1. Don't all rush at once.....
2. Where do you live, please, EBS_freak? I'm quite interested. Ian.
3. I can't believe I missed this one: I'd have sold my Grandma for it...!! Has it definitely gone, Simon...?
4. Simon- I don't suppose you fancy a lovely Wick Streamer LX (listed on here for sale) and some cash..??
5. I'm still no wiser................
6. Thanks very much Frank. Incidentally, what does all this 'bump' stuff mean..??
7. Hi guys, Sorry, I hadn't seen your posts and for some reason I seem to have posted this ad twice!! Yes, German LX. AAA Flamed Maple, but this one is spalted AND quilted! Black hardware- yes, I agree. I almost did (and still might). You can do the lot for under £100, direct from Warwick.
8. Apologies- posted in error
9. Thanks very much everyone for your help. I did contact Alex this morning. I've been reading reviews all day and I think I've narrowed my choices down to 147 likely candidates....... My gut feeling is Ampeg or Mesa Boogie (but the Trace Elliot and SWR 18"'s are calling to me) and G Kruger/Eden/Peavey/Glockenlang aren't looking too unappealing either...!! I'm trying to arrange to play some, but I'm struggling with stock at most places near me at present. Just out of interest, is it generally better if you're thinking of ultimately using 2 15's, to get 2 separate ones, or one combined 2x15 like the Mesa I think Paul McC and Alan Jackson's bass guy uses? And would 18's be a big mistake?
10. Thanks very much indeed guys: you both explained that so well I understood! I asked because I'm been seeking to emulate the old warm, rounded, full 'Country-type' sound with my Littlemark & Traveler 151P, failing miserably and someone who I don't know (and can no longer locate) recommended I get these 2 devices and I would be, in his words. 'Golden'... From what you've said Lozz196, it sounds ideal, too. Thanks again: really appreciated.
11. This is my Warwick Streamer LX 4, bought new from Reidy's in Blackburn in Summer this year (2010). Proper German-made Warwick (2009 build date). *** ABSOLUTELY PRISTINE CONDITION / AS NEW *** In fact, better than new condition, as I have meticulously waxed it in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. I'm an absolute beginner and have only played it very gently and occasionally since I bought it: really just scales and arpeggios. Never gigged nor taken outside and kept in 'Rockbag' in dedicated music room. As you would expect of an instrument of this quality, it holds tune and intonates perfectly. Brand new Elixir Nano strings on (and original Warwick Black label in case and also immaculate). I genuinely love this guitar, but I ADORE my Fender 'P' bass and this suits my dubious musical tastes for 'Old-School' Country music and other 'Grandad-type' stuff a little better....!! I really don't need 2 basses and it's a real shame to see an instrument as beautiful as this going unused. Also included is an equally pristine deluxe DSL matching cream and brown strap which cost £40 and a 'Guitar Tech' clip-on tuner. *** £950 *** (I live near Hereford and purchasers are welcome to collect. I'm prepared to travel a reasonable distance to assist).
12. Never, ever been lit (which I guess is why my oil bill rivals the GDP of Belgium!!).
13. This is my cab, bought new from Reidy's mid-Summer, this year. Immaculate- as new. Kept in dedicated music room and covered, from new, with bespoke Roqsolid felt-lined cover (black with yellow piping). Cover included in sale. Played very occasionally in my music room, but only slow, 'finger-style' scales and root/5 stuff as I'm an absolute beginner. Needless to say, never gigged or played hard; not even 'broken-in' yet: I don't think I've ever had my Littlemark amp over volume 3!! I'm based near Hereford and would prefer collection, although I'm more than happy to travel to meet, if necessary. £450 (including immaculate/as new cover).
14. I'd be really grateful if anyone could tell me just what these 2 things do please and advise me how to use them. I've been told that they could maybe help me to get closer to the warm, full, rounded, deep, traditional, 'old school' country music sound, but I have no idea what they are or how to use them. I've got a Littlemark III. Thanks.
15. Hi everyone, I'm playing an American Standard 'P' with La Bella FS flats through a Littlemark III and a Traveller 151 P rear ported cab. I'm really struggling to get the sound I want: the full, warm, deep, well-rounded 60's/70's Country Music thing you hear on the likes of Kris Kristofferson/Glen Campbell/Charlie Pride, etc. The rear-ported 15" Traveller is very punchy and very clear, but not really close to what I want. My question is 2-fold really. I've got the chance to buy the now discontinued Markbass Standard Front Ported 151 HF or, alternatively, buy an altogether different make of 15" cab to go with my Littlemark. Can anybody tell me whether there will be any great difference between the sound of my Traveller and the Standard 151 HF and whether it will be worth the investment? The 2nd part of my question is really whether I would be better off getting a completely different cab (either 1x15" or 2x15") from someone like Mesa or Ampeg or Aguilar, etc? If so, what would serve me best for this warm, full, rounded, deep Country 'old-school', vintage sound I want? Thanks everyone.
16. Could anyone just please tell me exactly what I'll need to do when I put the new one on please?
17. Yes Neil, it is Martin and I couldn't agree more: a really helpful and friendly guy. Just going back to my question though, can anyone please explain the whole screening/shielding thing please? I've heard that I'll have to get some new, self-adhesive shielding foil or something for the pickups and the back of the scratchplate??
18. Thanks guys and Mokl, I couldn't have put it better myself...!!
19. Hi everyone, I want to change the pick-guard/scratch plate on my 2010 MIA Standard 'P'. I really want a matte black single-ply one like on the new Roger Waters' Signature, but it looks as if Fender only make them in Glass Black, so I'm going to have to get one made. The guy at the Sim's Custom shop wants my original plate to copy. Can anyone please explain the whole screening/shielding thing please? I've heard that I'll have to get some new, self-adhesive shielding foil or something for the pickups and the back of the scratchplate?? Thanks everyone.
20. I'd just like to say a big 'Thank you' to everyone who took the time to reply: as always, you've been a huge help and put my mind at rest.
21. So am I correct in thinking that the 'A' and 'D' strings aren't really supposed to be farther apart than the other strings (as the 'tech' in the shop left them), and that all strings should really be equal distances apart to the eye? And is it right that the fret marker dots don't actually line up in the centre of the 'A' and 'D' strings? Sorry to be painful, but this is a big learning curve for me......
22. These next 2 are how it was when I got it back from the 'Expert', when the gap between the 'A' and 'D' strings was wider than the other gaps, but the strings followed a largely parallel line of travel into the back of the bridge with no obvious deviation.
