SOLD - Barefaced Gen 2 Compact - Silver Cloth - Now £350

For sale (no trades thanks unless it's an oly white 5 string P bass type) my G2 Barefaced Compact. A brilliant cab, you get out what you put in, it's stupidly light and ridiculously loud. This is the gen 2 15" speaker version. I've owned it from new and it's in excellent condition. I've given it the once over and can only find one tiny chip which I've tried to show in the pics. It comes with a roqsolid cover which is in good condition and has been used to keep the cab in whenever it's not in use. The handle is in good condition and I've also got a few spare feet that I'll throw in. I'm only selling because the retro Two 10 tone suits my band better. You can hear some sound clips of the cab as part of my gig rig at my band FB page facebook.com/jumpthesharkband. I'd much rather sell via collection or meet up as I don't have suitable packaging to ship. Based in Sale, South Manchester. Thanks for looking.
Unfortunately the 5-string version is currently just an idea for the future.
My wallet just heaved a sigh of relief. Looks like the kids will be getting Xmas presents this year after all

Have done, they've been very helpful. Cheers!

I've just picked up a used two 10 and it has a bit of the dreaded tolex peel. I've searched here but can't find anything and the other bass forum mentions contact cement but a quick Google comes up with regular cement. Does anyone have any advice about how to fix this? At the moment I'm thinking 3m 77 or 90 contact adhesive. Cheers!

OK, I don't do this much so be gentle. A pub standard with my R-400 set pretty flat, contour at about 10 o'clock through a Barefaced compact (15") and super compact. Maruszczyk PJ bass - full P, J at about 20%. Yes, I hit every gear related branch as I tumbled from the Basschat GAS tree. No DI - just a pretty decent unidirectional mic. TRADED - Trade - Barefaced G3 Super Compact for BF Two Ten

We've played the same pub in Cumbria on Halloween for the last four years. It's the village pub for our drummer. They don't have regular bands on so we tend to draw a crowd from the surrounding areas for a bit of an event. It also means that we chuck in all the pub rock classics including this one https://www.dropbox.com/s/tytbb4uzjoa5d4x/2015-10-31%2023.43.43.mp4?dl=0 We've always dressed up, but it took the locals a couple of years to get into it and there are more and more costumes each year now.

My Limelight jazz. Pickups were incredible, sounded beautiful. Build quality was excellent. The only bass I've had where others have commented about how cool it looked. I just couldn't make it sing. It felt stiff and unnatural when I was playing it. Kept trying and trying because of the brilliant tone but I had to eventually face up to the fact that it wasn't for me.

I've got a P/J which is set to full P and J at about 15-20% for almost all of the set as the band feedback is that they are the settings that seem to fit best in the mix. The only exception is for Rio, when I completely reverse the balance.

Cheers Karl, saw that but wondered if I could get a swap with someone instead of ordering new. Dad3353 - not sure if your post is for me or for a deleted offer from someone else that I've missed. If I've broken the forum rules then please take the post down. Didn't see anything in the FAQ about no trades when I checked. Andy -
Hi everyone, This is a trade only offer please - if I can't get my hands on a two ten then I'm going to keep the compact. As is says in the title, I've got an itch I just can't scratch for a two ten so am hoping someone wants to swap the other way. My G3 Super Compact - cloth grille, kept in barefaced cover when not gigged. In excellent condition, no visible bumps, scratches or marks when I was taking the pics. Handle and feet present and in very good nick. I'm looking to trade for a 4 ohm two ten. Preferably cloth grille but not too fussy if it's steel. Condition and cover the same as my compact for a straight swap but cash my way if not. Based in South Manchester, can travel a bit to meet up. Brand new and unopened Beats Solo 3 Bluetooth headphones in black. Got them thrown in with an iMac but don't need them. They're £200 on Amazon so get a new pair for 20% less. Collection from Sale, South Manchester. No swaps thanks. Pics here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/684cdwabq20rauz/AACXVY5YU4bIY31c0jYjPFkia?dl=0

Dammit. Now I want a two ten.

I have G2 and G3 compacts - rehearse with just the G3 and gig with both (more for 'width' than volume). Typically I can't help thinking I might just like the two or four ten more. Can't justify the expense though. Anyone around Manchester thinking the opposite way and fancy a comparison?

I'd imagine that if it's a 'just in case my main bass fails' backup then something as close to the sound/output of your main bass as possible. That way you can switch with minimal faffing around with settings, especially as you're in a function band where keeping the show going and folk on the dancefloor is a priority. However, in my experience unless it's wildy different tone or output that screws with the band balance then most folks won't notice. It's a standing joke in our band that the constant rotation of gear by the guitarist and myself is purely for our ears only. The good folk at the Dog & Doris on a Saturday night couldn't give a monkeys if I'm using a P bass or a Status 57 string made of graphene reinforced kryptonite provided it sounds good and we play Take On Me! If you can afford it then another one of the same would be great, if not then possibly one of the Fender sub brands, the higher end Squiers get a lot of love on here.
-
We've also got the Alto TS112A tops, a spare as a monitor plus one 15" sub. They aren't as good as the RCF stuff but we got pretty much the whole setup for a bit more than one RCF top. Apparently the updated 12" tops are better but I haven't heard them.

I'm South Manchester too, will keep my eyes peeled. I've got a gig this Fri too so need my cab but could lend you a G1 compact if you have any other gigs that you need help with?

Punters wanting to talk to you when you're playing.
If that was the Bowling Green in Horwich that's the pub that started this post.
That's the one. Only played there twice but packed both times, had a few odd requests but just smiled and carried on. -

We played at a pub that's also on Les' circuit (Horwich). It's a very small room and it got fuller and fuller so that by the last song we were having to shuffle back to leave room for everyone. I spent half of that song trying to play whilst handing folk back the drinks that they had tried to balance on the mixing desk and multi plug socket. TBH I didn't mind too much as I'd much rather play to a busy room than two bored barmaids and a passing cat, but I've definitely learned not to put the desk in that spot next time. If people talk to me then I tend to humour them, smile and nod and then just launch into the next song anyway. Fortunately I've never had someone who just won't let it lie.
