3.
Well done mate!
Thanks!!
Lovely grain. We got some spalted sycamore in our yard that we felled a few years ago, wish I was good enough with wood work to make a bass outta it! Lovely bass, how she play?
Never seen spalted sycamore before! i bet its lovely! any pics? I'm over the moon with how it's turned out! both playability and sound are great!! but i guess I'm quite biased! haha anyone local to saltaire (west yorkshire) is welcome to pop in and try it by the way
Oh man, look's sick ! I do mean that in a nice way. Have you got the vintage knob on the pre-amp? Did ET help you build this bass !
Hey! Thanks mate! After owning more than my fair share of Sadowsky's i decided against ordering the VTC, i wanted to keep things as simple as possible! Will try and get some pics of the back for you guys too! there's a 6 bolt neck joint with proper M8 machine bolts and inserts and also a surprise on the electronics cover!!
4.
I don't think I've ever laid any gig bag down to remove a bass or put one back in!
yeh, good point! Mono are fixing a problem that doesn't exist!
5. i don't think I've ever layer my M80 down to get my bass out? it just slips in and out while held vertically.
6. i love that colour!! any chance of some more pics?
7. Cheers for the nice comments! i actually hand built this bass so I'm glad you like it
8. I have a new bass!! It's an Alpher Instruments JJ4 Specs are: Chambered Wenge body Spalted maple top Quarter sawn maple neck Maccassar ebony board Sadowsky HC pickups Sadowsky 2 band EQ All Hipshot hardware New pics now added
9. Yeh luke (the guy you sold it to) is a good friend, and a great player! I had the pleasure of setting it up for him recently! Such a good bass! Still cant beleive how little it sold for in the end! Anyway's ive just bought the pickups i need so need to get these nordy NJ5's sold! Any interest out there?
10. Ive just seen that bass actually!! Candy apple red four string jazz yeah? No42? My friend owns it Im changing beacuse i prefer hum canceling pickups, thats all plus i prefer the sadowsky boost only pre
11. Its a jazz, ice blue metalic, thinking about it, it could be #104 haha i can never remember
12. Sell the j-retro...... Doesnt sound like you really need it
13. When i last looked at the lakland line of jazz style basses all of them had this pickup alignment issue!! Surely it is just as easy to get it consistantly right as it is to get it consistantly wrong?? For £1000+ having everything lined up correctly should be a standard thing!
14. I miss my 4 string, inca silver NYC Sadowsky!! I know i can never afford another one! I was stupid to sell it!!
15. I adjust the pickup pan and playing position / style to get all the variation in the mids i could ever want. The 2 band, boost only preamp on the sadowsky is the best ive come across for finding a sound that just works wherever you set it! Especially in a live setting plus its dead simple, i dont think having a mid control would add anything usefull to my setup Good luck on your preamp hunt mate
16. I'd suggest sadowsky single coils or hum canceling! They work out at around £100 per set and are some of the best ive tried for tone and for very low noise
