Do you know if BassChat can be "enabled" for the Tapatalk forum reading app, which I have on my android device? ProSoundWeb is enabled, and it makes the process just lovely. I understand that it's a pretty easy tweak, but all presumably depends on how BassChat is actually configured.

And do your best to forget what you paid for it. Try to think more about what you'd be delighted to pay for it if you were a second-hand buyer parting with your hard earned cash, and you'll be in the right ball park. That approach has helped me when selling my old Trace Elliott kit for a third of what I'd paid second hand, mainly because it's now a generation older and much less in demand.
-
I let the side down by having a spare head and a tiny cab at home for backup/practise. Just one gigging head & cab, mind. And I really do own just one bass!
-
Yup, as others have pointed out, the 2 cab route is normally more expensive. It weighs more. It's also likely to be slightly bigger as a package so, depending on your transport, may or may not be easier to transport. I went the single 2x12 route as it minimised the number of boxes and therefore trips. I always take a folding trolley and so the overall weight is not a huge issue as long as I can comfortably lift it into the boot by myself (which I couldn't with my old Trace 4x10 combo but can easily with my GenzBenz NEOX212T) And, in the end, there weren't enough gigs where taking a single 12 would satisfy, so I went for the non-modular route to stop the temptation to compromise. Though I do have a pokey 10 cab which takes me to that extreme where I really don't need the kick, but do need portability. Ultimately, look at which factors matter the most to you. Listen to the alternatives. And then just buy and enjoy!

Wowser - just looked round eBay and see that the US sourced RH450s can now be had for around £390 delivered to the UK (plus tax/duty if you're caught) - that's a screaming bargain compared with a couple of years ago!!! Or, if you're going to be in the US, a mere £340 if you take the free delivery & can squeak it home in your luggage...
-
Yup, the RH450 from the US is just fine on UK mains. I've got both a UK and a US sourced one - both work flawlessly. The only difference is the slight variation in names on the front panel!
-
Standard laptop bag for me, for my RH450. Got loads going begging at work, so cost = 0. Even to buy one would be buttons! Not to mention that all reports of the official TC gigbag seemed disappointing, with seams tearing. Any decent laptop bag holds up to life very well Mine straps the head in nice & securely, with room for the mains lead beside it. The pocket on the reverse is perfect for a speakon lead plus a jack lead and a few other bits.
Genz used to sell a 1x8 but that seems to have been dropped.
Although not appearing to be on sale anywhere in the UK, Genz still list the STL-10T and STL-8T. It might be that BassDirect could get them in as a special if asked. I've got a STL-10T which I use with my TC RH450, and it sounds great for home/practise/small gigs. A breeze to carry bass, head and cab in one go - bizarrely, the bass is the heaviest bit of the three!

Can you convert a car subwoofer and car amp into a bass rig?
Alec replied to stefBclef's topic in Amps and Cabs
60A? There are lighthouses that use less than that!
Significantly less - Southwold lighhouse uses 3 x 90w lamps - honestly! I've seen them - lower power plus good optics is all they need! Back to the car subs as bass rig... Have you ever heard subs of any kind on their own? Try it - they just produce a nauseous wobble of noise that makes no sense until you add top end into the equation. And that's before you get to the point that car subs will typically be pretty rubbish. Don't underestimate the amount of cabinet work you'd need to do to get aything working, albeit nasty sounding. Sorry! -
What is the most expensive bass rig money can buy?

Krampera KVB800 head + KVB1B + KVB1T cabs - package price £3,475 from Bass Direct Mesa Big Block 750 head + PowerHouse 4x10 + 2x15 cabs - around £4,450 from Bass Direct In my view, PA based setups shouldn't count in this category. I'd say it should be purpose built bass kit - a head and 2 cabs. Maybe a separate pre & power amp configuration. PA systems could get silly, as you can just put together a Glastonbury, or bigger, PA system of any time and it'd cost you a hefty six figure amount. It would amplify bass, but it's not a bass amp. -
I'd be interested to see how people rate the 112T cabs. I'm not giving up my NEOX 212T, but for the people that prefer to have 2 12" cabs so that they can use just one for small things, but both for bigger, these could be interesting. Wonder how they stack up against, say the Aguilar GS112? They're certainly lighter - 14.5kg to the Aguilar's 19 kg. 3.75" taller, 1.25" narrower, 1.75" shallower. And priced *new* at a GS112's good used price! Also, on paper, 2dB more sensitive than the Aguilar, but a few dB less sensitive than the Shuttle/NEOX cabs - though not necessarily the end of the world! But, of course, all that's worth diddly if they don't sound great. But I suspect they just might...
-
I've got the NEOX212T and am very happy with it, massive sound, and my back smiles every time I move it, from remembering my old Trace combo. But I've heard enough good reports about the Super 212T to suspect that it would also be every bit as good. My only experience of them was engineering for Selecter in Dec, where their bass player used one. Sounded fine, and no problem for me, but never got time to have a proper play. That said, the BF cab is lighter and slimmer than the NEOX, and that might swing it for you. Although the NEOX is light, the BF is 4 lighter still, and that's never a bad thing. The BF is also smaller in every dimension, especially depth, which might make all the difference when it comes to fitting it in a car. NEOX: 78.8 x 54 x 42 cm (H x W x D), 23 kg BF: 76 x 48 x 34, 19 kg And, frankly, you may end up coming to things like this to help you decide if both sound spiffing. Or even base the decision on the looks. Even though I know it shouldn't matter, to my eyes the NEOX is the better looker. In the end, the clincher for me was that I'd played through a NEOX and was happy with it, so went with the known quantity.
As for the Talkbass furore, I'm sure a large part of it is red-necks who'll hate any non-US product. (Hence so much GenzBenz love over there)

maybe many of them are experienced bass players who just don't get on with TC gear
I'm sure plenty are, and that's fine - no amp is perfect or will suit everyone. It's the people that loved their RH450s until they found out there was a "problem", which they'd never noticed, and then suddenly hated the product and the manufacturer so vociferously. And I always chuckle at how the US really are afraid of stuff made outside the US, when you consider how poorly built some of their domestic products are. And many more are built with rather less state of the art componentry than we're used to. Probably the biggest example of this is their common love for Switchcraft connectors where the rest of the world (probably rightly) views Neutrik as state of the art. I'll stop there, as I think I'm starting to drift...
-
Still love mine too. Can't imagine being without the built-in tuner these days. Lack of volume - what a joke! Like others, I've had to reign in the preset volume by a long way and *still* don't get anywhere near half-way on the master volume. As for the Talkbass furore, I'm sure a large part of it is red-necks who'll hate any non-US product. (Hence so much GenzBenz love over there)

Love that video - and here it is in rather better quality, and with sound... (oh, and yes, you still need an amp!)

Yes, really annoying these days when cabs don't have dual Speakons. Even my (not cheap) Genz Benz NEOX-212T has only a single jack and a single Speakon. Granted, it's a 4 ohm cab, so not too many people would want to add a second cab, but that's not the point. Plus it has the crossover mounted on the rear of the sockets, so it's not even a simple drill & add second socket job to upgrade. And, on the subject of cables, while there's nothing wrong with using 4mm cable, it really doesn't matter for a bass rig with such a short cable length. After all, what cables are used within the head to connect to the Speakon socket... Though the fact you've got cables like hosepipes may feel cool!

New Gig, New Rig hit me with smallish goodish amps
Alec replied to Dave Vader's topic in Amps and Cabs
I've got one of those laptop-friendly rucksacks - RH450 slotted into the laptop bit, all the leads, screwdrivers, spare strings, etc in the other bit. That on the back, bass in one hand, 800w 2x15 cab in the other.
I second that. RH450 & leads in a laptop bag over one shoulder, Genz Benz STL-10T cab in one hand, bass in the other. Of these, the cab is the lightest, followed by the head - the bass really is the heaviest bit! Needless to say, I use a bigger 2x12 cab for proper sized gigs, but always use this smaller setup for rehearsals or tiny gigs, or at a pinch where I've got decent PA support. -
Genz Benz 212T NEOX cab - 2x12 600w 4ohm! With wheels :) £460

Genz Benz 212T NEOX cab - 2x12 600w 4ohm! With wheels :) £460
Alec replied to Mike's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Sigh... If only you'd been selling this a year ago, I'd have bitten your hand off. This is £250 (just over a third) off the current new price! Ended up buying a new one from Bassdirect, and have no regrets - especially when I have to lift it into the car! Compared with my old Trace 4x10 combo, this cab is just a breeze to transport. And just *so* much headroom - don't think I've yet been near the limits of this cab! -
To OP, I don't actually think that the cabinets are really that overpriced. They are about in same ballpark as Ashdown, Ampeg Eden etc. The heads though, are really expensive, one of the main reasons I didn't go for one when I bought the cabs
Ah, to be fair, it was the heads and combos which I'd noticed as having the scary prices - £1,530 for a 2 x 10 combo! And still £40kg... The heads are still "reassuringly heavy". On lifting the head on Sat the whole Trace experience came back to me, only to be shattered on handling the cabs!

Impressions and reviews on tc electronic rh750 anyone?
Alec replied to Fantobass001's topic in Amps and Cabs
+1 from me, too, based on my two RH450s... -
Had The Blockheads in on Saturday. As house engineer, I normally don't move bands' kit around during load-in, but time was tight. Had a mighty surprise at lifting Norman's Trace cabs onto stage when they were just under half the weight I was expecting, based on my old 4x10 combo. (and was about a quarter the weight of the Leslie cab!) Had never realised Trace had moved onto neo speakers - when did that happen? Mind you, I don't rate their new gear as nice soundwise as the older kit. And there are plenty of other quality contemporary rigs that I'd now rate higher, which also happen to be cheaper. Didn't stop Norman sounding lovely, as always, mind...
The MAG 115 300 is 28kg almost 62lbs and MAG 115 Deep cab is 27kg about 60Ibs great plan huh!!! Pah - together, that's barely any more than my old Trace 4x10 combo - depleted uranium....

I don't understand this need to do 1 trip from the car!! That's not the point of lightweight or modular rigs. I don't care how many trips it takes as long as I'm not carrying more than 40lbs at a time.
As a bass player who, like many others, also does the PA, I understand it entirely. I've got our PA & my bass rig to the point where I can get the lot in with 5 trips from the car. Given the non-optimal parking arrangements at many venues, every trip counts! The lightweight & compact gear that I've moved to in the last few years has payback when humping it in & out of the car and around the stage. The rest of the time, it all goes on a trolley - I never carry when I can roll...

TC RH450 - Does anyone us the foot controller
Alec replied to The Dark Lord's topic in Amps and Cabs
Don't have/use the footswitch, as I want to keep my stage as clean as possible. I'm happy enough muting and tuning at the head end, and don't use presets enough to warrant it. That said, it would sometimes be handy to have the tuner at my feet. But quite pleased that I can't mute it by accident just by stepping in the wrong place!
