1. I've got a Boss DR670. Had it a while and it's cracking
2. Could be interested in this, been brought up around folk music. Where're they based?
3. ^^^ beat me to it.
4. Pitchblack's the first one that caught my eye tbh, although I'd go for the pitchblack+ if I did, so I can cut out my switch box as it has two inputs (changing bass on stage is also a bit of a pain). I can get hold of a new TU1000 for £!00 though which is really tempted, I've borrowed one before and loved it.
5. I've got one of the leather ones, think it's the MS2 or something. It didn't cost ME anything though, the guitarist / ex bassist in the band i used to play with packed up music completely, and sold everything. Passed on the Moody strap to me for £30, found the box for it and has a price tag of £160 on it! Found another box with the Levy's in which turned up when he found out I'd had an unconditional offer from uni after an awesome audition. Completely free of charge. Box has £90 written on it. Bargain
6. I use a Boss TU15 which I've "borrowed" off my dad, and it does the job really well. I don't like having it on the floor though and it doesn't mute to tune, and for the next show I'm doing I'll be actually onstage as part of the cast, so need a tuner which does that. So I'm looking at a TU2, TU1000, Pitchblack+ or Polytune. Anyone any experience of the others?
7. Cheap Levy's? Where Mine was £90! Cheap compared to my Moody Leathers strap in all fairness
8. YES!!!!
9. It's a good job I have a sense of humour really
10. Believe it or not, still no If it's any help to anyone they had some metal ones and they had some rubber o rings round them if anyone recognises the style? They looked to be anodized / brush aluminium. Cheers for the input though
11. Oh yeah, still Rockbag
12. http://www.thomann.de/gb/rockbag_rb20885b_gig_bag_leder.htm Try that one
13. So they either jumped on it, or it didn't like the temperature change.
14. To be honest I wouldn't put a bass in the hold at all costs, but if there was no choice, I would probably go Hiscox. Even the basic liteflite standard cases are ridiculously solid, so surely the top end pro Hiscox cases should withstand a flight? I play double bass in an orchestra too and one of the old violinists accidently drove over his hiscox violin case (no I don't know how either!), but his violin was absolutely fine - case took the brunt of it. My advise would be to always try and get it onto the plane with you.
15. I'd probably drive it, for me to get to Hull I'd go up the M62 and across. It's not too bad a drive, and I'd just do it for the crack of driving anyway. Don't know why but I like going long distances.
16. I was speaking to one of the guys at probag around christmas, he said that they've now moved all production into the states so they can keep an eye on what's happening, and also improve quality, but he said unfortunately this mean's they've had to bump up the price. So to get one into the UK with taxes and postage, you're looking at around £200. Fortunately Thomann have got the leather Warwick bags back in stock, so I've got one of them on order Should be here in just under two weeks (birthday's on Saturday 16th).
17. Only got this last May / June and it's not been getting the use it deserves as a month later my fretted Corvette was purchased. I've done one gig with it and one rehearsal (for said gig) and it's been getting occasional use at home, therefore it's in mint condition. Despite it's lackage of use I've taken care of, so the 'board is nice and subtle, and the strings are fairly new and decent although possibly a tad light for some tastes (stadium elites 95 - 35), but when I do have a go it sounds the beans, especially for the money. I'll get some pics up as soon as my camera's charged (I'll have a look around my photobucket for some too), but for now it's tobacco sunburst with a tortshell pickguard. I can post, but I don't know how much it'll cost, and it'll come with a brand new TGI gig bag. Also got a Stagg hard case too. With gig bag I'll be looking for £220 plus postage, or with the hard case £250 plus postage. I'm always open to cash on collection too Oh yeah it's one of the chinese ones, but still has the trademark Tokai quality.
18. You wouldn't believe the amount of trouble he had with getting Lufthansa to get that bass into the hold too. He was upgraded to business class to meet the weight restrictions.
19.
Me too! I suggested (well in advance) that he borrowed one from a bass maker who is exhibiting. It got buggered in the hold as far as I know. It's playable, but only just!
Just goes to show that even SKB Bass Safes aren't entirely hold proof I'll always take a hiscox into the cabin with me. Bet he's pretty f***ed off at the moment given how well he packed it!
20. What's up with his Fender? I told him not to put it in the hold!
21. I've used them before, they're not bad on the protection front, infact it's better than the Stagg case my Jazz lives in and the Freestyle I carry one of the Warwicks in, although not as good as my Hiscox. However, them strap handles are a bit long to you're carrying it quite close to the floor making steps a pain in the neck, and also I found that it had a habit of arse diving as the handle's in the middle, but the body of the bass is often heavier than the neck. It came free with a bass though so I can't really complain
22. First Bass: Hohner B2A 'Go To' Bass: Fretted East Active Warwick Corvette 'My' Bass: Fretless Warwick Corvette
