Bass Shapes (jazz, bass, singlecut, completely original)
Brave Sir Robin replied to EBS_freak's topic in Bass Guitars
Preferences : WW Streamer / Spectors MTDs Sei Flamboyant. And of course, my single cut. It looks great and not too 'single cut'. -
They can be pretty tasty http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.p...ighlight=Krappy

Wow that's neat. Prepare yourself, it's gonna be a monster. .... In a good way

The honest thing would be to talk with Fodera to find out who originally own that bass. I mean, for £80, you could be saving a life! (I might go near suicidal if I got my A.C.G. nicked ), and to look around to see if anyone is looking for it. Seriously, this needs to be sorted the proper way. I'd feel ashamed if I got a Fodera or a Wal for 100 nickels and planning on keeping it, knowing full well there is a good chance it's been inappropriately appropriated. Of course he wasn't to know, but now he knows... If nobody registered or is looking for the bass, or by some miracle, was really sold legally (relative's death, or whatever), then it can be is and he will have a free conscience and a stunning bass (that you can buy of him for £100 ). Come on, good Karma and all that... That's what separates us, the regular good guys from the crackheads.

Hohner makes decent gear.
Wow! The colour combination is a superb choice, and the board/ramp/p'ups look like they are a great playing surface.
Love the colour too. Amber and Ash Kind of reminds me of a custom Ritter, but nicer (I love the Sei shape).

The french 'é' at the end ('er' => 'é') isn't that common in English. It would be like in like in 'beyoncé', 'pokémon', 'café'. I suppose the closest pronounciation would be vee-jee-é, but vee-jee-ay wouldn't be bad either.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbours' basses
Over my time that I've been a member of Basschat, there have been certain pictures of Basschatters' Basses that have almost tempted me to commit murder/robbery as I have fallen in love with them instantly. This has been done before, but which bass belonging to other members would you pack your bags and run away with? I'll start but please don't tell my wife.... For me, it's OBBM's Blue Burst Stingray 5 with graphite neck. I've seen it in the flesh and heard it live (it called to me) and it's amazing. It's very closely followed by Kev's Stingray 5, but wins on overall sex appeal (for me). So now you know
F**** me those are nice. Even the bongo looks great! -
Thinking about upgrading my Warwick Thumb
Brave Sir Robin replied to NeonMig's topic in Bass Guitars
could be an amp issue. maybe some impedance mismatch. My Thumb wasn't loud, but not really a problem. Preamp bypassed, it sounded the same with the eq flat and the pre-amp was engaged. -
Yeah, I'm a big fan of 'antique furniture' finish I also think it will age better as well. As it's a bass that will stay with me until I'm worm food!

first thing to do is send it to thomann

feels great, very smooth. In fact, 1/2 way between the k5 and the corvette (also wenge) would be what I would describe it. It's oil finished, slightly fatter than the k5, with a flat fingerboard radius. All as per request. The neck gets thin towards the body (asymetric) so access is very easy. The shape itself is not dissimilar to the k5. Flat D profile I recon. The Corvette is rounder, the K5 is a wee bit thinner. but I'm sure Alan can work with you on the specs you want.

... and now you can start breathing! I'll be going at the UK bassday in Manchester on the 9th November, and so will the bass in Alan's display. my god... How am I ever gonna be able to catch some sleep this weekend. Playing my repertoire all night, looking at it all day...

I came to see Alan today and collect the bass. When Alan unveiled it, my jaw hit the floor really hard! Absolutely b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l. from every angle. Flawless really! The sound possibilities are really huge. From dub to clank. The pre is very versatile, and the coil switches add some extra oumph and options especially on the bucker. Playing on the neck or bridge also adds more as well. The neck profile is asymetric, and super comfy. Upper fret access is perfect, balance is perfect, weight is good (I'd say around 9, 9 1/2 pounds), comfortable to play standing or sitting. In an odd way, reminds me of my K5 that was so easy to play it just wasn't even an issue. Alan set the action very, very low and fret buzz is non existent. I will need to add a little relief as I am a digger. ...now you can start drooling....

a true work of art! You have high rez versions of them pictures?
Yes...
Warwickhunt, what bass is that? Looks like an aguilar preamp, and from the looks of the wood and cavity, the bass looks like a $$ NT, but the pot alignment looks weird! Just curious -
for me it's his Wal sound on BSSM. But I also like the stingray / modulus sound. Not so fond of the Fender sound, but I wonder how the modulus would work with all the melodic and chordal work he has done on Stadium Arcadium. Probably not as well as the Fender. I believe there is also a story behind his Fender, like it is a proper vintage instrument (that he stickered!). He could be attached to it for other reasons than pure tone.

did you look inside to see if there is a trim pot to control the output? Many pre-amps have that built in. It's possible it is set low. -
Looks amazing, as does all of his work I've seen. You must be chuffed to bits. ps. got your PM on talkbass, and would def want to take you up on the offer, cheers.
Thanks guys, well chuffed! I'll keep you posted

That may be, but I have the nicest back! Cant wait to try it on, I'll make sure to post clips too. With that potentially huge range of sound, it will take a while though.

Nope. Just came back from holidays to find pictures of my bass finished I'll go pick it up hopefully next week!
