How tall are you? If it's like, 4,2 metres then they may have a point.

One thing you might want to check is how many simultaneous outputs your old iMac could realistically push... I don't know what the deal is there, only ever do stereo in / out myself.

You've got 4 outputs on your focusrite, each of which could be an input to one of the mixer channels. The whole activity really sounds rather bogus though.

Perhaps start by just going bass > mixer (no amp), then adding the laptop (maybe without its power supply plugged in, as they can cause odd noises) then take it from there.

What was the laptop complaining about?

I'm getting some nice double-bassy tones from picking over the fingerboard. It has a nice evenness across the fretboard as well...

A bit late to the party, but having a go on one of these - fretless one with the La Bella Black Nylons. The sound is really interesting, sort of a combination of the woodiness of an upright but the sustain of a bass guitar. I agree that the pickups aren't tonally that different but they have a different feel, the nanomag having a softer attack and more bloom while the nanoflex is more punchy and detailed. I agree some of the aspects of the build seem a bit cheap but the top and instrument as a whole looks really nice. Overall I think it works well as a fretless.
