2.
my Jazz is absolutley the best bass i've ever owned,it plays like a dream & it's built quality is second to none. i took it to my local jam session last night & it drew many comments for both its sound & playability. infact my brother (he's a guitarist by the way--sorry) is an avid Fender collector but after seeing my jazz is now wanting a Bacchus strat' & a tele'. Jazz bass perfection. Chris if you are ever in the Harrogate area you're more than welocme to call in & have a go.
Thanks for all the info guys! yeah man i'd love to give it a try............or i could just buy it off you when you decide to sell it hahaha
3. Thats the worst "Relic" job ive seen!! even worse than the awful job that sandberg seem to get away with!
4.
I'd buy Mark Latimour's Sadowsky (check out the for sale section)
NO! NO! NO! Dont do it! lol I want to buy that!!! someone needs to buy my Metro RS4 first though!
5.
I wasn't planning to buy a Sadowsky but this bass just looks gorgeous... I'm a bit confused though : is the bass located in Europe or in the States, since that makes a difference due to import taxes ?
Its in London mate! I wish i was there picking it up and taking it home!!
6. Hey guys i'd like to find out all i can about Bacchus basses! so any info, opinions, photo's etc are very welcome cheers chris
7.
Love the stacked controls on the Fender. Seriously cool looking bass
Yeah they do look good! (i installed them!!) i miss those stacked pots! its a great jazz! i regret selling her on!
8. Im busy trying to come up with ways to afford this!! (or your even lovelier PJ4 ) I think its gonna involve selling something!! Who wants a lovely sadowsky metro RS4 in 59 Sunburst?
9.
you can get yourself a custom spec custom shop fender..thats what im doing. the price is really good at the moment as fender custom shop stuff hasnt gone up like the rest of fender so you'd get some change back from £4k and im told ill recieve mine within 4 months!! i just got an awesome zoot funkmeister (super jazz) too, they are well worth a look. youd be looking at under 2k for one of them.
Now this is only my opinion so please dont hate me for sayin this but i could never spend £4000 on a Fender! i dont care who's "masterbuilt" (yeah right) it!!
10.
The Coppolo workshop is in California...
are you sure?? http://www.myspace.com/138342557
11. right!! if i had £4000 i'd be booking a flight to new york for the weekend http://www.cheapflights.co.uk/flights/New-York/Manchester/ then i'd get a cheap hotel! next on my list of things to do would be to visit Roger Sadowsky's and Jimmy coppolo's workshops! it would be perfect for me as i would get to meet the people who actually made the instruments and i'd get to try before i buy! Your so lucky man!! im still paying for my NYC sadowsky from last year!! if you struggle to spend it gimme a shout
12. We are proud to be playing The Hop! A venue part owned by Mike Heaton (of Embrace Fame) pop in for a beer with us! you'll love it! its only £3 on the door! (£10 if you want return coach travel from keighley) doors open around 8pm
13.
Really? I'll bet it won't sound better than the Sadowsky or the Fender 75 you have. Why trade two great basses just to come out of the deal with an older version of what you already have? I'm very skeptical about the value placed on some of these old basses - there's a bit of a gold rush going on at the moment and prices can get silly.
HUGE +1 i'd stick with what you have!!
14. ive purchased all my aguilar gear from the bass merchant! i usually deal with Darren! i honestly couldn't have wished for better advice and service!
15. i'd say they're on the lighter side
16. you my friend are one crazy mofo!! what a deal!!
17. As much as i'd like to use a high action every time i setup my basses higher it just doesn't sound right! im actually starting to think that a little fret buzz is part of my sound! i like the grind/growl of it!
18. What sort of cash are we talkin here?
19. He just bought a loads of strings off me! the deal couldn't have been any easier! Prompt payment and great communication too thanks mate!
20.
I find that I can dig in and get nicer tones from a medium(ish) action and it seems more fun to play when it’s not too low, but I can generally play faster and more accurately when the action is as low as is physically possible for my bass, so it’s generally a toss up between tone and playability for me. I understand exactly what you mean though.
So i lasted a whole day with my action set higher than normal (medium) i just cant get used to it!! It seems im probably just gonna have to try not to play too hard! or just put up with the few small rattles here n there! lol haha i think i'll have another go at my setup after this weekend's gig!
21. Hey Ive been playing around with the setup on my basses! Now everybody wants their bass to play as effortlessly as possible right?? Trouble is lately ive found that with a low action the dynamics of my playing can be somewhat limited, i have to restrict my self too much and if i dig in too hard it just sounds bad!! So i gave the truss rod a small tweak anti clockwise then raised the action a bit and although at first its harder to play, i think it will make me a better player in the end and everything will sound much cleaner. Has anyone else found that higher action can improve your sound? Any thoughts or comments either way on this would be interesting cheers
