modulation effects can sound bad as the phasing can cause loss of low end. Reverb and delay can sound bad on low frequencies as the mix can end up sounding muddy. Synth and other pitch tracking effects can sound bad as low frequencies and percussive playing techniques are harder to track. Compression effects can sound bad on bass as.... well this guy says it better than me: http://www.ovnilab.com/reviews/guitar.shtml Of course there are solutions to these problems... but the bass sounds so cool on its own that there are challenges to making and using effects in a way that enhances rather that trashes!
 8. No complaints on the quality or variety on offer but much as I want to drag myself into the 21st Century, I've yet to find the multifx I get on with... £115 posted recorded. Also see my Okko BASStard for sale.
 9. mine: Rich sounding high gainer - switchable second gain stage + classy tone controls + blend. Nice design with glowing orange dome in middle. Great condition - no box, just the pedal. £100 posted (they're about £200 new).
 10. I think I read about someone having to crawl up behind Keith Moon and inject him with something in the ankle to sort him out....
 11.
Has the Red Ripper definitely gone? Cheers
Yes, the pending has pended Sorry!
 12. Took delivery of a big muff... transaction easy as pi, and came well-padded. Very happy, Many thanks!
 13. I'll take this if Mr. Liam doesn't
 14. What the freeze does is capture a moment of sound, and then loop it round - but it does so in a very cool way - I think it must have different length cross-faded loops for different frequency bands or something, so you get a smooth organic sound. It really is very nifty - great with chords too. When you engage the freeze, it captures that sound and then fades it in with a fairly fast attack.... effectively like having a synth note with the timbre of that moment of sound. But of course before that, you would have still heard the normal attack of the bass note(s) being played.. Being able to kill the dry would be cool because you could have just the freeze sound, with no 'pluck' at all - you would 'set' the note/chord with your bass, and then engage the freeze when you wanted the sound to start. Silent Fly is reputed to be some kind of evil genius so I thought I'd ask! Still slightlly tempted by this anyway.... someone grab it, they are awesome!
 15. These are great on bass...would definitely use it if you could vary the dry mix (or turn off the dry signal)... wouldn't fancy quickly modding it before sending it out, would you?
 16.
Okay, i wanted this pedal but this bothers me. Does the zoom bypass only cause this hiss when active switch is selected, or does it always add noise to an active bass in bypass? Or have i misunderstood you?
For me I can hear a slight hiss - when I play a note - AND the switch is set to active - AND and when the unit is in bypass OR set to a patch that doesn't 'hide' the hiss. The passive / active switch is supposed to switch between low and high impedance. Maybe there's some other interaction with my equipment going on. it seems fine with the switch in passive mode (even with an active bass or boost pedal before it). There doesn't seem to be much difference in headroom between the positions. Possibly worth getting some other (maybe better-informed) opinions! I will re-iterate that with the switch to passive, the quality is spot on... no complaints.
 17. Sent an sfx signal processor Pete's way... friendly, fast and easy sale. Many thanks!
 18. Any clips anywhere? The link on http://basschat.co.uk/topic/118840-sfx-micro-black-dragon-distortion-review/ doesn't seem to go where it suggests...
 19.
Hardly touched the sides
If I'm to waste as much time as possible trying pedals I need to keep the turnover high! Yes, the day will come when I realise I need this, but that day is not today. Had to try it to find that out though so thanks!
 20. If you're an energetic player and you ever feel your amp or speakers aren't quite keeping up, this is for you. Read all about it here: http://www.sfxsound....cro_thumpinator and on t*lkbass:: http://www.talkbass....ct/1568/cat/500 Bit of a luxury for my playing / amping habits as I rarely drive my amp very hard (I like to hide!). I could just use it with the mini system in my kitchen, but I understand that these are in limited supply so... here it is! £90 posted in the UK. Sold . Thank you!
 21.
Very interested in this thing after reading the great but honest comments and reviews. How does the tuner compare to a tu2 or a korg pitch-black? Is it visible on stage and accurate?
It has 7 big LED's on the top so I don't see a problem with it being visible unless you're on a stadium stage. Maybe not quite as visible as the pitchblack plus I had but probably more visible than a TU2? As for accurate... well it agrees with my other tuners!
Is it a huge tonesuck...?
My P copy is often slightly helped by going into a buffer and it's no difference here - I prefer the sound going though the B3 in bypass to cable only. With the passive bass in general it's quite good. Not so good with an active, I get a strage hissing sound on every note (that's with the switch on the back switched to 'Active')
 22.
Radioshack sound level meter
What's the range like on this? can it do whispering and screaming?
 23. Purchased a programmable BDDI that I am very happy with. It arrived quickly and cutely packaged... no stress or fuss. Or fuzz. Because it's not a fuzz. Many thanks!
