1.
Through the wonderful (though often expensive) world of basschat, I hooked up with Mcnach to sell a bass and get a blast on our two BB2's together! Verdict - I didn't want to play on the combo anymore due to urge I was getting that I need another BB2 cab in my life! Sounded mighty!
Mighty it was indeed! Here's another picture of the same day, with 'Me And My Bass" looking enthusiastic posing with what is no longer his bass
 2. Looks good, and that's a very good amount of padding, nice.
 3.
Hopefully it'll come your way at some point Milty I think there's still 2(?) unopened packs of strings in the case - I'll check when i get it back There have been a couple of gigs lately - details on Facebook page - including one on the beautiful Isle of Islay. CharlieT will likely update on his experience - here however is a taster ....
that is pure awesomeness!!!
 4. Does the dep represent the band well enough? I'd rather lose a gig for the band that have a band member for the night to do the gig, and do a lacklustre gig as a result. In addition, in an originals band I feel the band composition plays a more important role, and that all members should be there, at least on "good" gigs. For a regular function band, where the money is I would have no problem with deps, in fact they would be desirable from my point of view.
 5. Yeah, my very first OLP was a truly outstanding bass. That one I had upgraded with Basslines pickup and preamp, and it was beautiful, great to play (I had the fingerboard edges rolled a bit too), and sounded incredible. I sold it in a moment of madness. My second OLP was a veritable dog that I bought untested on the strength of the first. I bought two more afterwards that were very good. One I turned to fretless (sold now), and another one... is the one I still own. It's my Stingray for the situations where I might not want to take my Stingray or SUB... SD SMB4A pickup, a 2-band Stingray preamp clone, and very well setup. It's got bumps and scratches, but it sounds great and it's indestructible Black with black pickguard and maple neck/fingerboard. Yum.
 6. You are an evil man, you. I already have a Japanese 75RI... but mine has the 60s spacing and I remember liking the 70s spacing when I tried one, a while ago... yours is prettier too So, I don't need it, need it... but... I'm getting ideas. I don't like the black blocks/binding (mine is white pearl blocks and cream binding), if it had no binding (or cream binding), I could not have resisted till now... But it's not a deal breaker... Hmmm... Someone please buy this before I do something silly. EMGs... those are active pickups, right? Where is the battery? Inside the control cavity? Originals pickups and wiring harness included?
 7.
After my bad experience with another cover manufacturer, I find out this company called Jenart Design. http://www.jenart.com/ Although their website is not great, they were also recommended by a few fellow Baschatters so I decided to go with them after a nice chat with Chris from Jenart. He's been a pleasure to deal with and made things very easy from the start. He informed me well of all the different materials and options they offer. Mine has been a completely custom made cab cover for my Barefaced Super Twin. I took all the measurements and double check all the details with them and within a matter of days the cover has arrived and....it fits perfectly! Quality is excellent, very well made, well finished and very good 10mm padding....This cover is very similar to the Aguilar and Bergantino covers I have owned. It came packed in a box rather than folded to death in a plastic bag so no creases as you'll see in some others I highly recommend them to anyone looking for an amp, cab...cover. They are very good value for money, best out there that I know of right now.
show us some pictures, please? I'm thinking about them too now.
 8.
At the risk of stealing limelight from the lovely green Jazz bass..(if i can sort the cash I will buy it btw theyellowcar) Rosewood neck.
phew, I like maple
 9.
Hi I have a sweetly modded 2002 Korean Squier P bass (tobacco sunburst, higher mass bridge, Nitro-Cellulose refinished neck and tribute decal..) its worth around £130, (actually prob a bit more..) would be be interested on a trade plus £30?? Its a classy bass but I have no use for it.. Can pick up
maple fingerboard?
 10.
That OLP bass looks great I've heard people say OLP's are brilliant Much better than the SUB series If they really are as good as people say .....I want one
If you're talking about the Asian "Sterling by MusicMan SUB" series... maybe. I'd say they're not too far off. The OLPs were a nice basis for a cool bass, but it needed upgrades. I was a big OLP fan, owned 4 of the things and still own one. But they needed a decent pickup at the very very least. Some were great basses, other dogs. Quite variable. If you're talking about the USA Ernie Ball MusicMan SUB series, just no. The SUB is way ahead the OLPs in every respect.
 11.
I will get a picture for you tomorrow mate.
No, please don't... and you're near me, in Glasgow! Oh no! That looks very very sweet! And 70s spacing too...
 12. I want to replace the black polepieces in my Model J pickups with nickel ones... part SDSPP Does anyone where I could buy these in the UK? Edit: sorted. DiMarzio US sent me some, see post below.
 13. £119 including delivery... That should not be allowed. If they made a shell pink or fiesta red... I'd have one of each too! Model J pickups are here. Hopefully I'll have time to fit them next week. I really like the sound of the originals, but I find them a bit "wild" when playing hard (or slap) and hard to tame that way. Model J should be suitably dark for my purposes...
 14.
No, not at effectpowersupplies either at present. Spoke to them ages ago and there was something going on with distributors in the uk, however on the 5th April contacted them again, they were expecting to have them in in 3 weeks. So in theory anytime now. Had a look today and still not on website. Pretty tempted with Thomann! Good price. £126 plus shipping not to bothered about plug as it's going on a daisy chain.
I'm not too bothered about the plug itself as, like you, I use a dedicated multi power supply. But I still have uses for those power supplies sometimes (currently I need one at work, and this one suits me specs-wise) and I already have a bunch of them with the euro plug that I never use and I'm unlikely to find anyone who needs them either. I'd rather give someone the power supply than throwing it away of keeping it in a box never to be used...
 15. Is the Source Audio Soundblox 2 Manta available anywhere in the UK? It's been available in the US since November, and Thomann has had it for a while now... but I can't seem to find anywhere in the UK that has it. I could buy it from Thomann, but it comes with a mainland Europe type plug, not UK, so I'd rather get the UK version. Anywhere? Bass Direct told me they'd have it after NAMM, and it's been a while.
 16. I ended up selling mine for £450 a couple of years ago or so... but I thought Warwicks had picked up since then. It's a ridiculously low price for a lot of bass.
 17. Graeme sold me his BBE Opto Stomp compressor. Very pleasant communication, and he posted it quickly and well packed. It looked like new too! A pleasure. Thank you!
 18.
As the title said ..... It definately is ☺️
erm... ok
 19.
And how do you get on with the HF control on the back? I ran it yesterday at its extremes and definitely noticed more sizzle with it cranked one way compared to the other.
It's subtle, but it's a clear difference. I have not experimented a lot with it live, to be honest... with last night's being the 4th gig etc. I set it somewhere near half way and that's how it's been ever since. For me it's more of a voicing change it produces, but I doubt anybody but myself would hear it with the band at full blast. But that's the thing, I can get a very clear sound from where I am onstage, so I don't need to struggle to hear what I'm doing, and it sounds just as good out in the room too. Next weekend I have another chance to use the full thing... I don't really need it as I'll have PA support, but I'll take it anyway. And the week after I have the first gig where I'll definitely want both Compact and BB2 together, so there are some exciting times ahead
 20.
Is yours run in now? How long does that take?
I doubt it's done yet, this was the 4th gig only (haven't used it for rehearsals). I feel each time I like it more than I remember... but I can't tell how much of that is the speaker settling in and how much of it is my understanding it better and used more appropriate settings for it.
 21. Another gig with the BigBaby2, and it just continues to amaze me. I meant to use both Compact and BB2 together, with my MarkBass LMIII, but I only had one speakon cable in my case so I used only the BB2. I would have liked just a *tiny* bit more volume (we were pretty loud today, pub gig), but it did manage. Not only that, it sounded really good. I love this cab. It's got a very focused sound, good midrange, with girth, enough bottom end... every note comes out with definition and enough fatness. Fantastic cab!
