  1. True that. I hated the sound of the Nu Metal too thing after years of enjoying what’s now referred to as Classic Rock.
  2. Oasis’s entire career completely passed me by. At the time i missed out on the whole Britpop thing to be honest. Then I got to relive it anyway for the next 25 years in a variety of pub bands. Lucky me eh.
  3. Yeah I’m doing nothing this NYE. Did my last gigs of the year on Dec 19, so having a few quiet weeks. Hope everyone who is playing has a good one and fingers crossed it all goes ahead.
  4. Great basses. Those cases are rare as chicken lips too.
  5. In: 2 x Markbass STD102HF cabs 1 x Markbass TRV102P cab Boss chorus pedal EBS Multicomp pedal Various bass strings Out: Schroeder 1210r cab Yamaha TRBX505 Boss tremolo pedal So yeah - mainly shifting stuff I’ve realised I don’t use, and getting in stuff I need for the run of gigs I’ve been doing since June/July time. …and all via Basschat!
  6. Aha - yes I had a 2x12. It was certainly really loud and effortless to carry - I’ll give it that.
  7. It also depends whether you like the sound of Barefaced cabs too. Yes they are light and efficient but the sound is not to everyone’s taste - I really didn’t like the sound at all, and they aren’t cheap, so I’d investigate a few other brands too. Yesterday’s gig involved a very small stage and I had to settle for using one Markbass Standard 102HF - it’s a fairly large 2x10 cab with a front bass port, rated 400w at 8ohms. I was really pushing it and it was just about putting out enough for a pretty loud rock covers band. I’ve gigged with a pair of them and the sound is massive and far better. Ample low end either way tho.
  8. Still for sale. Nice thing to keep busy with if we end up in another flippin’ lockdown too…
  9. I’ve got a Yamaha BB604 that was £200 s/h and would still be an absolutely brilliant bass at three times the price.
  10. Yup. My most comfy bass to play is a Yamaha BB604 - small sleek body, 24-fret slim neck. It’s just the way it tucks in close to my body when I play, without any sharp edges.
  11. You’re bound to be a star… https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deneb Welcome aboard.
  12. Hello, I bought this cab on Basschat in 2020 but I’ve only used it on three gigs. Since getting a few smaller Markbass cabs this hasn’t left the house - hence me putting it up for sale. It’s in pretty much mint condition, and comes with a fitted Roqsolid cover. Its a vertical 2x12 plus an adjustable tweeter. Lovely sounding thing - articulate and open sounding, and its lightweight neo speakers, castor wheels and carrying handles mean it’s easy to lift. 600w at 4ohms 42hz - 18khz Sensitivity - 101db at 1w/m Weight - 47lb / 23kg Dimensions - 78.8cm x 54cm x 42cm Looking for £400. Prefer collection or meet up if possible somewhere near to Leicester. NOW SOLD THANKS. Cheers
  13. Bought a Protection Racket case off Simon this week. Easy transaction, top man and a brief natter about all things bass. Much appreciated Simon 👍
  14. This. I can see the enjoyment in tinkering and modding so I’m not going to criticise that. But in terms of my own gear over the years, the stuff thats been right for me has generally been bang on right from the start. The stuff where I’ve had to change this or that part to inch closer to what I want has just never sounded right, and eventually just gets moved on.
  15. Wilko are onto me. I bought a lampshade a while back. They’ve been sending me emails most days since. I clicked on one, and that generated another email saying “we noticed you were just looking at our website…” aargh!
  16. The only thing between my bass and my amp is a tuner. I’ve picked up various Boss pedals to experiment with but none of them come to gigs with me.
  17. There isn’t a day rainy enough for me to decide to sit indoors and sort out mine. I think we are up to three drawers and a flightcase full of junk in the garage so far.
  18. That’s a fair point Steve - I can’t argue with that. Im not advocating humiliating other band members and I wouldn’t want to make anyone feel uncomfortable if I knew they didn’t want to do something. I was just surprised so many people felt so strongly about the proposition of taking a bass solo if called upon. All my gigs currently are dep jobs where I do my best to fit in with the vibe of what’s going on around me. If that included being called upon spontaneously to solo I wouldn’t dream of refusing - I’d just do something hopefully adequate and move on.
  19. Dear me! I thought live performance was supposed to be fun? I don’t often need to play bass solos, and have nothing prepared, but I’m pretty sure I could improvise my way thru a few bars of something without being too precious if the situation called for it….
  20. Aye. I’ve bust a few bass strings along the way playing fingerstyle - turned out string wear on the bridge saddles had made some sharp edged grooves.
