1. Okay it's not happened Wasn't the guy on facebook's fault if anyone saw it as he was selling on behalf of a friend who decided he wanted to keep it.
2. Aye and that's tidy? the rig?
3. My idea of a compact rig
4. Possibly, can't really afford that though I'm happy with my rig though and it cost me MINUS £40 or so, so realistically, it's a keeper My 21 year old spine can still hack it, I've made a dolly and fitted adjustable straps to stop everything toppling off and it fits into the boot of a Fabia...can't really complain with that
5. Aye I love them, never played one myself but many years ago my father had one, which he stripped back and finished it in a turquoise burst. I can imagine if it hadn't have been stolen he'd still have it! He had the guitar variant too which I've just recently sold on to a friend I've not done well for GAS the last few months though, first a Warwick 5er, then an Aggy octave pedal, now another bass. I dread to think what's coming next!
6. Not the windy sort I've managed to get myself a Westone Thunder 1A. Selling my 4 made me realise that they're still handy to have, especially now I'm teaching too, and I've never had anything P like. My dad spotted it on a traders page, in VGC, circa 86. £100! Can't wait to collect it this week
7. Realistically it depends how long you're willing to wait for the right price, when in the month you sell it and so on. BassGear had my '03 Corvette 5 in for £750, though I got a very good deal on it at the London bass show, and in a hurry I sold my John East'd 4 to a mate for £550. The average going price for an average condition Standard appears to be around £500 - £600 I reckon. Pictures tell a thousand words though.
8. See what happens when you get the details of the gig back I did a function this weekend and didn't know the scenario, assumed the worst and took out the whole rig. But, yes it was a big room, but we were backed up by PA and the extra cab only really took up more space in the van. If you're going to be backed with PA, don't worry about it too much I only plan to take one cab next time.
9. When I was at hunting I was initially after a Focus I've got a mark 1 Skoda Fabia now and that does the job just as well as my previous Vauxhall Agila / VW Polo, although I've not tried a double bass in this one! I know I can get a cased Roland RD700 in there, though that was with the passenger seat slid forwards and then the rear seat squab completely removed It happily swallows up my Trace rig, bass, pedalboard flightcase and cable / bits box with the parcel shelf in and space for two passengers, so I can live with that! It's also just as quick and more economical than the 1.6 focii I was looking at
10. I'm currently running Trace too and love it, but I'm in the same boat. I've tried quite a bit, and EBS are nice are the Hartke Hy-Drive cabs, but I'm swinging more towards Aguilar! The Hartke rig I've tried (3500 head and two 1x12 Hy-Drives) was very nice (especially for the money) and there was a good clear cut sound that didn't bottom out on low Bs, however I've got a good friend who plays in a working heavy rock band, and a function band, and he's had nothing but trouble with his 1x15 / 4x10 / LH head setup, which is currently putting me off As for Aguilar, Dave who runs it is a great guy and full of knowledge / always happy to help me out and give advice, and the gear sounds fantastic too! As for compression, I'd probably stick to outboard just for that bit more control, but it's all down to personal preference.
11. Post pay day bump. And if you're in the Manchester / South Yorkshire area, I'll even deliver it myself. How about that?
12. I've got a passive Wal, sounds pretty much identical to active ones, and it still has a very hot signal too. I reckon it's in the pickups!
13. I've had TWO double basses, my 1x15, head and hard cased Warwick in the back of a Polo...so yeah you should be alright!
14. What OSX are you using on your iMac? I foolishly updated to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard rendering my Edirol UR80 useless to me. It worked well with SL though, still got it if you want it, drop me a PM. There's a for sale thread somewhere in the classifieds too If you're on Lion or above, I've got a Tascam US144 MK2 now and that's fantastic!
15. Kerbump! Couple of extra bits, it's 35" scale and I'll also chuck in a free hard case (Stagg)...mainly because it's getting in the way and it's a bit of extra protection in the post Hit me up guys
16. Bumpity bump...I'm in a good mood, make me an offer
17. Aaaand the 5 already as a flat battery... Typical
18. Ah Fred'll be fine, I probably won't get to play blondie in my next lesson when me Baker gets his mitts on it... Then I'm going to want to chop me fingers off again and yea ilddx, they really are awesome Many people love Mercedes, I love VW, many love Fender, I love Warwicks
19. Okay here's the other one which I'm selling. It's a frankenstein build but with top components. From what I believe / have been informed, it was originally built by Howard (Bass Doc) around 10 - 15 years ago, and it has a Jim Cairnes neck which I don't know if it was fitted during the build or at a later date. The body is Mahogany with a quilted maple cap, and a deep red translucent finish, and the neck is maple with an ebony board. To be honest, it looks and sounds great! The pickups are EMG soapbars which give great flexibility in sound, and within the last six months I've had it setup by Steve Curtis at The Guitar Repair Workshop in Manchester, where it had it's frets levelled, filed and dressed. A full setup was also done, and I had a 3 band John East preamp fitted. Hardware wise is where it gets interesting, the heads are heavy duty Schaller, and it's got a thru strung Overwater bridge on it, and it looks like the body was initially built to accommodate that bridge. The shape is also quite Overwater like, but a bit more curvy, and I can't help but notice that the control plate / cavity is the same shape too! I've also put on a pair of string tees for all six strings, as the space was tight it means the truss cover has had to be reshaped, but it looks fine so that's nothing to worry about. Now it has worked for a living, so it's had a fair share of dings. There is no damage whatsoever that effects the playability and sound of the bass, the marks / chips are all cosmetic. The worst is where it looks like the previous owner has turned around and knocked the headstock, and it took a chunk off it, however, the remains have been glued back on and it's not caused me any issues. NOW SELLING FOR £500 AS IT NEEDS TO GO! ... I don't have the space for it Reason for sale is basically that I've just bought a new 5 string Warwick, making the need for a 6 string a tad irrelevant to me, especially considering that I was originally in the market for a 5 when I bought it! If anyone has any questions or want any more photos, just drop me a PM and I'll do what I can for you
20. Come to think of it I haven't named any of mine yet! And yes, everyone adores the fretless, it's...a bit special, it sounds so good naturally, and then with the added flexibility of the John East 3 band eq, it's mind blowing. I got it around 5 or 6 years ago, my first fretless. I can't ever imagine myself selling it, and I've had a good few offers!
