I'm pretty sure this is what's happened although it so far has only been 24hours, but no response to messages and the winning bidder has no previous on evilbay
Possibly hes away or something have had this many many many many times....pain in the butt I know but bare with it....Cannot be as bad as answering over 40 emails on a certain guitar only have none of the 113 watchers bid.....Ebay is full of wanters, wasters and tyre kickers,,,unfortunately thats life...
Gumtree & Preloved from now on for me...I just cannot afford the EB PP fee scam

    Hope it works out

  2.
Well, forgive me for speculating, given the extreme lack of info or pic in your original post... :)
There were pics..the server change here made them unopenable.now they will not even upload. :) ..You did not speculate, you told me what you expected me to have.....and you were incorrect.
It is a very rare slide guitar,in fantastic condition...Shame I cannot play the damn thing......and I have tried...Horses 4 Courses.

Its an extremely rare Acoustic slide guitar and Gretsch supplied the dating info,it is suprisingly similar in size to a Gibson SJ,but has a fretless and inlaid neck & brass nutt as standard fittings,I even have the hardcase..
Pictures were on here but seem to have disappeared, shame it is a thing of beauty. As an aside it was suggested that Fred Gretsch initially had guitars made by other makers and that this could have been by Regal of Chicago or Harmony.....all I can say is its in amazing condition for 75+ years of age
If you pm me an email address I will happily forward you some pics

Additional if you look on EBAY USA theres a similar one in crap condition for $4995 reduced from $7000,mine is superb

  4.
Serial 1003 dates it to 1946. I'm guessing you have a standard production "Gretsch Electromatic".
Most Gretsch lap steels were made for them by Valco BTW.
    Got a photo?
5.
And they just keep coming! Have you got a loft full of this stuff or have you just done a job on Vintage & Rare? :) Don't try & tell me you got this one from the tip!

Another remarkable piece there - I don't think I've ever seen one of these outside a Gruhn's guide. :)

    Jon.
Hi Jon

Its the loft full scenario......and because this house has less room the loft requires building in....hence loads of these old things will be going to auction or sale, only my old faithfulls will be staying...

  6.
It's the only bassless B# I had... that's no lie. All the others are C's.
I once stated here that all the others were C's I was banned for 4 days :)

  7.
Thing of beauty, sir. :) I'll have a dig around & see if I can match the vine style to a particular factory - just for my own curiosity!

That one should do very nicely, if you're moving it on.

    Jon.
The necks were made at FujiGen Im told....but I really dont know this as fact

  8.
Interested! I'll do a straight trade with that plectrum for a bassless fret.
Thats well out of order....when I bought the bassless fret off you on Ebay last week you told me it was the only one you hads ever seen,in fact your selling point was its rarity, thats the only reason I bought it..

    NOW YOU HAVE ANOTHER????

I might just report you on this

    SCAMMER :)

  9.
Hi BC-ers

I have a daughter living and working out in the USA and am wondering If she was to purchase me a Bass for a Christmas present would she have to declare it for import duty when bringing it home back to blighty?
Basically what I’m asking is has anyone purchased a bass whilst out in the USA and brought it home and if so what’s the deal, has to be legal etc, any advice would be welcome.

    All the best

    Chris
I only ever bring in used items so its always Duty & VAT.....However if it is genuinely a gift there will still be charges but it will be lower than buying as a stock item...have a look on the HMRC web site...its the only way to get the answer....
She could always buy it and sell it to you for $100 the duty then is insignificant

  10. Rare ol bird here....Serial No 1003 makes her 1933 or possibly early 34,Shes in super condition for 75+ years
Comes with the original I beleive hardcase and given the age it again is in very good solid condition, obviously there fraying on the black covering material but all the latches are solid the lock works(no Key) and the leather handle remains solid

    Looking for around £2K
    possible exchanges considered

  11.
Does anyone know the maximum amount you can get away with not paying duty on importing something from the states?
Unless the sender is willing to undervalue the item....you are gonna be paying on anything over £18....got a 66 mosrite today devalued to $300 duty was £44

  12.
just to kill the last 7 min's at work - copy and paste the following (adding ones that you have and are ommited) and if you own one - bump up the number - lets see what the Bass players most loved pedal is..........

  13.
The Hipshot doesn't go as low according to people I know who've tried it.

FWIW the pickup cover should make no difference at all to the string height. It's the surround on some of the older 4001 models (some are without the "cutaway" section) that you have to worry about. In fact my old Ric 4000 could probably achieve the lowest action of any of the 30-odd basses (many high end) that I've had.
You should be able to go way low....I have put a hipshot on a rickenfaker and its low with spot on intonation...I could acheive low on my 4003 Ricky but intonation was always an issue....Had I tried the hipshot back then no doubt I would still have the rikki...Que Serra Serra :)

  14.
Hi,

I'm selling my Fender Bassman amp head.

It works fine and has a new set of Groove Tubes in both the preamp and drive amp. It's powerful enough for pub and medium size venues despite it being rated at 50w. The build quality is excellent - back in the days when solid meant solid! It comes with it's original Fender cover, spare fuses and has a switchable voltage selector.
And the price please....seeing as Im currently in the market for just such an amp....feel free to PM me

  15.
Just Iplayered it. Not good, tbh.

KOL - forgettable, formulaic trite guff, Clapton - first song awful, second song was OK, but only the usual excuse for Jools to get to rinky-dink along with another "legend" before they croak. Vaccines - insipid & timid-sounding, and they looked embarrassed, as well they might. Bellowhead - plenty of spirit & good playing but way too much of everything all at once, and MIA - what the hell was that? She might be able to rap but she certainly cannot sing - I can't see this helping her career too much. Thankfully.

Have I missed anything? Wouldn't be surprised if I did because I think I might have blacked out there for a moment or two. :)

    Jon.
You didn't like it then????

  16.
I expect this is covered elsewhere but I can't seem to find it....

I am experiencing a pain in my left hand between the last 2 knuckles when I have been practising recently.

    Is this the ligaments?

Should I push on through it so me hand will get stronger or do I need to rest it?

    Thanks for any advice!
GO SEE YOUR GP ....NOW!!!
Dont keep on playing, you may just make it worse....

  17.
Hi,

I'm need a practice amp for the house which could also be used for jams.

I'm thinking 12-15in speaker with 80-100 watt output.

I've got about £350 to spend but that is my maximum and anything under that would be good considering Christmas is on the horizon.

Any recommendations or advise would be greatly appreciated.

    I am considering currently:-

    Ampeg BA115
    SWR LA15
    Eden EN12
    EBS 60

    Thanks in anticipation,

    Connor.
Hows about...........................Roland DB 700 .....with headphone socket.... :)
