1.
I love love love them, ChrisDaBass put them on the Stringray before selling it to me and ive been hooked on them ever since. Just got my 4eq HS Bongo this afternoon, not loving the ernie balls on it so gonna get some elixirs, BUT Gauge??? Ive tralled thru the strings sticky but either im reading it wrong or its contridicting itself. I read Lighter gauge strings have to be tighter to get the note, I would have thought opersite but Im a noob or I wouldnt be here. Also ligher strings are better for slap/tapping, which someone then said the mediums are better. anyways, Im gonna get some new ones for my Stringray, which im sure were 45-100 if im not mistaken (chrisdabass can prob inform me) and I want some for my bongo, I guess im getting the 45-100 then a 125??? 130 is standard, but id like it to be tighter, nothing worse then a floppy B string. I play finger style and attempt to slap so if someone could help me id be more then greatful
hey nice to here your still gettin on well with that gorgeous ray! yeah i believe they were 45-100's mate! i love elixirs too! ive been experimenting with DR high beams lately but i reckon i'll get more elixirs soooooon!!!

 4. hi im wondering what would cause a speakon connection in the back of a cab to not allow you to twist (and lock) the cable into place?? i really cant understand it at all!! the speakon on the end of the cable fits into the socket on the cab but it doesnt twist in and lock!?? any advice would be great cheers chris

 10.
Sadowsky 5's are some of the best. The Metro is very high quality and is set up and checked by the US team before it is sent out. With a 5 string you get the best of all worlds. You don't have to play low if you don't want to but you can if you need to. Go for it.
just put a deposit down on this http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/bass_guitars...&guitars=19 man i cant wait!!!! im gonna be skint for a while but i dont really care!! hahahahahahaha
 11.
That's interesting. Not wanting to show my ignorance to plainly, but why a 5 if you play with keys or horns?
i think (and i could very very wrong) its becuase 5 strings were invented (in the 80's) to keep up with the low end of synths/keyboards etc as i said i could be very wrong
 12. hi im in a position to buy a new sadowsky metro its the natural UV70 models im interested in! i just wanted some advice regarding the 5 string version! just how good are sadowsky B strings??? any experience??? ive never really had a 5 string and im very tempted to take the plunge and get one but i dont wanna regret it lol any advice would be great!! cheers
 13.
I have a passive P, and passive Jazz and an active Stingray. In their own way i think they are the best at what they do and for me it depends how I feel. A bit like - do I want to drive my new sports car or my classic sports car or the hatchback today. There isn't one size-fits-all - Oh yeah there is, It's called a Stingray!
i think the ray is the only active bass that sounded right to my ears! if its a jazz or a P though passive seems to definatly sound best for what i do!
 14.
Had a reply: Which I'd say is fair enough, & hope he didn't get ripped off too badly. Although "Nedcallan" strikes me as a very strange choice of user name for someone whose expertise is not with guitars. Cynical me, eh? J.
well it looks like the matter is sorted! thanks to everyone who helped out its a good job us lot are on the ball ey!!
 15.
Very interesting responses here, there seems to be a widespread expectation that when you sell a bass (that you bought used, at least) you should expect to get your money back. That's how I feel too and I've been quite gutted any time I've lost money on one. And that tends to work against modding, as an MIM Fender is what it is, in spite of anything you do to improve it. I don't think I'd go as far as BigJohn, looks like the only part left of the original bass is the body. Maybe one way of recovering some of the value would be to keep the old parts and put it back stock before selling it. That way you either have parts for a new project, or could sell them, certainly with pickups and preamps I guess that would work. So I'm talking myself into pickup replacement. Just need to decide which ones.
i recommend wizard pickups!! great price, really quick turn around, awesome sound......
 16.
another bump (come on you tight f***ers )
ive bought from neil before and not only are his basses are kept in fantastic condition but he seems to have a nack for picking really nice ones!!! great bloke to deal with too!

 19.
passive all the way for me,if a bass has more knobs on it i just f*** about with 'em all the more instead of just playing the bloody thing. btw glad you got the stacked controls Chris all you need now is another set for the jazz you bought of me .
its your bass ive just put the stacks in!! looks and sounds fantastic! i already had them in my frankenstein!! passive just sounds so good when my mesa big block is just on the edge of overdrive so you can dig in and get that nice bit of grind and grunt!! love it!!!
