Dave bought some pickups from me. Superb to deal with. Thanks.

Not a lot of overlap, but here's the Jump The Shark set list for our last gig before lockdown. There's the odd non 80s tune in there (every time we drop The Chain someone requests it) but the whole point is an 80s themed set.
One
Kids In America
You Give Love A Bad Name
Edge Of Seventeen - Eye Of The Tiger
The Chain
Roxanne
Gold
Run To You
Papa Don’t Preach
Black Velvet
Turn Back Time

Rio
Does Your Mother Know
Two
Maniac
Holding Out For A Hero
Hanging On The Telephone
(Drop D) Fat Bottomed Girls
She Bangs The Drums
We Built This City
Under Pressure
Here I Go Again
Video Killed The Radio Star
The One And Only
Take On Me
Hungry Like The Wolf / Danger Zone
Cuddly Toy
Footloose
I Think We’re Alone Now

May I enquire as to where you got it?
It was my mum's. It had been in the house as long as I can remember. When my first child was born she gave it to us with the idea that we could cut the legs down and use it as a feeding/story chair. We got it re-covered at the same time. I've got pics of both my kids from tiny babies on that chair (including possibly my favourite of them both together - see below) and I've spent countless hours sat there with them on my knee reading to them.
Basses come & go, but that chair is going nowhere.

B) That chair.
Thank you, I can confirm that it can handle some serious bottom end.

As posted on the Sandberg thread but I've waited a few days before posting as a NBD to give me time to have a good fettle and explore with this bass, and I'm delighted with it.
Bought on here from WillGatesBass after a few weeks of returning to the for sale boards to perv at it.
6 months old, matt virgin white, sandberg pre and pickups. A shade under 4kg.
It's beautifully put together and looks the absolute business. Controls are very sensitive, a little goes a long way.
I love the shallow neck and the action is really low, makes it super easy to play. Can't wait until I'm allowed to play out with the band to try it out live.
Also a shout out to Eurosender. Insured delivery in about 24 hours for less than £30.

I bought WIll's Sandberg. Excellent communication throughout. A very easy & friendly transaction.
Thanks,

My VM4 is now my goto bass for everything. With a little bass boost and everything else flat (or mid point) it simply has the tone i've been looking for. If i want a little more mid bite i touch the pan towards the MM pick up. Likewise if i need that more P sounding bass a little touch towards the P pick up. I never need to move things much to get what i need for a song. I use it for all style of music. Its taken over from my Jazz as my Goto bass............at the moment.
Dave
I've spent a couple of hours with it now and discovered just this. The controls are pretty sensitive and a little bit goes a long way. I'm very much enjoying having a p pickup back in the mix.

Badass
Good man and congrats
Thanks Cuzzie. More detail for anyone interested:
California II VM5 in satin virgin white with a matched headstock.
Sandberg electronics and pickups. Paulownia fingerboard.
First impressions compared to my Stingray are:
- A lot lighter. 3.95kg compared to 4.65kg. 700g doesn't seem like a lot, but boy is it noticable.
- Much more compact body.
- Shallower neck profile. Much more like my old Maruszczyk. Immediately easy to play.
- Fantastic low action, lower than I can get on the Ray, not by much though.
Plugging in I was a bit confused, it sounded muffled, however I swapped the strings (tuning pegs felt perfect, just the right weight/resistance) to my preferred brand and that sorted it out. I can't get tones immediately articulate or usable as I can with the ray, but I think I need a bit of time with the 2 band to find my sweet spot. It's fantastically well built and I can see what the fuss is about.
Here it is with the Stingray, just because I can. I've come over all monochrome, must be time for a gold sparkle thunderbird next!

I'd been umming and ahhing about @willgatesbass' California VM5 on the for sale boards and this thread tipped me over the edge!
So, NBD. First impressions are very, very good indeed.

Here's the original email.
You have to click 'head here for more info' to get to the page that @MacDaddy posted.
Here's the rest of that secondary page.

My cunning plan is to hire a generator, ask a local farmer if I can borrow their field, get the whole band to rehearse, in the field, well over 2m apart and Bob's yer uncle!
We could play all day and it would only cost whatever the hire price for the generator was.
We could have a picnic!
Yep, we've had the discussion about who's neighbours would appreciate a free gig most if we did a back garden rehearsal! Mind you, after 10 weeks off the quality might be, erm, variable.....

We got that email too. You have to click through to find that point about one person per room. The first page is all 'we are opening!'. The restriction isn't made very obvious to say the least.
Pirate studios are usually unmanned though, so how will they know?

Thank God for that, my resistance was crumbling!

The "good run" was 2014 onwards. Anyhoo, a gorgeous looking bass. 😎
Fair enough. Edited. Plays like a 'good run' bass though!

Sold! That didn't take long!
Up for sale is this excellent Mex P bass. I've only had it a month but typically something else has come up on here so I'm looking to raise some funds.
This bass was bought from @DoubleOhStephan of this parish who has very generously allowed me to use his pics and details. Nothing else has changed since buying the bass.
Weight is 4.1kg. Price includes UK shipping.
A Fender Standard Precision bass, made in Mexico in 2010, finished in Lake Placid Blue with a rosewood fretboard. This one has been modded to recreate the classic 60's look.
Mods include:
- Brown Tort Scratchplate
- KiOgon Loom
- Generic Bridge Cover
- Fender Pickup Cover
It came fitted with a replacement vintage bridge (described as Fender but I can't confirm).
The truss works fine and action is set pretty low.
Steve rolled the fretboard edges and lightly sanded the neck, it feels great. Whilst doing so he made two marks in the lacquer, but these are just visual, the neck is very smooth. He also installed a small shim (business card thick) to lower the action. He's done a fantastic job and the bass was obviously very well looked after.
I'm in Sale, South Manchester but happy to ship within the UK. I'm a good packer and the bass will be sent in a decent condition gig bag and boxed up. Standard Eurosender shipping is included in the price.

behold - a working version of the demo with the bass
Ah, the old orange GM buses and what looks a lot like the Northern Quarter before it was given the name.
Oh, and the bass is a bit tasty too!

I arranged the courier for a bass I bought the other week using Eurosender with the basschat discount. UK to UK. Think it was around £25 with £500 insurance cover. Arrived next day.

Oh holy hell. Stop it Karl!

Afraid I can't help with the hunt but I've found myself hankering back to a lovely CAR P special that I sold to @Damonjames of this parish about 5 years ago. Bloody stupid decision, but at least now you know that it's not just you!

in General Discussion

Outdoor gigs allowed soon. No official date but it looks like the middle of the month.
The wording looks like rehearsal rooms will be able to open soon too.
