had the joy of playing one of the new models today and its actually quite good played great and sounded great, better than a lot of the mexican p basses ive played and its only 549. it seems expensive for a mex but i think its worth it personally thanks ian
PMT Leeds by any chance?? i played the white one there last week and was quite impressed to be honest! -

The fact that u'll probably pay about £1200 all in for a near £1900 bass (its a classic series so more expensive than standard Ray) I bought my big al from them turned out to be a great deal -
Someone please buy this before i do!!!!

There's only one thing putting me off.... Can anybody guess?? All the stingray's ive owned or played suffered from quite sh*te G strings!!! I swear i'd be a dedicated Ray player if it wasnt for this issue (may not affect all rays) :-/ -

Its pretty simple really A fitted hard case (if available, if not use bubble wrap to stop the bass moving around in the case) Place the hard case into a suitable shipping box with added bubble wrap protection at each end, then use lots of decent quality tape to hold it all together easy!!

In = Big Al Out = Sadowsky NYC + Sadowsky UV70

Ernie Ball Musicman Gamechanger now a reality
CHRISDABASS replied to Musicman20's topic in Bass Guitars
Oh heck everyone, I can sense a internet argument brewing somewhere. No need to get too involved you know, if you dont like it, state why, then thats cool, we can all accept that. I think the term 'fanboi' is a little difficult to digest. I think what I'd describe myself as is a player of EBMM instruments. This hasnt come around from the internet or forums, it has come from trying them out, and finding they work for me. I got my first real Stingray over 12 years ago, and Id wanted it for a few years before that! Why? The aesthetics, the different scratchplate, and more importantly, the tone. MASSIVE tone. That, and the fact my teacher at the time who stated that they make instruments that are very high quality without the 'custom' price tag. So yes, Ive followed them since then, way before I got involved with forums. Am I a fan of their instruments? Yes. Why? Well, I am, thats it. I say enjoy what you like, and dont get too bogged down. Ernie Ball Musicman Gamechanger now a reality
CHRISDABASS replied to Musicman20's topic in Bass Guitars
As much as i may not like the way Sterling comes across as a person, i love his willingness to innovate and create new and exciting instruments! they may not be for everyone but if it inspires new sounds and new music then surely thats a great achievement Personally i couldn't deal with so many possibilities! the 3 pickup Big Al has more than enough options for me -
How you finding the Big Al?
Loving it mate!! cant find anything i dont like about it! The build quality is stunning! it has the best neck ive ever played and it can sound like pretty much any bass you want it to I like it so much that im selling the Sadowsky and committing to just the Big Al for a while i want to really get to know the bass and not be distracted by other basses around the house and GAS etc. my gamble paid off
Just been thinking; slipped through the net SO FAR might be more apt! I one got a bass from the States and I has well chuffed when I didn't get clattered with a big bill... till it arrived 3 weeks later. Turns out one or two couriers to speed the process of delivery up, sort out all the nasty stuff after it's been delivered. Not saying it is in this case but don't go spending any funds you have put aside to pay the expected duty.
thanks for the warning but im more than sure that £38 is all i have to pay, i have the receipt with it all listed and ive spoken to the UPS people. i think it all depends what the declared value is............ thats all im sayin
Wow, lucky with the customs and the speed. Nice bass. Glad you like it. Any favourite settings yet?
They all sound great but im currently loving all three pickups on in passive mode
