That'll be why I can't see a way to sign up on their site. Thanks for that, it was an interesting conversation as it was the first I'd heard of it. Thanks.

We've just had the 1am "You'll be paid by Invapay" conversation. I've been to the website but can't see any way of creating an account. How did you do it? Cheers!

Soundcraft UI12 digital mixing desk. Wireless mixing desk with 8 XLR inputs, 2 XLR aux outputs (plus two jack channels I've used for extra monitor feeds. 32 band eq per channel, loads of built in FX and saveable presets - really useful for saving settings for different venues/songs. Works really well with our 4 piece/4 vocal band. Works with any browser/smartphone/tablet. Please note THE IPAD IS NOT INCLUDED and is just in the pics to give you an idea of what the interface looks like. The WiFi is great for tweaking sounds from out front during soundcheck and you can plug an external router in for a more reliable connection than the inbuilt one. Recording out to and music in from usb features too. Boxed and fully working in great condition. Can post at buyer's expense but would prefer collection from Sale, South Manchester so you can see it before you buy.

Vinyl/plastic. We've got a backdrop and a couple of pull up banners.

That was quick! Now on hold. Two Alto TS 112A pa speakers. 800w peak power. Good condition - gigged but never pushed with the associated few scuffs from transport. Fully working, these tops have served the band really well and I've used them to DJ and MC to crowds of up to 400 at white collar boxing nights. Excellent sound quality - Alto are a brand that really punch above their price point. We're only selling because we've bought more Altos. One small point - at the moment one of the O clamps I screw into the top of the speakers to hold our lighting poles won't unscrew - the bolt turns freely but just won't come out. I'm hoping to get my hands on a drill more powerful than my asthmatic cordless to drill it out properly as I want the bracket back for our new speakers. Collection from Sale, South Manchester or I can meet locally. Cheers!

New mixing desk - advice/recommendations please
colleya replied to colleya's topic in Accessories and Misc
The analogue and budget arguments won out and so we gone for the Alto live 1604. I also took the chance to upgrade the tops from the older Alto TS112a to the new 312a with a lot more headroom. Have to wait a week or two to test the desk at rehearsal but I'll report back with an amateur perspective!- 22 replies

We got ours from a signwriter I got to know from the local pub band scene. He's on FB if you search 'Signs by Alyerpal'. Not sure about TShirts but he does backdrops, pull up banners, bass drum skins, stickers etc

This is what happened to us, our guitarist is getting more and more frustrated by it. Guess I won't be selling it on the boards here!- 22 replies

Yep, I *may* have taken the opportunity to upgrade our tops to the new TS312 with a lot more headroom and a bigger voice coil I'll report back. I know what you mean about losing eq and FX controls but it's an interesting idea about using the UI12 as a sort of FX processor - cheers!- 22 replies

Cheers EBS_Freak. We've had a few dropouts at recent gigs and there's a general groundswell of opinion that having physical faders provides quicker and more reliable access for between song adjustments (our guitarist sings a few songs so needs his volume adjusting up and down accordingly). We don't have the luxury of running with a dedicated sound person so any adjustments have to be done on the fly, usually by me. I'm going to hang on to the UI12 but get an analogue desk to see if we find that the loss of more granular eq and effects is offset by ease of operation at gigs. We've got Alto speakers and I've been very impressed for the money (unfortunately the budget won't stretch to RCF/QSC) so I think I'm going to give their 1604 live desk a go.- 22 replies

New mixing desk - advice/recommendations please

Good point. We don't need power and thanks for the tip. Might be willing to consider the Mackie 806 or 1606 as a halfway house that cuts out the WiFi problem, does anyone have any experience of using one?- 22 replies

Having tried to switch to a digital mixer (soundcraft UI12) the band and I are ready to go back to analogue to avoid WiFi drop outs and the faff associated with not being able to just press a physical mute button/adjust a fader. We need: 8 XLR inputs minimum. 3 aux outs for various monitors/in ears - these need to be individually mixable and preferably XLR rather than 1/4 jack. Some form of built in FX/eq - nothing ground breaking but enough to properly eq a kick drum etc. Budget is hopefully around £500 -600 but I honestly don't know if we can get what we want for that so please throw your advice, opinions & recommendations my way. Cheers!

Quit my band, and no new plans to gig...

Me too, same offer buddy. -
I did have to fret a few bars with the neck of a bottle of Becks when I mistimed a relocation. Actually, I caught the eye of the bloke it belonged to and gave it back.

Spent a considerable amount of time at a gig a few months ago playing open strings whilst moving drinks from the sub. Not a single person noticed that their glass had been relocated. I reckon a couple of plywood triangles with speaker pole holes in the top are on the list of stuff to make.

I took a chance on a Maruszczyk Jake 5p on the for sale boards on here a couple of years ago. Haven't wanted anything else since. If I'd had the choice I'd probably have gone for the haussel pups instead of the delano but it plays beautifully.

Earlier in the year I contacted a load of new (to us) venues with our details and availability. As expected I didn't hear back from most of them - that's generally the form for getting gigs. I know the score and try to chase up and personally visit as many places as I can but can't make it everywhere. Today I've had messages from 3 of them saying that their band has pulled out and are we available?

Bought a phone from Matthew from the sell anything board. Super easy, even though I had to shoot off to beat the snow. Thanks!

Crikey! -
The full propaganda rig - backdrop and 2 pull up banners (the rest of the band call them the ‘Nuremburgs’).
-
We use a combination of a traditional backdrop and a couple of the pull up exhibition style ones. The pull ups are miles quicker and easier to set up. They were made for us by Al at Signs by AlYerPal (he's on Facebook under that business name). We provided our own designs but he can help with that too. Prices are very good, I've recommended him to quite a few folk who've all been very happy.

Will bought a cab from me. Ideal as a buyer, great comms and very helpful to deal with. Thanks
