1. The confusing thing there is, one of the sites I looked at said 350W (RMS) Continuous and 700W (RMS) Program. Nuts!
2.
battery?
Good point, never bothered to check if it was active
3. Sounds very much like a bad earth if it stops when you touch something on the bass. However, you'd normally associate a hiss with an amp rather than the bass. Odd that. And yes, the bass components should be earthed to each other in one way or another. I take it the amp isn't hissing with the bass disconnected?
4. A quick search brought up that it has 4 preamp valves and that they're all 12AX7's. My thoughts are that if you swap them around you may be able single a duff one out. Having said all that, if you do find a duff pre amp valve then you might as well replace all 4, particularly if it hasn't been re-valved in a while. Pre amp valves aren't that expensive.
5. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will come along shortly but it certainly sounds valve related to me. When was last time the valves were changed? When was it last serviced? You could try swapping the pre amp valves around to see if it makes any difference. Pete
6. Stacks of info here - http://wiki.basschat.co.uk/info:amps:impedance_and_wattage It's written by some very knowledgeable people and should tell you all you need to know
7. Firstly - welcome to the forum Secondly - as you surf through the forum you'll find a total goldmine of information on everything from strings to how to set your bass up. Oh and don't forget to check out the stickys, they're brilliant. Pete
8. Having listened to the track I can't see why you would want to change. Your tone is great as it stands in my opinion
9.
On my MIA Jazz, I use the S1 switch in a similar way, because it cuts out the bridge pickup, I can just use the one volume (neck) to control the whole bass. Si
Does it? I was under the impression that it put both pickups in series, making them work together and giving a more 'P' sound. I could be wrong though.
10. Soundslive are doing them for £1099 which is the cheapest I found after a quick search. Google is your friend
11. My Marshall TSL 100 will go to 4Ohm but the 60W version only goes to 8. I suppose it could be different for solid state amps, I'm not sure.
12. Oh that's a beauty. Well done!
13.
166 views to date, and one helpful reply....thanks "Hillbilly" is it the "Aussie" thing, or are you just a bunch of stiffs, that lick each others arses. ? f*** ya's Shove ya forum.!!
Wow, how uncalled for was that? Have you thought that maybe 165 of the viewers didn't know the cure for your issue?
14.
Played a gig at an airforce base in Scotland many many years ago, it was in the seargents mess and was on three floors with a disco and c&w band on the other floors, it was their anual xmas bash and the wives were in evening dress and the men were in full dress uniforms with cumberbuns... We went on to play to about 10 people, and they didnt take any notice, so we entertained ourselves by playing Deep Purple and Uriah Heep until our break, after being fed and wattered by HMG we came back on to about 200 people... they got well into it.. they ended up paying off the c&w band and the dj and had a whip round to pay us to play longer... bonus!!
Well done!!!! Sergeants Messes are notorious for telling bands to pack up and clear off. Clearly, that night they didn't fancy C&W etc. On another night it could've been your band, they're a damned fickle lot.
15.
Polish for a bass? Basowa evidently
To the OP, I got mine from Fender so I don't know what it equates to in the car polish market but as 7string says, no silicones.
16. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will come along soon but to my mind it depends on how they are wired in that particular cab. For instance: Many years ago, I was wiring a Marshall 4 x 12 for a mate. The cab had 4 x 8 ohm speakers and he wanted an 8 ohm cab, so I wired them in series/parallel. Which gave an overall impedance of 8 ohms. However, if your cab is wired in series then each individual speaker will be 2 ohms. I could be wrong but that sounds unlikely and like I said, I'm sure someone will be along soon who has more experience in this kind of thing. You could always get a multimeter, disconnect one and measure it.
17. Oh and the specs? He's quoted the blurb from Ibanez which says that the pickups are the Ibanez N4 and B4. Closer inspection shows they're not. They're the same crappy Bart Mk1s that I have in mine.
18. I reckon you're right to be smug Nice one Del
19. Pics and a location would help
20. Meguiars. Fender market it as guitar polish but AFAIK it's the same stuff as used for cars. You can get it in Halfords
21. I like it, it reminds me a great deal of some of Micheal Hedges stuff....haunting, off the wall and just different.
22.
I'm pretty lucky - 2.4 miles according to google maps
Even luckier I guess, 1.1 miles according to the same site
23. In fact, here is the whole thing Just for your Fender loving delectation
24.
Ooops, sorry. So how did it get like that?
It's the natural colour of the Buckeye Burl facings.
25.
To be fair, his headstock hasn't been used to start a bonfire.
HAHAHAHAHAH. Gee you're funny (I had to get the Missus to figure that comment out)
