4.
The likes of Steve Vai's music and playing leaves me cold, feels very souless and not really the sort of playing I admire. Just my opinion, like
Couldn't agree more.
5. Just to let you know, I've withdrawn my Ibanez. I've decided to keep hold of it for now. I hope that this doesn't cause any inconvenience. Cheers Pete
6. Pah, that's nothing If you want inlays, take a look at what those loons at PRS do to a guitar. http://www.davesguitar.com/product/02730.JPG
7.
I've not been there, but I know where China Lake is. It's in California, where the Naval Weapons Research facility is. Most of the B-29 Superfortresses still in existence came out of China Lake, where they were being used as targets, before they were rescued. It's warm in this anorak.
Haha, yeah. What I meant to say was 'Ridgecrest' Sheesh, I hate that place. It's so provincial it makes your teeth hurt.
8.
Quality bumpage for us both though
For the OP, yes..................
9. This one is mine and having played all that you have mentioned, I reckon it's more than suitable. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=40040
10.
I see it as offering a similar opportunity to those looking for an almost identical bass in a thread that has died already
What gives you the impression that the thread has died? I see nothing to indicate that.
11. Hi and welcome. All good advice above, 2nd hand is the way forward for you I reckon. You could always look at this one As an example of something other than Squier etc. A good sounding, solid bass. 12.
http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=39305 would a trade on my stingray get rid of some gas... cheers geof
Lovely bass there fella but I don't have the extra cash that you'd be wanting your way. Thanks for the offer though. Pete P.S Thanks Weird War
13. For some reason, Nashville country makes me very, very angry. I was in a bar in China Lake (don't worry if you've never heard of it, thousands live there and they haven't either) and there was this guy and his band on - they were charging the local mongs $200 for the privilege of having a table near the stage. Anyway, after about 10 minutes, I just wanted to inflict pain on someone - can't for the life of me understand why.
14. Yet another, every other day bump. Someone give this bass a loving home
15.
If you watch the video on their site about how Hiscox cases are made you'll know why that isn't at all feasible.
Informative video that - and yes, you can see that you'd totally destroy the case by trying to take the innards out
16. If you save a little bit more cash you could get a pair of wizards (they're raved about on here) http://www.wizardpickups.co.uk/shop.asp?category=Bass
17. A pic or two would be good as well
18. Nice! I like it
19. Or this even http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=40040 Ibanez again
20. Anyone? This really is a nice bass. It's just not getting any use at all.
21. Got them on my Shuker. Had the same set on for about 14 months now and I reckon they're just coming into their own. I am looking to try something else but that's just out of experimentation.
22.
As a VMJ owner, unless you want the quite frankly lovely maple neck and body, I'd go with the Classic Vibe on specs, mostly because it comes with a synthetic bone nut, the HMV bridge, and you might prefer the pup's sound as the VMJ is quite dark sounding imo. However, it does lack the brilliant satin neck of the VMJ (could be replicated by wirewooling the gloss neck though), and the hardware on the VMJ has been doing the rounds for years as it's standard mexi jazz fair (normal bent tin and plastic nut). Probably a try before you buy one chap.
Thanks for the info Buzz. As I said, trying one is going to be a real problem. Lincolnshire has to be one of the worst counties in England for music shops
23. Bumped after adding the Tech info
24. Got me some serious interest in either a VMJ or a Classic Vibe Jazz. Trouble is, being stuck in the wilds of Lincolnshire, I have little access to decent music shops where I could try them. Which of the two would you advise I went for and why? Ta Pete
25. Unfortunately the exchange rate is the exact cause. My mate that owns a music shop was told that this would happen by the Hartke rep at the time. He also says that it's happening to all the U.S sourced stuff.
