  1. Purchased a jazz neck off Marshall in a pain free, straight forward and above all else, quick and easy transaction. Thanks bud, top stuff
  2. Two of these rather splendid little things, and considering there were only 24 made, I own one/twelfth of the worlds stock
  3. SOLD - Here we have a 1st generation Sire M7 4 string. I had this up for sale once before, but took it down as I was using it. Back to not being used now so back up for sale it goes. Anyone who has played one of these will confirm that the pre-amps give a bewildering array of options, and this model is also equipped with series/parallel switching for each pickup too. The bass itself has a really nice feel, good neck and nice action. Blemishes, ive done my best to photograph them. There is a couple of small dents near the battery box, another near the jack and one more on the bottom horn at the back. Nothing too glaring, and certainly not 'roadworn'. As suggested down below, i can post this if preferred, though personally I'd much rather this was collected from near Axminster, I do travel around the country for my various works, and am willing to meet if someone wishes within reason. - SOLD Underside of bottom horn dent Back of tophorn dent
  4. SOLD Here for sale is a Spector Q5 Pro 5 string in very good condition. Korean made model, to a very high degree of quality, as you'd expect from the brand really. Flamed maple top, 3 piece maple neck, and what I assume is a rosewood fingerboard. I'd love to be able to tell you what the stock colour on this is, its a very dark smoky grey, not quite black. I can see a hint of green in there too, but my good lady tells me I'm wrong so it must not be there. 🤔 Cant see any visible dings, there's a sort buckle rash line in the middle of the back but it hasn't scratched the paint/lacquer. I have to say I'm a little perplexed as to why I don't play this more often, I picked it up to put it on the sofa for photographs, plugged it in to check electrics and then lost an hour, it plays rather well. A good range of tones from the EMG pups and circuit, and the active boosts really makes this pump. Anyway, I have far too many basses, and certainly more 5 strings than I need so it's up to be rehomed. Weight on my bathroom scales is 4.5kg. All in all, a very nice bass that deserves more attention than I'm giving it. I'm based near Axminster for collection, or I can arrange a meetup somewhere as I'm all over the country with my band at various points. I'm not fond of posting basses, but not against it either, and have packaging if that's what you'd prefer.
  5. That scratchplate! My eyes! My eyes!
  6. It is rather lovely, and I'm a big Squier fan myself........
  7. So what is it? for those of us not 'in the know'
  8. Bought a rather nice Japanese P bass replica from Ben, who was a pleasure to deal with, going the extra mile for a collection and just being spot on. Many thanks mate
  9. I spent parts of today cutting away rotten fascia boards that looked in better nick than the wood on that
  10. Typing this..... What bass is that then Rayman?
  11. I'm not a P bass man by any means, even less so with sunburst, but that's awesome. Just the whole package, back story etc, the stuff that you can't buy (well, you know what I mean ;)) fair play to you '71 is my YOB, and I don't seem to see many of them turn up. I know YOB basses are a rarity in themselves, but '71 does seem to be a sparse year even by those standards. As for the bridge move......I cant think of a reason either, other than he liked to play high notes/solos and bend them a lot so was falling off the edge of the fretboard? But surely you'd bend them inwards/upwards rather than outwards/downwards? No idea Anyway, enjoy that rather cracking opportunity you've been given there WOT, as already said, fair play to ya
  12. Every damn word.
  13. Been in your position, its difficult but rewarding. I found myself getting frustrated and was told by a violin player I know "Don't be daft, that stuff takes lifetimes to master!" which made me feel a bit better about it. Enjoy! p.s. I've ended up trying half a dozen or so diff rosins to find one that I like
  14. Absolutely
  15. Any updates? Hoping all is well
  16. Makes it look like its a good price, i.e. Fear Of Missing Out, and 'shill bidding' - the first bidder may have bid £800 or so
  17. So that one bid was his mate/him on another account then.
  18. Pretty much play flats on everything these days, certainly everything that other people hear anyway. As with all strings, the tone/sound/depth varies quite a lot between the different makes & models. A set of Labellas will sound different to Fender flats. You may have to experiment a bit to find what you want. The other bonus of flats IMO is that they don't have that rather quick drop in clarity that I seem to find with rounds when they have been played a bit. In fact, the set I have on my main stage bass is well over 3 years old now, I'd have changed round wound strings lord knows how many times by now
  19. So, I've picked up an old, little used bass to find the pots have gone all crackly whenever their respective knobs are turned. I've whipped the control cover off and drowned everything in contact cleaner, but to no avail. What other fixes are there for crackling? Other than roast spuds and apple sauce **should add, its the volume and two separate tone knobs that offend. The pickup selector knob is unaffected**
  20. Unless I've missed it, I don't think anyone has an OLP stingray on their list. Or are they classed as something else?
