I've said it before and I'm going to say it again now. If a plectrum is good enough for the likes of Mike Rutherford, John McVie et al, then it's good enough for me. Ta Pete
Ooops. sorry, didn't realise you were a bit touchy about such distinctions. Should I refer to you as 'groundboy' then Pete?
HAHA......unfortunately I am A lot of us are. However, some of the less honest members will use the phrase "Yes I'm a pilot" when talking to unsuspecting females.
Good break there then. I always thought that you flyboys got around all that beurocracy. I suppose things have changed since my grandads time though OT... here's a thought, if say someone was to take a £10 piece of ebay firewood and come back with something rather special, would the customs people cotton on?
Flyboys??????? I'm groundcrew, not one of the trained chimps we put in the cockpits
I think you're supposed to use a Carnet to take it into the other country and back out... http://www.uscib.org/index.asp?documentID=1843 not sure what HM Customs do to you when returning with it though...
That's one way of avoiding those pesky import duties Was gonna suggest you start Tinmail (for a commission of course) but if there's a risk of it being kicked out mid-atlantic then this is maybe not such a good idea.
If we'd landed where we were supposed to, there was a good chance that I'd have had to declare it......I was lucky. Also, tbh, things aren't that much cheaper over there. What with the exchange rate and the fact that Fender whacked their prices right up. For instance, they had a Geddy Lee in there which worked out at the equivalent of £870. GAK are doing them at £675 iirc. I got this one because it was reduced to clear and so, got it for a good price.
ha ha... at least it was easy for you bringing it back home... one of our guys bought an old brit motorbike and shipped it back on the hercules while he rode back in the VC10. They had to jettison the pallets when the herc ran into difficulties... he was most displeased when he heard it had been pushed out the back somewhere over the channel
Ouch! I can imagine that he wasn't too happy about it. I guess that's a risk you take though.
That's lovely - some of my favourite features: white with tort and mhs! Clearly a man of taste.
Why thank you kind sir I'm really quite pleased with it.
Very nice too! And what's more, a bass bought with 'the wife's' blessing... now that is special!
You're right Nik, it does give it that extra meaning when that happens
Why is it when I look at that bass all I can see is two return air tickets to Sri Lanka floating off into the distance?
Ha, unlucky!

Thanks fellas, I'll stick with the tort then. It really is a lovely thing, I just need to use it in anger now.
She told me to buy it!
I'm loving tort with white these days.
Actually, I was wondering if a black one might look better.

2006/2007 according to the serial number website. Apparently it's a special edition made for the store. It's fitted with hot rod pickups and a Badass II bridge. Can't wait to try it out properly

So I was in the States and stumbled across this in Guitar Center. I just had to bring it home Cheers Pete
PM from nurguzik titled 'Read to all'
Yep, same here

That's coming along really nicely there mate. Stay patient, it'll be worth it in the end

No contest for me. I'm over in the States at the moment and have visited Guitar Center and Sam Ash. Loads of Fenders as you'd expect, some of them lovely, some of them total rubbish. So, with the inconsistency in mind I'd go for Shuker (or some such) every time. *The fact that I own a Shuker has no bearing on my opinion at all.......no really! Pete

Look here. The list, while not endless, is quite long http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=26654 My personal favourite is Jon Shuker. http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/ Choice is yours

Fear! I agree though. Our drummer tends to count faster on gig night.......drives me nuts sometimes. I've never found a way around it either.

Posting in another thread has reminded me to post this here. I bought some valves for my Marshall TSL100 from these guys. Reasonably priced and considerably cheaper than say, Watford Valves.
