Flying with bass (yes I know, it's been discussed!)
goblin replied to goblin's topic in General Discussion
That's promising then One of my friends is a touring bassist and he flys with a Hiscox all the time. He's seen some come back absolutely battered and with chunks missing out of them, but has always maintained that as long as the bass has remained intact (which it always has), the case has done it's job and paid for itself. Some of the cases seem to last longer than others though! -

Hiscox it is, and I'll insure it through my arse too! Usual of gaffer over the catches? -
I'm off to Switzerland for a gig next weekend and naturally want to take the Infinity with me. Generally speaking I've got three cases for it. A Mono double bag, a Hiscox, and the Rockcase flight case it came with. Has anyone any idea which one is probably more sturdy for an EasyJet hold (it's not going to be going on with me, I already know that). The Mono is out of the game so would you rather fly with the Rock Case that Warwick swear by, or a Hiscox?

I've been offered a pair of Aguilar cabs for a price I can't refuse, so I need to let these go sharp. I don't want to split them it I can avoid it, the cabs are Hartke HyDrive HX112 - 1 x 12 300 watt cab with a switchable voice coil allowing it to work at 4 ohms and 8 ohms. Both cabs are in mint condition and still have the stickers on them. They also have a matching pair of mint condition Roqsolid covers with red piping. As said I don't want to split them ideally; and collection from Rochdale is preferred, though I drive up and down the UK a lot so something could be worked out. £550

Also consider size too, unless you run a van, then it's not as much of an issue. But I know I can get the entire rig (4 EV SX tops, 2 HK Actor Subs, cased desk, mics, cables etc) into the back of a Passat Estate.
-
Various different ways of doing it, I've changed my rig to make it easier to carry, lighter, louder, more flexible etc. I'm done with powered desks, they're too heavy if you've having anything of a meaningful size, especially if it's going to be cased, which if in regular use - it needs to be! Why have two heavier lifts when you can have three lighter lifts? Also much more upgradable if you do that too. I use a passive desk, passive speakers and a class D power amp. The subs I use on the job admittedly are active, just for ease as I don't use them all the time. But I've just gone through huge upgrades whilst the load has become lighter. The 20 channel desk is passive and digital, and no bigger or heavier than a laptop. The class D 2U poweramp and 1U system controller in a case together is now a one arm lift, instead of two man like it used to be, and that now drives my 4 EV tops, whereas the last amp weighed a tonne and was most comfortable powering two of them. Personally I reckon that's the most fail safe way of doing it, because everything is interchangeable.

I moved from DR to Elixir and thought they were great, problem is that they don't fit Warwick bridges particularly well! Whilst I was willing to shoehorn one onto my old Streamer, there's no way I was gunna do it to the SS1 or the Infinity... funnily enough, I'm back on DR now!

Pair of 6u rack flight cases
goblin replied to goblin's topic in Accessories & Other Musically Related Items For Sale

The front's only a cap, so it's the body which is chambered. If you pull off the rear electrics cover, you can see straight through the F holes, and the chamber goes quite far up into the body. The only solid parts of it appear to be the horns and where the neck goes through
-
It's absolutely fantastic. Balances perfectly, and yes, it very much has the Warwick growl and zing, but also a hell of a lot more deep punch too (not that they don't have it in the first place!) I couldn't be happier with it!

Took this when playing the main stage at Willowman Festival this weekend. Sounded mega with a mic and DI!

I should probably update this one a bit! Took delivery of this lovely Infinity today. Amazing in all aspects! Technically my dad's, but I've had most use of it recently. It's a good job he isn't charging rent... yet. After a fairly tense week after Parcelforce being as incompetent as per usual, my new bass arrived to day. And boy isn't she lovely! 2006 Infinity NT5, pretty much pristine condition. So much lighter than my SS1 was, but sounds mega!

Playing in a party band, I've realised this evening that I'm lost without a 5. My Streamer went to it's new home this week, but my Infinity is yet to arrive. Transposing lots of things into different keys AND from 5 to 4 has proven to be quite a bit harder than I expected, especially with having to add harmonies on top!

I've massively downsized the gear I'm using so I'm letting go of this powered desk. Ex hire (install I think) so in great condition with a heavy duty flight case. It had one or two knobs missing when I got it, which I've replaced. It's 1200 watts, so 600 a side into 4 ohms, and it's a really nice sounding desk too. I've had a lot of compliments of how it sounds driving my EV tops and HK sub. I've nicked the key features somewhere off the internet. Key Features:

16 mono input channels
24 inputs (including 2-track returns)
Integrated power amp: 2 x 600W
2 stereo input channels
High quality UltraMic™ preamps
Built-in Lexicon effects processors
7-band graphic filter
40Hz subsonic filter
Inserts on mono channels and mix outputs
PFL solo on all channels
3-band EQ with swept mid
Integral patchbay
2 aux outs
Due to the weight of it, I'm looking for collection only, and £400 as it's in a fitted case and in virtually mint condition. Having a mass clear out of my lockup, so lots of surplus bits and bats have to go. Starting with these. The black one is a Freestyle case, not sure what brand the silver one is, but they're both rock solid! 6u racks, the freestyle case lids clip off on both sides and lift off at both ends, the silver one is a side hinge one and again lifts off. Both in good condition, used but haven't been thrown about. The silver one was used to house my PA power amp and system controller and was regularly transported by car, and the Freestyle one just lived at home housing guitar fx. Both in Rochdale, collection preferred, but I can ship if required. £30 each or £55 for the pair (plus postage if required)

Testing the water a bit, looking to move on my 2013 Warwick Custom Shop Streamer Stage 1 5 string, in Nirvana Black oil finish. This is one of the new improved Warwicks, now they've pulled their fingers out again, and one of the first of the new range (serial number dates it to 14th Feb 2013). Produced in their custom shop, it features AAA Flamed Maple wings, with a 4 piece Wenge Thru-neck, Wenge fretboard, and Warwick's signature bell brass frets with invisible fret technology. It also has the broad neck option from the custom shop, giving it the spacing of a 4 stringer. I've got small hands and have no issues getting around this, it's one of the most natural feeling 5s I've ever played! Electronics wise, it's got a 3 band MEC preamp, with a pair of MEC Humbucker Soapbars. Very clean, open and hi fi sounding, and there isn't a sound it won't do! It also has a pull pot on the volume which bypasses the preamp, though the pickups are actually active, so it's never truly passive! The hardware is gold, with the Warwick 3D bridge which is cut out of a solid piece of brass, as well as the brass 'Just a Nut 3' The strap locks are recessed Dunlop locks, which will be included as part of the sale. I also have the Warwick owner's pack with warranty card, manual, unopened cleaning cloth etc, and a genuine Warwick aluminium / ply flight case. It weighs a bit but it's the ultimate protection. The bass isn't particularly light either, around the 5kg mark, but balances beautifully. No neck or arse dive. Only reason for sale is I've got a hankering for an Infinity or a possibly a Dingwall. Cash is king, but try me for trades. Conditions of trade - it MUST be high end, it MUST have 5 strings, or if you've a 5 string Infinity NT, that'd be swell! Based in Rochdale, it'd be quite heavy to post so ideally I'd prefer collection, though I hike up and down the country a hell of a lot for gigs etc, so meeting is an option. £2500 ONO This is also the exact bass played as by Andy Irvine in Warwick's official demo video, and previously owned by BC's very own Kev https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U12vvP1rkys More photos are available on request.

Selling our Peterson P150 (again) as it's now surplus to requirements having downsized the portable amp to a PJB and I'd rather this went to a good home. We've had it probably around 15 years now I reckon, and it's never missed a beat in the time I've had it. It's done theatre shows, folk gigs, the occasional bit of rock and functions too. It's always sounded great. It's got the 12" EV driver which these amps are noted for, and it's also had a recent service too to make sure everything's top notch. Condition wise, for it's age it's great. It has a complete set of corners and the casing, whilst it has various age related marks, is solid and in relatively good condition. I'm based in Rochdale, Manchester and looking for a £350 cash sale only I'm afraid. I'll upload pictures later.
