1. Damned good choice SAA!
2. The truss rod tool that came with my USA jazz is marked 3/16. Don't know if that's any help
3. More progress on 'Lady T. Jon sent me these pics of the neck last night, the excitement is really starting to get to me now 7 piece laminate consisting of maple, black walnut and mahogany. Beautiful!!! The headstock when finished will have a layer of white sycamore underneath the buckeye burl (same as the body)
4.
Holy Crap! Looking GOOD, mate !!
Thanks Mike I'm just waiting for photos of the initial spraying, in which it should look very different. Any news on yours?
5. Sadly there is no escape
6. That's great news John!
7.
ah! i was the same, Tinmans buckeye got me going, but then John R Posted a georgous Thumb bass in the for sale section, so i think my 2nd shuker will have to wait a while
What? You mean I don't get to play spot the wild animal with your build? That's not fair.
8. +1 on the sweatband. I find it invaluable as I used to rip lumps out of my wrist.
9.
Give it time How's your 14 week sojourn looking?
There's some updates in my thread. It's a little further down from this one.
10. Nice specs Si. If only I was in your position and talking about a new build (and I haven't even got the first one - the wife will kill me haha)
11. I daren't go in there again after seeing this one. I'm already thinking about another build with some exotic, other worldly facings, stained in some kind of stunning colour (oh the voices, they won't leave me alone)
12. Go on Si, you know you wanna!
13. I think Mrs T has already accepted that she's going to be ignored for a certain amount of time when mine arrives. There will probably be a lot of 'yes dear' and 'uh?' when she trys to talk to me. I guess it's only to be expected though and I think it's only right too.
14. Pick mainly because of the kind of stuff the band plays. I'd like to use my fingers more.
15. Some more pics. Jon sent me these last night, they don't look that much different from the ones that Darren took but they show a little progress from Thursday. What they show is holes in the Buckeye filled and the body given a good sanding so that it's ready for the basecoat to go on. Jon reckons that the wood will really come alive once that first coat is applied. (Plus it's a good excuse for me to post more pictures ) More pics soon haha
16. That's love for ya. Bless her
17. She's weird. I mean, I know there's a face-like feature on the front but a rhinoceros? A springer spaniel? A bloody SLOTH? What the hell is she on?
18.
oh yes, starting to look the part now, its getting there pete

I lurrrve that body shape 'Tis gonna be fabbaroony
Thanks guys, I'm well chuffed. I think it's shaping up to be masterpiece like all the others Jon makes.
19. I was going to wait for Jon to send through some pics that he took a little while ago, before posting the ones that Darren(Entropiclqd) took on Thursday but I don't see the point. so here you are, the latest progress report. I just love that face-like feature on the front. BTW I'm calling her (rightly or wrongly) 'Lady T' Many, many thanks to Darren.
20.
Stunning bass, but I could have sworn it was in a different build thread before!
It was, Darren just chose to tease me with it
21. That's a really special looking bass Darren. It just serves to make me more impatient for mine. Anyway, pics of my progress soon. Pete
22.
I have my bass. Expect pictures real soon.
Can't wait mate. Cheers
23. John. I feel for you mate, it's a shame about the whole tuner supplier situation. I guess you've had no news about a new supplier. Stick with it mate. Thanks for the comments, I hope to get updated photos soon. By the time you get there the body will probably be laquered and ready for hardware so there maybe something for you to photograph. Cheers Pete
24. Not had any experience with ACG but I know that Jon Shuker will do pretty much anything you want (ask Dood), reasonably priced too (in comparison with Sei that is). Jon has his stock ideas but I'm sure he's willing to give anything a go (just don't expect too many updates) He's also a really nice guy. And if you do go with him, take his lead time with a pinch of salt (that is not a criticism BTW)
25. Got an e-mail from Jon this morning saying that not much got done last week as he was teaching a guitar building course. However, as far as my build goes, he's making the rear cavity covers and then the body will be ready for laquering. He said he's taken some pics and will be taking some more today and then hopefully getting them off to me. One other point, it looks like he's finally bitten the bullet and got some help - the guy that used to work for him is coming in for a few days a week (that's got to be good news!)
