my cheque just cleared for my first session job! (i got a cool £1000 ) It was recording bass on the secret handshake's new album (due out in april) link to current material here: http://www.myspace.com/thesecrethandshake i hate that Skee Lo cover so Please listen to "summer of 98" and "everyone knows everyone".........im not on these tracks but they give you a good idea of what his next album will be like! Playing bass for cash is the best thing ever!! The hardest thing now is trying to keep my money in the bank instead of giving to one of you good people in return for yet another lovely bass! haha -
Does anyone know where i could get hold of a USA G&L SB2 in the UK?? Im sure someone on here has one!!
That absolutely sums it all up to be fair! I think i can find peace with that! There is some part of me every time i listen to Meshell Ndegeocello that really wants to pick up a fender jazz that just works, my Marcus Miller and the Reissue i had really let me down! But like yourself i record with this bass, play this bass live, everyone who hears it can't say enough about it...... Out of interest what bass is it?
if you want a good jazz try playing a sadowsky! (metro or NYC) i went through soooooooo many basses last year! multiple Warwick's, stingrays, fenders etc etc once i found sadowskys i didnt have GAS up until very recently, but it seems im mainly gassing for more of what i already have but in different colours! which is flippin daft!! so im trying my best to keep my money in my bank as surely i dont need more than 2 fantastic basses!
Can't seem to find anywhere cheaper than the bass gallery at £259. http://www.thebassgallery.com/sadowypre.html Anyone buy one from elsewhere? Cheers, Ray
why not go direct! https://secure.sadowsky.com/store/product_i...a02cd32fb782936 they're $239 that works out at about 175 quid at todays exchange rate! even with shipping costs it will still end up WAY cheaper! they take paypal too! hope that helps mate
I look pretty much exactly like this guy at the moment -> Just got to pay the balance, hope it comes quickly through customs and hope FedEx deliver it in one piece.
once you pay the balance the guys at Sadowsky will get it ready to ship in no time Joe! they give you a tracking number so you can watch where it is in the world! once it reaches the UK you'll have to call up the people at FedEx and pay the customs charges, then the bass gets released!! it was a pretty quick process for me! and everything worked out fine! i hope it turns up this week for you man! if i were you i couldn't bare another weekend waiting! oooh a final thought be prepared to let the bass settle for a bit, it may need a slight setup tweak here and there due to its stressful journey! cant wait to see pics! or even better see it in the flesh someday soon! good luck dude
Both Josh & Rich have played it recently so they are the best sources of independent views if you want to get some thoughts on it Josh had it for a few months on a part trade we did - I'm blaming him for getting me into 5 stringers! I'll chack the recorded stuff when I have some decent speakers - on a laptop without headphones at the moment
cool i might have a chat with them at some point then! the track i recorded wont be out till spring but whats on his myspace gives you the idea of the style and popularity of his stuff!
Hey Chris, just got the CD and slapped it on and cranked it – sounds great man The mixes sound so much better than the compressed myspace music player makes them sound. You’ve got a f***ing killer bass tone on these tracks! It’s great stuff man, and if you’re ever gigging in my neck of the woods I’ll definitely come and see you guys play. Keep up the good work…
Thats awesome mate! thanks for the comments! if we're ever in your area i'll stick you on the guest list! it cost us nothing to record and we're pretty happy with how it turned out considering! that bass sound it just a pre set channel strip in logic pro called "rock stack" seems to work pretty well!
I wondered if you might be back Chris How's the Trace?
The trace pre is fantastic thanks! i recorded bass on The Secret Handshake's latest album with it (Texas based electro band, check them out on myspace!) and they seemed really pleased with the results! The cheque im getting from this album could almost buy this bass!! man i hope it turns up in the post soon! certainly looks like a cracking bass!!
That's prototype KingBass Mk-II no.3 isn't it, Nick? That one's gone now. Rob was telling me the other week! Hey Chris, I live directly east of you. It's a day's travelling, for sure, but only about 200 miles. I usually go down in the am & get there about lunchtime. No problems The factory is well worth a visit.
Once ive got my cash together i might just go down and check it out! it really would make sense for me to actually try a bass before i buy it for a change!! lol
Hey man just listened to all the tracks. Pretty cool, like them all. I must say I just slightly prefer the sound from the bass you sold! sorry Both do sound great tho would love either of them. Oh, and I would like a CD since there doesnt seem to be many takers!
yeah even though that bass was incredibly noisey it did sound pretty dam good! im starting to wish i'd kept now!! PM me your address and i'll post a demo out to you
I've played the stock one with the white pearloid pickguard a couple of times. It's an amazing bass. Very different to play, but ultra fast & a fantastic sound. Give Dawn a call & book a visit. You'll end up ordering something for sure! Rich.
HAHA I thought i might get some advice form you Rich! They look really interesting! trouble is its a bit too far to travel with me living in sunny old west yorkshire! other wise i'd love to try one out! one of the first basses to really get my GAS going since the Sadowsky's!
