(bloody neighbours) through an amp i bit of buzz sounds good to my ears but when not using an amp i always feel like i should raise the action! lol

    hey tonight (and for the last i dont know how many years) ive been playin around with the action on a few of my basses! at first i thought i would raise it a bit and see how that sounds...................... ............hmmmmm i didnt really like the results it seemed to lose some top end "Zing" so i put the action back where it was! i understand that there must be a fine line between zing/growl and just plain old excessive fret buzz but i think part of my sound relies on this element! does anybody else think the same as me? any thoughts??

Doesn't make any difference to how it plays, I just thought it was unusual.[/quote] well my mates 2001 MIA jazz thats sitting here next to me has exactly the same problem! u can scratch bits of lacquer off the frets with your finger nail!!! and it has never had any work done on it at all!! so it must have left the factory like that! poor fender workmanship??? who knows

    hi ive had an offer on the MIA just waiting for confirmation so for now thats on hold! im now willing to split the bravewood! selling the complete neck and tuners for £200 ono and the (fully loaded) body for £260 ono the MIA jazz is a 2007 (i think) so originally it was an S1 but had a jretro when i bought it from artisan! it now has an official usa fender 62 reissue stack knob arrangement! its the sunburst finish with maple neck and board! and it came fitted with a replacement tort guard too in excellent condition and is simply THE best fender jazz ive played! gorgeous neck!! it will come with all original tags and hard case!     hey just thought id put a few pics up of my latest bass! there was a bit of trouble when it first turned up............the vtc knob had been damaged in transit (DAM THEM POST MEN!!) but guitar guitar (glasgow) sorted everything out and chucked in a few goodies for my trouble! its a beauty!! best bass ive ever owned and ive had a hell of a lot!! happy viewing!! for some stupid reason my photobucket account wont let me upload pictures! i usually prefer to do it that way so you dont end up with HUGE pics that you have to scroll around to see! or is it just me n my mac that has that problem??

    after 13 years and many, many basses (a couple of yamahas in the early days, 2 stingrays, warwick thumb,streamer stage 1 and 2,corvette FNA 4 and 5 string, bravewood jazz, modulus flea, 3 fender usa jazz and 1 precision hot rod, a geddy lee signiture and many more cheaper basses that ive forgotten about lol) ive finally come to the conclusion that jazz basses are what i want! they just sound so right! i spent a lot of time (about 8 years playin warwicks) avoiding them for some unknown reason but when i finally gave in and got one it all started to make sense! so now i have a sunburst USA S1 jazz! with the S1 replaced by a set of stack knobs a frankenstein bravewood/geddy lee jazz again with stack knobs and finally my new sadowsky metro UV70 (with VTC) in natural with maple neck (ooooh pearl block inlays!! i love em!!) so i reckon if i had to i'd choose my Sadowsky!! flawless construction and probably the best bass ive ever owned! what on earth do i buy next???? lol

    hi having just bought a sadowsky metro UV70 from guitar guitar in glasgow i can tell you that they are excellent quality! i bought mine without playing it first but i knew how well made they are! seriously you can set them up how you like the fit and finish, fret work etc is awesome so you shouldn't have any worries! the pre in the sadowskys is nice too! especially if you get the vintage tone control option like mine! it allows you to use the bass and treble of the active pre together with a passive tone roll off just like a passive jazz so you can still get all those lovely passive sounds too! ive had a lot of basses over the years (2 stingrays, warwick thumb,streamer stage 1 and 2,corvette FNA 4 and 5 string, bravewood jazz, modulus flea, 3 fender usa jazz and 1 precision, a geddy lee signiture etc) and for me this sadowsky is the best of them all! they are very clear and articulate basses and can do pretty much whatever sound you want! but hey thats just me..........lol i'd try one if i were you! good luck

    this thing is huge!! but it has an awesome picture and looks great! in really good nick too! i'd love to use it but i just dont have the space on my desk! i got it from my work as they were upgrading! it is free to a good home as long as you pick it up! i'll post pics at some point but bare with me as im going on holiday tomorrow till friday! cheers

    hey i bought these to try, they are a lovely set of strings, nice and smooth with blue silk (i think) wrap at each end put them on my bass for half an hour then i put my roundwounds back on.......i just cant cope without the "zing" of roundwounds! lol so.... do you want a virtually new set of flats for a bargin price? i paid £22.95 from strings direct i'll accept £13 including postage and paypal fees oh and they were on a jazz bass! i left plenty of length on them so they should fit most basses cheers
