2. new pics!! from slightly random angles!...............to much beer! haha
  3.
Raising the action on a Stingray is a bit like castrating it. It loses it's top end and all the balls that make it sound so good in the first place. A bit of string buzz is all part of the fun.
yeah i found that with both my rays! i think my problem is that i play bass at home without an amp most of the time! (bloody neighbours) through an amp i bit of buzz sounds good to my ears but when not using an amp i always feel like i should raise the action! lol
  4. shaun just bought my ernie ball flats great communication and fast payment...........what more could you ask for? cheers
  5. thanks for the nice comments everyone! does anyone wanna buy my fenders so can give this sadowsky a sister?? lol
  6.
Its the same link twice dude but they do sound pretty sweet
hahaha sorry about that! ive fixed it now!!
  7.
Firstly, Zing+Growl=Status! Rob Green was telling me that as you raise the strings away from the pickups, the frequency loss is much bigger than you think. Were you setting up your Sadowsky, Chris?
ahhhh i didnt know that! ive been setting up all my basses! just tweaking them here and there! but yeah the sadowsky is my main focus right now! i think im pretty much settled with the setup on it now!
  8. hey tonight (and for the last i dont know how many years) ive been playin around with the action on a few of my basses! at first i thought i would raise it a bit and see how that sounds...................... ............hmmmmm i didnt really like the results it seemed to lose some top end "Zing" so i put the action back where it was! i understand that there must be a fine line between zing/growl and just plain old excessive fret buzz but i think part of my sound relies on this element! does anybody else think the same as me? any thoughts??
  9.
Hey guys an gals I'm thinking of adding another pickup to my current fender MIM/parts precision (the white one in my avatar), now am looking at somekinda soapbar in the bridge position and was wandering if anyone has any experience/advice on which one of the nordy's would be a good choice to partner the USA fender HW1 pup thats already in it. I'm after a kinda beefy but growly tone to add to the thump from the Precision pup, the control set up will be just a single passive volume with probably a 3 way switch to choose between the pups. . . . . . so yeh any advice greatly received
check out these videos i believe the pickups to be nordstrand big singles (please someone correct me if im wrong) i think they sound awesome first this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NjjH0z9MJs...feature=related then this one at about 1 minute 40 seconds in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haQtPf4i02Y...feature=related i think they would make a you p bass sound sweet!!
  10.
Chris, lovely bass mate. Makes me want to go out and sell all my basses to fund one.................but I won't (this time)
go on!!!!!! do it!!!!! hahahaahaha you wont regret it! its the first bass that ive owned where ive thought having just that bass would be all i needed! but im not gonna let that stop me!! out with the (very nice) fenders in with the (in a league of their own) sadowskys highly recommended
  11.
very I'm afraid... in the post to me *woohoo* (sorry, too keen?)
let me know when u get em mate
  12.
Dibs on the geddy neck if you do split the hybrid!
ok mate if i split its yours!!
  13.
Are the maple fingerboards on Fender basses lacquered over the frets? Mine seems to have been and I noticed that the lacquer's split on some frets. Doesn't make any difference to how it plays, I just thought it was unusual.
well my mates 2001 MIA jazz thats sitting here next to me has exactly the same problem! u can scratch bits of lacquer off the frets with your finger nail!!! and it has never had any work done on it at all!! so it must have left the factory like that! poor fender workmanship??? who knows
  14. hi ive had an offer on the MIA just waiting for confirmation so for now thats on hold! im now willing to split the bravewood! selling the complete neck and tuners for £200 ono and the (fully loaded) body for £260 ono the MIA jazz is a 2007 (i think) so originally it was an S1 but had a jretro when i bought it from artisan! it now has an official usa fender 62 reissue stack knob arrangement! its the sunburst finish with maple neck and board! and it came fitted with a replacement tort guard too in excellent condition and is simply THE best fender jazz ive played! gorgeous neck!! it will come with all original tags and hard case! was £520 ** NOW £450** next up is my bravewood/geddy lee hybrid jazz it has a bravewood body, scratchplate, bridge, stack knob controls and numbered neck plate wizard 84 pickups and a geddy lee jazz neck and tuners for pics of the bass in its original state check this out http://www.bravewoodguitars.co.uk/BlondeJtype60.html the body is one piece swamp ash and is finished in a very thin trans blonde nitro celulose! so thin that its started to age nicely in places with slight crazing and cracking! there's also a few dings here and there but it looks great the body alone could probably sell for quite a bit but im looking to sell it as a comlpete bass if possible will only split if i secure deals on all of it was £520 ** NOW £450***
  15.
Hold on a tick, didn't you want a 5 string or have you got that as well?? If it's the latter then Sir you are in heaven! On a side note Chris, my Thumb might be wanting a new(Old) home
well regarding the 5 string...........marcus advised me to stick to what i know!!...........turned out to be bloody good advice!! hence the 4 string!! haahahaha well after gettin hold of this beauty im thinking of selling my other jazz basses to fund another sadowsky!! this time with a rosewood board!! fender jazz anyone???
  16. hey just thought id put a few pics up of my latest bass! there was a bit of trouble when it first turned up............the vtc knob had been damaged in transit (DAM THEM POST MEN!!) but guitar guitar (glasgow) sorted everything out and chucked in a few goodies for my trouble! its a beauty!! best bass ive ever owned and ive had a hell of a lot!! happy viewing!! for some stupid reason my photobucket account wont let me upload pictures! i usually prefer to do it that way so you dont end up with HUGE pics that you have to scroll around to see! or is it just me n my mac that has that problem??
  17.
Having had an allbeit brief diddle on it , this very afternoon , I can confirm it's tastiness. Hope someone bites at this trade with something excellent enough for Jobiebass's red 'Ray to become redundant and find it's way onto the market !!!!!
if that red ray comes on the market im having it back!!!!
  18.
Has she got all of her own teeth? How much?
hahahaha actually yeah i think she has!! errrrrm..........about £1750 she's good at baking too!! lol
  19. after 13 years and many, many basses (a couple of yamahas in the early days, 2 stingrays, warwick thumb, streamer stage 1 and 2,corvette FNA 4 and 5 string, bravewood jazz, modulus flea, 3 fender usa jazz and 1 precision hot rod, a geddy lee signiture and many more cheaper basses that ive forgotten about lol) ive finally come to the conclusion that jazz basses are what i want! they just sound so right! i spent a lot of time (about 8 years playin warwicks) avoiding them for some unknown reason but when i finally gave in and got one it all started to make sense! so now i have a sunburst USA S1 jazz! with the S1 replaced by a set of stack knobs a frankenstein bravewood/geddy lee jazz again with stack knobs and finally my new sadowsky metro UV70 (with VTC) in natural with maple neck (ooooh pearl block inlays!! i love em!!) so i reckon if i had to i'd choose my Sadowsky!! flawless construction and probably the best bass ive ever owned! what on earth do i buy next???? lol
  20. hi having just bought a sadowsky metro UV70 from guitar guitar in glasgow i can tell you that they are excellent quality! i bought mine without playing it first but i knew how well made they are! seriously you can set them up how you like the fit and finish, fret work etc is awesome so you shouldn't have any worries! the pre in the sadowskys is nice too! especially if you get the vintage tone control option like mine! it allows you to use the bass and treble of the active pre together with a passive tone roll off just like a passive jazz so you can still get all those lovely passive sounds too! ive had a lot of basses over the years (2 stingrays, warwick thumb, streamer stage 1 and 2,corvette FNA 4 and 5 string, bravewood jazz, modulus flea, 3 fender usa jazz and 1 precision, a geddy lee signiture etc) and for me this sadowsky is the best of them all! they are very clear and articulate basses and can do pretty much whatever sound you want! but hey thats just me..........lol i'd try one if i were you! good luck
  21. i wish i had the cash for this!! .......right time to sell my granny!! hahaha
  22. this thing is huge!! but it has an awesome picture and looks great! in really good nick too! i'd love to use it but i just dont have the space on my desk! i got it from my work as they were upgrading! it is free to a good home as long as you pick it up! i'll post pics at some point but bare with me as im going on holiday tomorrow till friday! cheers
  23. hey i bought these to try, they are a lovely set of strings, nice and smooth with blue silk (i think) wrap at each end put them on my bass for half an hour then i put my roundwounds back on.......i just cant cope without the "zing" of roundwounds! lol so.... do you want a virtually new set of flats for a bargin price? i paid £22.95 from strings direct i'll accept £13 including postage and paypal fees oh and they were on a jazz bass! i left plenty of length on them so they should fit most basses cheers
  24. just sold my compressor to david (b0bd0gz) good communication and fast, secure payment! cheers mate!
