  1. Cheers bagsieblue for the kind words! It's been a very reliable, comfortable, great sounding, well built bass. But i can't get another Fender without shifting some other gear first, so this one will have to go!
  2. Nice guitar sir - my bro had one and it was a belter. In short, have a bump!
  3. Thanks The Greek Hopefully i haven't wildly misjudged the price (i've based it around what i originally paid for it on BC plus a good set up and padded gig bag thrown in) but happy enough to amend if i have!
  4. Hello all I bought this secondhand during the summer as part of a credit note i had with a shop - but i'm not really using it so time to sell. Its a Fender GA43s Grand Auditorium sized acoustic guitar, which were made for a limited time only by Fender in Korea in the early 2000s. It's very nicely made, with abalone binding on the neck, sound hole and the Fender headstock logo itself, spruce top and deeply figured mahogany back and sides. It has Grover machine heads, and is very loud and lively acoustically. The Grand Auditorium body shape seems broadly as wide as a dreadnaught, but with a slimmer waist. I bought a Fishman Neo D single coil passive sound hole pickup to go with it too, which I can include in the sale if needed. Currently strung with brand new Martin bronze .12s It doesn't have a case, so collection or meet up preferred within reasonable distance of Leicester. £250 ono inc the spanking new Fishman pickup, or £220 ono without. Shame I haven't found more use for it really, but I'm selling this and my SGC Nanyo SB310 bass to put some money towards another Fender Precision or Jazz bass instead (now THAT I would use!)
  5. Now SOLD Hi all, Been half-heartedly trying to sell this for a while on Basschat but haven't been bumping it as I wasn't in any rush to shift it. However I've now (January 2014) bought a Fender Modern Player Jazz so this one really does have to go! Its a SGC Nanyo Bass Collection SB310 bass from 1991/92. Loads about these basses on the various forums and they pop up fairly frequently for sale as good basses for not much money. Japanese-built basses, Gotoh machine heads, 24-fret slim comfy neck. Slightly see through red finish. One noticeable chip on back of lower horn (about the size of my little finger nail, if that) Very comfy lightweight bass which has seen me through a good few gigs. Plenty of life left in the big jumbo frets, nicely set up with medium/low action and Rotosound 40-100 swingbass round wounds. Active electronics; knobs are master vol, pickup blend, bass boost and treble boost. [s]I don't have a case, gig bag or shipping box for this one, so collection or meeting up somewhere would be greatly preferred, though I can certainly try going on the scrounge for a box locally if its a deal breaker.[/s] I have picked up a suitable cardboard bass guitar box courtesy of my local music shop, so can now post at buyers expense. I'm in Leicester which is apparently quite close to lots of places if you do want pop in for proper cup of coffee and to collect it instead!
  6. About two years ago I picked up a passive SGC Nanyo fretless bass collection which a mate had left standing in the corner of his shed for two yesrs without even a case. I gave him £100, took it home, and a few hours of dismantling, WD40 and cleaning later it was great, despite all the signs! I decided to stick a Wizard P/J pickup set in it and we've done a lot of gigs together since! Not sure it even classes as budget when you take into account the p/ups too, but worth an honourable mention in the 'basses back from the dead' section!
  7. Ha ha - the Axe basses and guitars! I'd forgotten about them. A friend i was jamming with in school at the time had one and it was dreadful. At the time (1987/88ish) I'd just got rid of my first bass, which was by far the worst bass i'd ever owned - a short-scale white Satellite. It didn't even have a model number, and it was bloody awful with a neck like a banana which made it impossible to play. I was stuck with it for a year before trading it in for a Westone Spectrum which was way better! Most disappointing - i have a say Thunderbird. Always been top of my 'lust after' list, and when i eventually got one I hated it. Still think they're the coolest looking basses ever, but i just couldn't make it work for me. I still go gooey when i see a nice one, and have to urge myself not to go there!
  8. Indeed - apologies for the change of heart nottswarwick! It's a very fine bass tho - happy playing! Cheers mate
  9. Thanks Big Bass Man! I've been a big P bass fan for the last 20 years or so and this one ticks a whole load of boxes as a welcome addition to my bass family
  10. Have a free bump - you can hear how loud/wholesome that rig is going to be just by looking at it. I have a richardd's old Aguilar 4x10 and they're immense cabs.
