DOD 250 reissue

Good stuff, glad you're pleased with it Joe. Wasn't getting any use at home, so I'm glad its now "out in the trenches", so to speak.
2. I would recommend at least a 30watt iron myself, simply because it will maintain temperature better should you happen to blow on it, or should a moth flutter by unexpectedly The best advice I can give when soldering is to heat the joint, not the solder. When soldering wires, twist them together and heat them with the iron, then apply the solder and if the joint is at the correct temperature it should flow evenly through the joint. Be careful when applying heat to components where the heat may cause joints inside or further down the wire to melt, though!
3. I wish I had one to go with my Little Mark, that's for sure! Portability is one thing, but that's a classic amp right there! Edit - Oh, by the way, as far as I know, the Bass version is the same as the guitar version, but the EQ is voiced more for bass. So, just a different EQ board, but the same power section. I think.
4. That is really nice. Incomprehensible paint job, but a great colour!
5. As far as I know John Paul Jones used to use those amps in Zepplin. I'd suggest increasing your input signal. A volume boost before the input stage should push the valves into soft clipping (nice overdrive). Something like an overdrive pedal with the gain down and volume up should do it.
6.
Also check out home grown stuff like status graphite (www.status-graphite.com) and their direct replacement f*nder p & j necks. Good luck with the project. Wil
+1. I'm putting a Status Jazz neck on my current project. The build quality and feel of Status necks is amazing. I've heard great things about Modulus as well, but with Status on our doorstep...
7. I bet your guitarist hates you
8. Also, are you actively looking for bands who are missing a bass player on these sites and getting in touch, rather than just waiting for one to see your ad?

I've got one, and I like it but don't use it anymore. The overdrive sounds best at low gain, adds a hint of grit, and it does a good volume boost which again adds a nice grit. Up the gain and things get a bit fizzy, but that's not what the pedal is about. Would be great for pushing a valve amp I'd say. The LED thing is annoying, but it should be an easy mod at least!
11. I'd say go for it. I'm building a parts bass at the moment with the body from my first Encore, and speccing it out just how I want it. I'm attached to it already and it doesnt even have a neck yet!
12. Take The Power Back by Rage Against the Machine.
13. I know! Oh well, at least if it sells on basschat/finnbass/Statii etc its "in the family" so to speak Merton, your Status J has actually partially inspired my current Encore P bass project - all black body and hardware with a Status neck, only probably a lefty neck for the reverse headstock look... need to have at least one graphite neck around you see!
14. I've always used 3, with a 3, 2, 1 pattern. I do alternate between 2 and 3 for some passages, as for 16th note string skipping 2 is more precise. I tend to add a lot of triplet embellishments in that wouldn't feel as natural to execute with 2 fingers. If I'm pounding a straight 4/4 line on one string I'll count it as 3, 2, 1, 3 - 2, 1, 3, 2 - 1, 3, 2, 1, sometimes putting emphasis on the 1 in each bar, if it suits, whichever finger that might be. It's a bit odd I suppose but as I've been doing it for so long it feels pretty natural to me.
15. I was thinking of doing this exact thing with my frank-encore project, spooky! The left hand neck does look sweet.
16.
in my opinion, any bass with more than four strings needs less. after all, jaco never used a five string. nor does victor wooten. or flea. or les claypool. or most of the great bass players.
A low B is a great thumbrest - fact. I bet Jaco never played any doom metal numbers, either
17.
You're having a laugh, right? Trevor Horn - a bassist himself - should hang his head in shame for letting TATU do the Smiths. By halfway through the first line, you can tell they don't understand what they are singing: "I am the son..." ! As for No Doubt's remake of It's My Life: could have been worse, but the original is still close to perfect in my estimation, making the remake just exploitation. OTOH, Muse's rendition of Feeling Good is not half bad...
Forgot about that No Doubt cover. It was excellent, I thought.
18. Double damn! So do I now!
19. These are stunning looking cabs. Probably way out of my price range, though.
20. A month later, and I've not touched my S2 apart from a quick noodle here and there. I do believe that a bass this fine deserves to be played every day, so I've decided that its now definately up for sale. *Price edited out as it's now on ebay, and I want to let the auction run its course* I do believe I will be purchasing a G&L Asat semi hollow with the proceeds, as I'm going back to 4 strings with a drop tuner for the most part and enjoying a more traditional vibe! So, trades for a semi hollow Asat will be entertained, providing its the right colour and has a maple board...
21. Radiohead do an ace live cover of Nobody Does it Better.
22. I was very tempted by the one Shockwave was selling, just didn't think it would be loud enough to cut through my drummer. If it had been though, or if I was in a quieter band, I wouldn't hesitate to pay £300-£350 for one.
23. Welcome to the forum! Be careful not to trip over the egos on your way in.
24. Take a little piece of my heart - Dusty Springfield Too young to die - Jamiroquai Taxman - Beatles I was made to love her - Stevie Wonder
"Ha ha, he's rubbish, he's no good, it's hilarious that he's rubbish, I'm great, I'm so good that I laugh at people who aren't asd good as me, I'm awesome." This forum gets meaner by the day. He's having a crack at a song, in a band, doing his best. Did all of you fall out of the womb with mad skills? What if that kid posts here? What gives you the right to link to that just to laugh at him? This is NOT what being a bass community should be about.
It's not like it once was, that's for sure. Hardly supporting your fellow bassists, is it?
