Oh wow. That's going to be gorgeous ...
I think you may be right my friend. It's come a fair way since you went to see Jon, don't you think?
@Tinman - I love your sig. It made me chuckle. So far my Shuker has taken around 6 1/2 months. Thankfully I'm not given to biting my fingernails.
Haha yeah. I'm not holding my breath on the 14 weeks thing but as you can see from my build thread, there's been some progress so I'm happy.

All time favourite band? Genesis (who, strangely enough I shall be seeing tomorrow). Mike Rutherford IMO is an amazing player when he wants to be, he just needs to put down that damn guitar.
-
I forget exactly where he said he was going except it was near Brough. He's got to wait until the people who are in the new place move out, also the lease is up on his present unit so he reckons it's now or never. Don't know when all this is going to happen, in fact neither does he. He did say it was only a 20 minute drive from where he is now (or was that 20 miles?)

Jon sent me these last night the front and the back It's starting to take shape as you can see. Chuffed to bits with these.
-
Just spoken with Jon, he said he's had some damage but nothing that's irreplaceable.(he didn't get the second flood thankfully) He also said that he'll be moving soon to a place near Brough in Derbyshire, he's had enough of the place he's in at the minute, reckons it's jinxed.
Very Nice buckeye burl my old sei had it and i have to say its one of my fave looking top woods i'll give it a try on a future build sometime but i hear its murder to work with as it can have a habbit of chipping out a generally falling to piece's as you work it!
Yeh, Jon was saying that it's really difficult to work and it takes a huge amount of laquer before it stops soaking it up as well.

Well, here's the first real instalment. (thanks OG) This will be the facing for the front (note the "eye" like features, I'm rather enamoured with them) you can see the pencilled outline of the body. and for the back:
I think i've met you Tinman..... Did you play at Nicks Cavern in Horncastle with a rock covers group at somepoint either this or last year? I remember talking to a dude with two BTB's and drooling over them. If it is you, then i was the tall guy with the slurred speech and the South African friend/holder-upper.
Indeed it was me, my friend. How are you doing? That wasn't the best night for us but we're improving rapidly! Good to see someone else from the fens, we'll have to meet up again sometime Pete
Might be up there this weekend though it may not involve a trip to Jon's workshop .. If I see anything I'll snap away .. OG
Cheers OG mate.

Just thought I'd ask this as I'm going to be out of the country for a couple of weeks from later today. If any of you are going along to Jon's to start a build or check on a current one, could you possibly take a camera with you and see if there's anything of my build to photograph. I know it's only been 3 weeks since it started but I don't want to bug Jon too much as he's so busy and the last thing I want to do is annoy him with endless requests for pics. I should be able to access my e-mail while I'm away, so if there are any pics available could you e-mail them to Cheers in advance. Pete
Whos the daddy? Thats what I wanna know?
I guess it must be you, seeing as how you've been promoted an' all. I reckon it puts you in charge of the Bassplayers popular front of Lincolnshire (in a John Cleese kinda way)
-
We've got quite a family going on here. Welcome Snap.
Tinman, I've moved the topic to Off Topic but I'm not aware of any settings that might prevent someone from posting.
No problem. I was trying to reply before you moved it and it wouldn't let me. Cheers CK Pete

Is it just me? When I select "Add reply" I get the message "You don't have permission to reply to this thread" For what it's worth, I think they're pretty good.

I'm not dissing your beloved county Bob (just in case you thought I was). It's just the bit of it where I am is too flat for my liking. There are, most definately, some lovely parts of Lincs. Just not so much around my neck of the endless fens.
Ok, I am now the proud owner of the AKG WMS 400 - and I did a quick AB test with a cable. If anyone would like, I can post up the recording for you all to hear for yourselves - I recorded the sound of my jazz through my Bass PODxt with a cable, and then with the AKG wireless. The difference? Minimal, very slight bit of compression with the wireless, no tone difference, and certainly plenty of low end!
I'm most definately convinced now. With both you and Tayste extolling the virtues of the AKG I shall certainly be ordering one.

It's handy to know people, my mate who owns the shop in Northallerton got the Hartke 4x10 for me. And no, it won't be ending up on the bay, I fully intend to use it. *smashin* -
Your not the 1st to say that !!!!! Now I'm worried. Nrthumblnd eh? well ok we dont have stuff to compete with that...... Although we dont have Makems either!
MACKEMS? Darken not this forum with your filthy utterings! I will have no further mention of those foul creatures. Also speak not of smoggies or monkey hangers.

I use the recently acquired Tascam MP-GT1. It's been a godsend.
Mr T, get one of your 'fly boys' to take you North 10 miles to the wolds...... rolling hills and beautiful scenery..... and Louth.... wonderful little town!
Mate, I wouldn't trust those idiots to take themselves to the toilet I've been to Louth and you're right it is lovely up there, coming from Northumberland originally though, I still find it difficult to deal with the lack of lumps in the ground.
-
I just wish they'd build some mountains or something around here. I'm about 15 miles from Boston and if you stand in the right place you can sometimes see the stump! Need something to break up the horizon.
I agree, is there really a need for this? Doesn't the report button allow for a bit of human (hopefully intelligent) intervention? Pete.
+1. Surely we all know the rules and the etiquette. IMHO I'm not sure it's really necessary, I can't remember seeing any seriously bad language.
