1. I have an Audere JZ3 in my fretless Jazz, and although it's qute a transparent preamp... I would like a J-Retro for this. Anybody wanting to trade?
 2.
Classic Grand has downstairs too, a bit smaller.
Yeah, I have played there, it's actually pretty good, I liked that venue.
 3. Scott Devine... I love this guy http://youtu.be/-vUNUo3TbyI If you only watch the first 3 minutes...
 4. Although not a Glasgow band, you might get in touch with "Minds of Montage" on Facebook. I came across them last year and they were doing well and played a few Glasgow gigs. I tried to get them a couple of times to play with my RATM band in Edinburgh and they seemed like a good bunch, but busy playing out of town. Hmmm. Although it appears they're a duo now rather than a trio... no bass player??? 6. Yes, a blend knob or a pickup switch can be added before the preamp, and then feed the output of that to the preamp. Think of it as a mixer. So pickups -> blend/switch -> preamp rather than pickup -> preamp
 7.
Hi Mcnach, Does all this fit into the control cavity with the battery, or will it need a separate battery box? ( I have a stingray copy which is only passive at the moment so no separate battery box routing) Cheers Rowley
Hmmm, you will need a battery box, I think. It *could* fit, but the control cavities I've seen in copies (OLP and Vintage brand) I don't think will be big enough (mostly too narrow for teh battery) so you'd have to remove some wood to expand it a bit, which is easy to do with a chisel... and you've got to be careful. I've always gone for a separate battery compartment when converting basses to active. The preamp itself is narrow and smallish, so it can be made to fit under the pots, but the battery is just a little too bulky I suspect. I would assume it will require making a cavity somewhere. I once made one under the pickguard, so that my crime would be concealed!
 8.
No, not made in the U.S. (Indonesia) but sold in the U.S. I picked one up and the finish is poly and the bass is incredibly good. If it cost 4 times as much no one would bat an eye thinking it wasn't worth it.
I have to admit that on looks alone... the SBMM SUB (Indonesian) with surf green body and maple fingerboard is an incredibly tasty bass... They've managed to build some really nice looking instruments, not just the usual sunbursts, black, natural etc... and if they're half good, they'll sell lots.
 9.
The tonesuck made me sell my first Dunlopa 105q. When I bouth my second one I decided to get used to different sound. It still bugs me a little but I never found better sounding wah than this one. Glab is too hifi, Morley is pure terrible. I might want to try Xotic autowah, but I like to operate by myself...
The AMT is nice... but the sweep is a bit more difficult to control (because the pedal is so small). It does make a pop sound when engaging it, which I'm not in love with. Live is not always so noticeable (especially if you sync it with a snare hit )... Pity, because soundwise is great, I think.
 10.
And no pickguard? I like it.
yup, no pickguard. Or maybe black or white... but in principle no pickguard,
 11.
I have a classic, I took the preamp out and put an east in
is that the 2 or the 3 band John East MMSR?
 12.
Howdy Tough question, but if money was no object and you could literally have any bass on the planet, what would you choose and why?
A Stingray. Fiesta red, with maple fingerboard. I guess I'm not particularly exotic in my tastes.
 13.
The case has that little lip around the sides which means the Velcro, if stuck to the base, doesn't reach the board. Got some adhesive foam to stick the Velcro on, it should do the job
oh, ok. mine are not like that.
 14. The one I used to have did not look like that at all (natural finish)... I wish it did! Out of curiosity now, which model was this?
 15.
This is why I bought a VM Squier because it doesn't have the ugly hogged out body.
eh? the neck routing on the one I used to have was an oversized rectangle, not following the contour of the pickup! (the fretless sold without a pickguard so it's different) By contrast, my '94 Squier Jazz has neat pickup routs and I used to play it without a pickguard, and so does the Squier MIke Dirnt P-bass.
 16. ? I'm missing something. I have an Octamizer and an Agro, easy to put velcro on directly... Hmmm, edit: oh, the tiny rubber feet? I bought some heavy duty velcro that is actually pretty thick. It worked with the feet on, but I did not trust it to attach the pedals strongly enough, so I removed the feet. They come apart very easily with the finger. Keep them, and you can reattach them later if you wish.
