1.
Ahhh. The black on black with rosewood, blocks and bindings is the same as my first decent bass, a 74 Jazz which resisted the marbling, and 'the one that got away'. Far too rich for my blood now. Best of luck with the sale.
Many thanks
2. Sorry to hear about your malaise mate but at least you are on the mend and you got through the gig. I also had 'Royal Wedding' gig which is a tad hypocritical of me as I am a committed republican. However I am more of a musical tart and will take the coin where it's offered. On the way to the gig some bloke about 80 who should not be anywhere near a vehicle drove right into the side of my car, ( my Mrs car actually...how pleased was she boys and girls?). It took him about 20 minutes to write down his details and he had to refer to his drivers licence for his own address! So I'm late for the gig but it didn't matter because it was at a holiday camp on the Kent coast, ( I won't name them in case they are litigious), but the words 'piss-up' and 'brewery' spring to mind. They couldn't decide whether they wanted us inside or out; decided outside and told us where to play...in a car park....and having set up the bouncy castle man turned up and we had to move all of our gear to give him access. So we set back up and then they decide that they don't want us outside after all...they want us in the club house. So we break down the gear load up and drive to the clubhouse which has no stage....fair enough. 'Where do we set up' we ask the entertainments manager ...'just over there' he says pointing at a huge tv screen which is showing the royal proceedings and is being watched by about 150 people in the room. We're already 20 minutes past the time we are due to start so we had no option but to set up right in front of the tele thus ruining everybody's view. How about that as a way of endearing yourself to your audience? Surprisingly we went down very well to what can only be described as a mature 'middle England' audience. We were booked as a sing-a-long act and the guitarist I was working with does all the 'Underneath the Arches' & 'Lambeth Walk stuff. The gig before that was with a classic Rock/Blues outfit and the one before that was with my classic punk band. So I went from playing The Pistols and The Clash to Hendrix and Cream to Flanagan & Allen in successive gigs. Rock n' Roll eh!
3. Come on chaps.....This is a beauty
4. I bought this at a show hosted by Proel where I bought my much loved MarkBass 4x10. I thought it would be a good way to upgrade my PA but as this is active and my PA has a powered mixer and passive speakers it was never really compatible. I did know this and was intending to sell or part ex the existing PA for a passive desk and powered top speakers but five years on this has not happened . Consequently this has only being out of the box once to test it. Its never been gigged and it is as mint/as new as you can get. As with other gear I have to sell, ( see other ads), I am not interested in swaps or part ex's. It also needs to be picked up in Canterbury or possibly S.London/ Surrey. http://www.fbtusa.net/images/Maxx10SA.jpg £800 o.n.o. I will now take £600. These are £1300 new
5. Not much to say other than this is a very fine example of a an absolute classic. It has been well gigged and has a few nicks, dents and scratches, plus some marbling on the back but I would say it is very good condition for a 35 year old instrument. It comes with a , (non fender), hard case. No ashtrays. As with the other gear I have to sell, (see other ads), I am not interested in swaps or part ex's. It also needs to be picked up in Canterbury or possibly S.London/Surrey. £2000: NOW REDUCED TO £1850
6. Quite simply an exceptional instrument. Hand built to an extremely high standard with all of the usual Goodfellow features including piezo bridge PU. I bought it direct from Bernie and it has only been gigged about a dozen times. Its is consequently 'as new'. there is not a mark on it and it comes with a a bespoke Goodfellow hard case. It originally had gold hardware but then I changed my mind and decided on black , however the strap buttons were over-looked and I never got round to changing them. This really is 'an accident in the trousers' beautiful bass guitar. It was also a bit of a folly on my part. I was made redundant and had quite a lot of money so I decided to order a boutique bass. However I am essentially a 4 string Precision/Stingray man hence infrequent use. After much soul searching and having moved to a much smaller property I have decide to sell it. As with the other gear I am selling on here, (see other ads), I am not interested in swaps or part ex's. It also needs to be picked up either in Canterbury or possibly S.London/Surrey. I will listen to sensible offers but I do not consider 30% of the asking price plus 200 No:6 coupons to be a 'sensible offer'. £1500
7. For sale....Ampeg 'classic' 1x15 cab in excellent condition. Pick up only from Canterbury or possibly S.London/Surrey. Not interested in swaps or part ex's. Sensible offers only please. £275. Price drop...will now take £250..FURTHER PRICE DROP £225 I am having problems with the pic sharing site so until I can sort it, if you send me an email address I can mail them to you. Now sorted see below.
8. Did you buy it? I've been after one for ages. Should have bought on from GAK in Brighton when I had the opportunity. I was told that they are now out of production.
9. I've been meaning to do this for a while and having just read through the 'best quotes' thread I wish I had joined earlier. If I ever meet the guy who drew the flow chart on the panflute effect he can drink on me all night. ABOUT ME... Fifty, fat & bald; been playing bass 36 years and been semi-pro for about 30. Just over a year ago I left my native S.London for the calmer environs of Canterbury and have now got fed up with driving 600 miles a week just to get to and from work and therefore I have decided to give up the day job. Consequently I shall soon be living on my wits and my gig money both of which are pitifully inadequate. I am consolodating my gear and will be listing the items for sale on here once I have figured out how the site operates. I am essentially a Precision/Stingray man. I have also been using Mark Bass gear for several years now and this despite seeing them demo'd for the 1st time by Jeff Berlin! I am thinking about buying a Bare Faced Super 12, but again more of that later. I am basically looking forward to coming home from gigs/rehearsals, logging on here and moaning about and/or celebrating my bandmates/gear/the audience/the venue/the money/the traffic etc etc to people who will understand where I am coming from. I am also looking forward to the witty banter, hopefully contributing to it and also having it 'ripped out of me' when I get too up myself. My interests outside of music are many and varied it's just that I don't care as much about them, (apart from sex & beer possibly). So take pity on an old git and say hello. Cheers Pete
