Kids do not learn any slapbass from this man.

Well it sounds...different His technique is appalling though! -
Cheers, I'll have a look

I'm trying to get a new set of strings for my 'Vette 5 and having a nightmare with it! I like what the bass came with...the problem is that I don't know what they are, and I can't simply as the old owner as I got it from Bass Gear, so we don't know what it came with. There's no silk wrapping on the strings at all, and no colour coding on the ball ends either, they're just gold coloured. The strings have a slightly dark tint to them too, I know they stainless rounds but at the moment that as much as I can tell (apart from the gauge of them)

Aye, I've always had a soft spot for them and managed to pickup this one for £99 plus a free set of strings

Here's my main rig as it currently stands, taken on one of Sunday's gigs. Excuse the keys player, he's not included (even though he's bloody good!) Second cab and turn up a bit, that's absolutely ridiculous that it won't keep up. I've been doing outdoor gigs this weekend with my LH1000, and yesterday at one of them the sound engineer asked me to turn down, which was entirely fair enough as I knew it was a bit loud... it was turned up to 3! As others have said, if the 500 won't keep up at rehearsal levels, you need a new band. My rehearsal amp is a Superfly and the 2x10, I'd be lucky to see 200 watts out of that at 8ohms and it's fine!

The thing is that all technology is going to have a hiccup at some point, it's just down to how it's dealt with. I don't see PC makers giving the same customer support that Apple give. I've got the 3 year care plan on my MBP and fingers crossed I won't need it, and any issues I've had with my iPhone I've been able to book an appointment, pop into store and they just replace it. My brother went in with his MacBook which he didn't really look after so it was shagged, and they sorted it all out for him, once home it got wet and died. New SSD later and topped up the ram, it's like a new laptop. To be honest, on the laptop front, I daren't open up a laptop and have a look inside, yet I'm perfectly happy to do so with a Mac. On the PC side of the fence though, I'd happily open up a tower, but I wouldn't go into an iMac. Tricky one really! As far as stability is concerned though, in two years of having it, my iMac glitched a few times, but that was due to my own stupidity and something I'd done in the settings which ended up constantly parking the hard drive, which isn't cool when working with Logic. All it does is stops for a bit, then brings up the sudden motion sensor warning. So yeah, my fault that one And again with the MBP, loading 60gb of audio into several tracks simultaneously with an i5 and 4gb ram is just silly! Now it's got 16gb it's much better at it

Best guy to ask is probably Tom Kent on here, he uses one. I'll point him in the direction of this thread

A lot of it's down to preference the way I look at it. Same argument, how boring would life be if we were all the same. We had the same haircut and all drove Ford Mondeos. No thanks! I like my Mac, had an iMac for about 2 years and I've got a MacBook Pro now with 16GB of ram. Yeah, it absolutely flies and there's nothing it can't handle yet...but on the other end of the scale, my last flat mate built a PC for video editing (as has my brother), again very high specs, and it may as well breathe fire running Windows 7 Ultimate, I really can't flaw it! He says it doesn't like Pro Tools but I reckon he's probably just not installed it right I really don't see the point in all the arguing of "this is better than that because I said so because I've got a bigger penis than you". I use Mac because it does what I want it to do for me, and it talks without any hassle to my iPad and iPhone as well. Not every one needs that, I'd never get a job in an Apple store on the basis that if I was giving someone advice on what to buy, I'd entirely base it on what they're using it for. Is there any need to have one for surfing the internet when a cheap Windows laptop can do just the same thing? So my advice would be to the OP, what do YOU want out of your computer and what would YOU prefer. I'd recommend Mac for ease as the OS is built around the hardware, and I've always found it works well, I've managed to make my new MBP put the handbrake on once, and that was when it was stock from Apple (the £999 13" one) and trying to import 60GB of audio into Logic, from an external HDD into 9 tracks...yeah I was asking for that really! One thing you'll find is that a lot of Macs tend to have a longer shelf life than PCs, I bought a netbook in 2008 and it's pretty much dead now, whereas my Dad's MacBook has an SSD and 8GB in and it's as quick as my new MBP, and doesn't look dated. But on the other hand it's not always the case, because I've also got a 2003 IBM ThinkPad running XP with 2GB Ram... and it still works without any issues! I'll add this to lighten the mood a bit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-22EpQOm8c

Sold a Trace Elliot head to Geoff, no issues at all and a friendly and easy chap to deal with

Take an old case over with you, bring it back with an instrument. I know quite a few people who've done this and had no issues at all

Sounds about right with regards to the length of the zip. Some of my friends who are horse riders suggested I'd be better off speaking to a saddler as it's leather, but again, the zip's a bit longer than the one you find on riding boots -
I got one of the leather Warwick gig bags a couple of years ago, and rather irritatingly the zip has gone at the top corner so I need to get it re-zipped. Does anyone know any places that are good for this? Preferably in the North West of England or Yorkshire?
