1. Show me the money!
2. Bought Bassjamm's USA Jazz today. Bass was as described, its a beaut. Jamie was easy and pleasant to deal with, no problems at all.
3. Bought his BCR Mockingbird ages ago. Sure I posted feedback in the old forum, but sale was smooth, Rob is a great guy to deal with and the bass was as described.
4. I've just bought BassJamm's lovely US Jazz today - I really have no need for more basses at the moment. So, my fit of madness is over, I'm sure you'll be pleased to hear! Officially withdrawn. I'll spend some time with the Jazz and come back to this one in time, and if needs be get a fretless neck made.
5. Well, an Alembic preferably I'm starting to think I'm insane as well. Am I? Maybe I should get a fretless neck from Status for it in order to add some variety...
6. I'd consider older Warwick 5s as well, before the necks went to ovankol - Dolphin Pro 1s, Thumbs, and Streamer Stage 2s...
7. Looks very nice, but doesnt really grab me, sorry
8. True. They do use it on the Rockbass line though. I think as most Warwicks are a natural finish and Alder is quite a plain wood, they may reserve it for painted basses? Its still an excellent tonewood. My wood identification skills aren't the best though, so it may not be alder at all...
9.
My fretless S2? Totally different beast. Edit: Hmm, actually - I'll pass; I could live with the bolt on, but not with a head
I knew you'd draw the line at the head!
10. My girlfriend rides horses and gets GAS for saddles, even when she has a few anyway. Its human nature I think.
11. Good thinking Ped, I will do that.
12. Alder, perhaps?
13. If there was another bass that had so far caught my eye, then indeed that would be fine... alas, alac, however, the kind of basses I'm after are not known for being particularly common on the used market.
14. Gorgeous quilting on that maple, too!
15. The Hatchet is having its usual bank holiday extravaganza on Sunday. Hot hot hotdog contest, whatever that is, but as far as I know it equates to free food! http://www.voodoojunkie.com/voodooboard/vi...pic.php?t=12537
16. Very nice, that. The passion has a truley unique and classy look, I think.
17. That's a shame indeed, I must have missed all that.
18. Only looking for trades really, as I'd need an equally fine bass to remove the sting of parting with this one
19. My S2 classic is the nicest bass I've ever owned. The fit and finish are immaculate, it plays easier than any bass I've ever played, and the range of tones available is immense. Still, I'm finding that the bass I pick up most is my Series 1, and as they are so similar, its making me think I cant really justify having this one sitting around. I had this made for me earlier this year direct from Status. Its a Walnut body with Tiger Maple (sounds far cooler than Flamed Maple ) front wings and a walnut tone block. 2 octave graphite bolt on neck, monorail bridge, and the standard S2 preamp (bass, treble, mid freq select and mid cut/flat/boost switch). The colour is Aqua Blue but its actually more a sea green/turquoise in the flesh. I had it finished in high gloss at extra cost, and its a very high quality finish. Tonally it can go from snappy bright high mid growl to low mid burp to mid scooped funk slap heaven - the 18 volt EQ is very powerful. It does a great Billy Gould Faith No More tone, a great later John Entwistle tone, a great Mark King-esq slap tone, a great Stu Zender style fingerstyle tone, hell, it does a lot of really great tones. The graphite neck adds a great deal of clarity and is rock solid. Action is low, could go ultra low if needs be without problems. Tightest B I've used as well. Pics: I reserve the right to be a indecisive sod and change my mind about its availabilty at any point, blubbering like a child as I do so
20. Well, I must say, I have a tendancy to lust after basses even when I'm going through periods of not playing much. They have a certain mystical quality that makes me want to own them! Like collecting antiques I suppose. Once I get my hands on the bass I'm after there's always a honeymoon period and then my affections will move onto something else. I'm pretty much expectant now that whenever I buy a bass, no matter what it is, I will eventually become a bit bored with it and want to get something else, but that keeps things interesting I guess!
21. Is that all the Bristolians? Does Tanya still post on here?
22. And here I am representing the Lawrence Weston contingent. Its all about the west side although I'd be quite happy to get out of Lawrence Weston to be honest, 3 times my house has been burgled!
23. Ok, no worries. Thanks for the advice Beedster!
24. This would fit a USA Jazz I presume? If its not gone by the time I get my paypal account sorted out I'll have it off ya!
25. Go for it. What do you have to lose? Look for a local band who needs a bassist, ask them if they have any tunes to learn before you turn up to the first rehearsal, and if they think you're suitable you're away. If not, no harm done, try another band. Once you're in a band you'll build experience and confidence quickly.
