1. Haha we've all been there If my 6 sells and the 4 doesn't...sods law says I'll end up keeping Ginger too
2.
How about loaning me a bass on approval for three months and see if I jump the Fender ship?
How about taking the plunge and buying my 4 g'wan, it's in the classifieds. You know you want to. Come to the dark side.... we have cookies!
3. Had the fretless for a good few years now, but I recently purchased this lovely 2003 German Active Corvette from Bass Gear. Happy me
4. Go on, you know you want to I've seen a fair chunk of these going in the 700s recently, and it's a bold statement but this has to be one of the top condition ones, with the bonus of the East preamp, and having being looked after by Steve Curtis at the Guitar Repair Workshop in Manchester who is extremely good, it plays like a dream too. I'd be sad to see it go, but as Molan can testify, new bass forces sale
5. Ovangkol with a Wenge 'board, and bell brass frets. I feel silly for forgetting to put that in now!
6. It certainly turns heads! All it needs is a buyer
7. Well I ended up going down in the end, had to wake up at 5:30 to drive down from Rochdale in time for opening, but it was worth the trip. Was great to catch up with the guys again and meet a couple of new faces too. Ended up being attacked by GAS too and ended up coming away with a lovely 5 string Warwick from the Bass Gear stand
8. Aye, it's been very well pampered, it gets a clean, oil (fretboard) and wax once a month without fail, currently strung with DR Hi Beams. The year is 2000
9. Oh it also includes the matching Warwick strap locks in the sale I can look at postage, I'd prefer collection as basses and post haven't always mixed well in the past, but as my feedback thread shows the last time I posted one, it was packed in such a way it would have "withstood a direct hit from a cruise missile" I'll include a Warwick deluxe rockbag in the sale (no straps), it does have a hole in the bottom which is held together with gaffer! Any questions just drop me a message.

12. Okay, bump time. Down to £80 as it needs to go, and I've got a couple of pics too
13. Based in Barnsley, currently studying a degree in Popular Music, 20 going on 21 years old with a good chunk of playing experience behind me. I play and will teach both fretted and fretless playing styles (if you're looking to learn fretless I'll get you going too) and can play and teach a multitude of playing styles including slap, finger, thumb etc. I'm also able to teach you to read, I've done plenty of gigs in the past where I've had to read dot for dot, and I'm a pianist too so have a lot of reading experience to go off, I'll also teach tab if that's what you're after too. As far as bass playing goes, I find sound and tone is a big factor which I've spent a lot of time and effort into refining, so I can teach you how to find and contour the ideal sound for the style of playing. I can also help with general performance issues too such as nerve busting, posture, etiquette (though that one can be subject to opinion) Being a student I'm fairly flexible, I balance a part time job with it, but once I get more students and gigs again, I can hopefully drop that giving more flexibility. My main free days are Tuesday - Thursday evenings, Friday mornings and Sunday evenings. Any more info drop me a PM
14. Edirol UR-80 USB audio interface. Two input (1/4" Jack / XLR Combined) Phono out Headphones out Digital in / out Midi in / out Phantom Power Sample rates of 44.1, 48 and 96kHz Hi-z / Lo-z switch for input 1 I've used this with Mac OS Snow Leopard and Logic Studio 8 for the last year or so, upgraded to Mountain Lion and Logic 9 which this isn't compatible with. Compatible with both Mac and PC with driver support from Roland until Windows Vista and Mac Leopard (though I've run it with SL and have been told that it will run with Windows 7) Comes with original PSU and has been used in a clean, smoke free environment, though the device does have it's fair share of scratches, but it still works perfectly. Will post for £10 or collection is welcome, and depending on location I can arrange to meet too. I've got a feedback thread on here if anyone wants to read it..... somewhere
15. Jag X Type V6 Estate? Comes in either 2.5 or 3.0 V6 if you want AWD. Lots of room and lots of luxury
16. Skoda Octavia Scout? Well specced, fair amount of space, 4WD and the 140bhp 2.0 TDi CR has a pretty good poke too it as well. Or if you're something bigger and classier, the Superb is also available in Estate variant with 4WD (and a bigger engine). When my Fabia was in the dealer on Christmas Eve I had a look around one, it's bloody massive and got the same kit as Beemers. Having reluctantly gone from VW to Skoda ownership, it has to be said, Skoda really have hit the nail on the head since VW took over!
17. Volvo V70? My mate can get his Hiscox flat across the boot of his with the amp behind it, seats still up. My dad used to have a 240 estate, now THAT was band transport I've found 4x4s to be smaller inside too, I run a Fabia and have no problems getting my gear in along with PA and guitarists. I struggle with a full size drum kit in those Hardcase cases though. Dad went from a Golf estate to a Freelander and lost a lot of space in there, then a couple of years ago went from the Landy to a long wheelbased Mercedes A Class, rear seats clip out, and it becomes a van. If anything getting a 4x4 will be doing you no favours, as you also have to lift gear higher up. I know a guy who carries all his stuff around in a BMW 640Ci!
18. Bump, I even forgot this was up here for sale!
19. Ahh I quite like it, it's just become a walking bass exercise for me now I've chosen to do And The Beat Goes On by the Whisperers. It'll easily cover the time needed with Sledgehammer next to it. Cheers for the tips guys, definitely going to use these to extend the repertoire a bit
20.
For feel and groove, how about "Good Times" by Chic...
Really? I was worried about playing that last year as I thought it was too easy That, or I've been playing it for so long I've stopped noticing haha. Definitely some erm interesting suggestions here
21.
Not that is consider it to be less off a bass line at all but the first two tunes you mentioned are far more challenging a play through than Sledgehammer IMO! Think outside the box, every year someone will play Sir Duke or Master Blaster for their performance module, your lecturers will appreciate a break with something a bit left field. Tried any Anthony Jackson parts?
yeah I noticed there were some 2nd / 3rd years playing it whilst I was in first playing it, kinda set the bar really With regards to Sledgehammer, it depends how you look at it, as you've got to get the right feel and sound as well - not as easy as some would have you believe. Anyone can play the notes, but it's how you play them that also matters. I've checked with Fred (Baker) and he's said that Sledgehammer would be more than adequate, I might just go fetch the Grade 8 Rockschool book from the library and do a bit of sightreading. Choose it on the day
22. In the process of preparing for my second year performance at uni which is in a couple of weeks. Last year I took it easy and played Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick, and Sir Duke and did really well with them. Want to up my game a bit this year, I've already got Sledgehammer down. Anyone got any suggestions for me? Cheers
