So here I was, thinking I would never find a Trace Elliot I could really like. But this changed today, I just spent two hours playing through an AH500-7 into an Ampeg SVT-810E... Glorious! Not sure how much was the head and how much the cab... but I used that cab before with other amps and I never thought much of it. I even liked the green lighting! hmmm...

Straight drop in, just a few min to install, and you will have some monstrous tones at your fingertips.

I can clearly hear the increasing pitch as expected. In my case it stops at 18KHz, but this is with my laptop's far from great speakers. When I did something similar properly a couple of years ago I could hear 21KHz.

Blending pedals is common enough among bass players.

That was my "Sir Psycho Sexy" sound in the RHCP tribute band, and I loved seeing people look in wonder "what is that??" during sound I recently went to just Bassballs to make some space... but hey, maybe it was not meant to be!

aha, that makes sense, as I used it in LP mode. It does bother me because by itself the blended sound is difficult to use. But I might just add a micro QTron again, since I love that pedal anyway. We will see

Thanks for saving me the time to test it A while ago I put an EHX bassballs AND an EHX micro Q-Tron together in the loop, and I don't remember noticing issues, so maybe the micro QTron also inverts the phase. I liked those two pedals together for a "burpy" RHCP Sir Psycho Sexy kind of sound. We should start a thread to indicate which pedals invert the phase.

I tend to bid my max as late as possible. Unless there is a "buy it now" that is higher than what i want to pay. In that case I may bid early just to remove the BIN.

Nice bass. I like mine a lot. I agree with the electronics not been the best. I find the pickups a bit polite. However I have bought replacement pickups months ago and I even have a John East J-Retro preamp that will go in there... but I haven't yet bothered to do it. That says that even 'though the pickups could be better, they are not bad at all. Lovely bass for the money.

Well, some time later, I have to say that I'm really liking this pedal. A lot. Low gain, with the tone towards the bassy side and a Jazz bass on the bridge pickup... yum. Very creamy and thick tone that does not sound noticeably distorted in the mix. Love it. I'm thinking about buying another for my second board!

[/quote] +1 for the LS-2 to mix dry signal in with some effects. I find that sometimes adding a bit of dry signal greatly improves the result.

I find that many pedals sound good. Others I don't like... but I'm not sure they sound "bad", it's quite subjective, and I know that some of the pedals I discard as "not likeable" can sound good in the band mix, since I see bands using them live... As for "all you need is"... well, I don't think we all have the same needs. If you play rock covers exclusively you could probably do without an envelope filter of some sort... but I can't. I must have one *at least*, and I do not use chorus at all (I do have a phaser 'though). I use 2-3 dirt pedals too. But no compressor in my board. Funny, eh?

I bet that from any one manufacturer you have a wide (tolerable) range, since the accuracy necessary is not tremendous. I'd stay away from those very tight Planet Waves cables, 'though. Nice and tight, but not very nice for the socket over time and it's not necessary to be so tight. I've been using Neutrik plugs for as long as I can remember and they work very well in every instrument I've had. To the OP: yup, like others said, I'd just install a new socket. No point having and unreliable socket. They are cheap and easy to install. Good luck!
