Hey ive hesitated a few times (much to the annoyance of a few basschat members, sorry ) but as much as i love this set up i feel the need for a change Both amp and cab are in excellent condition! the cab comes with an official Aguilar cover (cost £100) the amp comes in a semi hard / light weight rack case Im asking[s] £550[/s] Now £500 for the head £350 for the cab including cover or £800 for the lot! (current new price for all this is over £1400) Collection from bradford area would be ideal pic of cab phone pic of head plus other gear (sadowsky's not for sale ) possible trades...... Barefaced cabs in general, Aguilar 2x DB112 or 1x DB212 cab, high end 4x10's from Epifani - Berg etc depending on the trade deal offered i'd be happy to accept for example a cab plus cash for my head and cab Cheers Chris 07974 317 284
Ah ha - that would make sense, I was very lazy and only looked at three different DR string specs and they were all 'beams'! My only excuse is that the DR site was running at the speed of a slug and I couldn't be arsed to wait for the pages to turn
haha great strings aren't they! are you getting along with your will lee?
Aren't almost all DR strings round core? I sometimes use Sunbeams and I know they are round core. The medium set are a nice mid way point for a lot of people as they go 45 65 80 100 - effectively 'standard' gauge for G & D but lighter for A & E. Really nice strings and I find them pretty flexible
i think any of the Beams (high beams, fat beams, sun beams etc) are round core the rest are hex!
Marcus Miller 40-100 it is then. I can buy these for £13.20 online from the US or the cheapest I can find them UK is £25 from eBay
oh man!! thats well cheap!! ......runs off to ebay

so..........if they're not actually yours, who likes you or trusts you so much to leave them with you haha
I'd heard rumours about the DR strings Would anyone know if the Marcus Miller ones have the same wobble/bend/flex characteristics? Having had a quick check on-line the idea of low-tension strings retaining a full sound does it for me!
The marcus miller's are the same yeah Most other strings these days are made with a Hex core which generally makes the string have a tighter feel than round core ones from DR website: Hi-Beam stainless steel bass strings are round wound and constructed upon a round core which is unique in the industry. Hi-Beams require much more time, care, and extra steps to make than other bass strings. The extra effort DR expends making Hi-Beams results in a bass string that is highly flexible, musically bright (not harshly bright) and renowned for durability, unusually long life, consistency, and string-to-string balance. They don’t eat your frets. HI-BEAMS are the string to choose for brightness, punch and ease of playing. the Marcus Miller fat beams are just like a custom version of the above

I'd suggest DR high beam strings! They're made with a pretty unique round core that makes them really flexible and great to play
Had a few mins before I go..so here's a quick garden shot Might not use it tonight, as its more of a fretless gig, then again might be a good contrast?
That looks gorgeous! so is it for sale/trade or are you just teasing us? lol

Anyone have an Aguilar AG500SC - opinions/advice?
CHRISDABASS replied to sPiKi's topic in Amps and Cabs
Ive had one for a while and ive gotta say its an awesome amp!! Great clarity and punch and in my opinion would suit a rock band perfectly! Where abouts are you based? Any shops near you with one you can try out? -
Evening all i just wondered how many of you have found a brand/type of string that gives the feel and tone you want? and also how many of you have never really thought about just how much difference changing the brand, design, material (steel, nickel etc) can make? Tonight, for the first time ever ive tried DR Low Rider (stainless) 45-105 on my Sadowsky NYC with interesting results! They are IMO remarkable strings! they have amazing depth of tone and the feel is just awesome! they make everything seem easier to play, which is always a good thing for me its amazing to think that changing just one thing on your bass can make such a huge difference! i suppose this could work both ways depending on your tone goals etc Im hoping they will last a while considering the amount i paid for them let me know your thoughts Cheers

I dealt with the bass merchant on the phone and they had them in stock despite them not appearing on the website! i currently use OBBM's cables but i do have a spectraflex cable too, both are great quality
TBH you shouldn't have a problem with any instrument lead made with good quality jacks and screened cable and assembled properly, which why I have an issue with the claims made by a lot of manufacturers selling ready made leads. I suppose "It gets your signal from one end to the other with minimal change in tone and won't break unless you seriously abuse it" is hardly sexy marketing, but IMO that's what we want from our leads. What is really needed is a Basschat instrument lead shoot-out to see if these cables are really worth the extra money over OBBMs. BTW I couldn't find a UK distributor/reseller for Spectraflex. Would you care to enlighten me?
i think darren at the bass merchant have spectraflex cables! They're good but expensive!

Thanks for all the replies so far I think more than anything im looking for a one cab fits all solution! Something i can carry in one trip to the car/venue that would cover any gig i may be lucky enough to play! at the moment these gigs are in all small to mid sized venues that usually have decent PA etc i once had a DB 410 which weight a rather hernia inducing 98lbs/44kg......ouch maybe i should be considering aguilar's DB212 as well as this is only 10lbs heavier than my DB210 Dam this cab GAS!!

Haha i know that feeling!!
