1. A great playing Jack Casady in Gold Top finish. This bass has been regularly gigged and plays like a dream, it was set up by Stuart Palmer who was responsible for the work on Gary Mounfield's basses prior to the Stone Roses comeback tour ten years ago. He worked on the Damien Hirst decorated versions of the Jack Casady basses and has made a huge difference to this one which plays like a dream due to a wonderfully low action, the key of which is in the top nut. Apparently. The label inside is orange which I believe means something in terms of when it was made, I think I purchased around 2013? The case is an original Epiphone item, with signs of travel, it's been a working guitar up until very recently. They're not cheap and that's why the package is £500, the cases are £130 new. I can ship it but I'd rather not, if you want to ship then please arrange a courier and I will assure a well packaged and secure bass. Any questions, please let me know, it is what it is and there's loads more information on these out there as they're still in production. Thank You.
2. 1974 Fender Precision Bass - Sunburst. Another reluctant sale due to some building work I have to get done at home. This is a great player, lovely tone with some typical looks from the era. The finish is so thin on top of a finished natural body. I played this as my main bass for a very long time, lovely feel and a very typical tone for the 70’s Fenders. 4KG. On the nose. (According to my Amazon Basics luggage scale) Pickups - Rewound by Iain’s Guitar Repairs in Glasgow, about 5 years ago. The old windings completely gave up on one side so this had to be done. Paint - Tired? It’s a very thin finish. Frets - Good. Original. Neck - Lacquered and in good straight condition, truss rod works fine. Pots - I replaced the tone pot when I first bought the bass, it was far too noisy, I kept the old one in case. Scratchplate - I don’t think this is the original, unless Fender sourced them from somewhere else in the 70’s?? It’s correct as black but not badged as a Fender product. Looks the part though. There’s also a Fender original replacement included, in 60’s tortoise shell. Tuners - Original. Pickup and Bridge covers, original and all present and correct, including the thumb rest. I don’t have screws for the pickup cover, but these can be sourced easily enough. Case - Pretty poor quality item, not original but will suffice. Shipping - Arrange it yourself, I can get good guitar boxes through my job so the bass will be well packed but I’d rather collect, drop off, meet up etc, just for safety. No trades please, I need the money. These basses are becoming so much more collectable and expensive these days, this one is very playable and LIGHT, some of them, (I’ve had a few) are very heavy and numb, this one not so. It’s a good one. Nearly 50 years old. Like Me. (I’m a 74 too)
3. June 1964 Fender Precision Bass. Acquired by myself in Scotland in 2020. I have it on good authority that it was purchased in Edinburgh in 1966 in this colour, originally intended to be Fiesta Red. There are some traces of what I think might be Sunburst under the Red which are visible near the neck heel. I bought this from a friend who purchased it as part of a job lot from the original owner, who gave us all the information above re original purchase dates etc. I think any buyer would probably want to discuss and look in detail at the bass, so I will do my best to facilitate this in a timely fashion. I travel around quite a bit so could possibly arrange a meeting if possible, anywhere between Scotland’s central belt and the South coast of England. A few key points about the bass. Yes, it’s a refinish, I know. But it was painted in this colour sometime between being completed in the US and being sold in the UK in 1966. Call that what you will. All parts original with the exception of the following. Strap button on the rear of the headstock and the top horn. They were missing. Volume pot. Seized solid so replaced with a new Fender vintage repro part. I have kept the original pot, featured on the (in situ) pictures. Scratchplate - Generally good with some scorch marks near the controls. Pickups - verified as correct, sound fantastic. Tuners - All good and working. The bass was refretted using original spec thin fret wire when I bought it, the original frets were too low. This work was carried out by Stuart Palmer in Doncaster who was happy to verify that the bass was right and as it should be. The neck has been varnished over at some point, it’s a smooth job on the neck playing area but the headstock has seen some pooling from overspray? Apparently this was quite a common practice way back when. I have gigged this bass quite a lot, and it sounds fantastic, whether recorded or live it just performs, loads of feedback for the player through the old wood and it looks fantastic under the lights on any stage. The paint has become a lot more Orange than Fiesta Red but it seems to change under certain lighting and always looks cool. It’s light too, 3.95Kg. I’ll do my best to answer any serious questions, so please feel free to ask. Serious enquiries only please. I know these things attract a unique type of critique and I know it’s an expensive item. I’m selling it as an appreciating asset, and this is a rare chance to own a piece of the story. I created a sound clip to help with any demo.. Thanks for looking.
4. The latest updates for Podgo and Podgo Wireless bring a in a few more Ampeg features, from the pedals range, originally developed under the previous owners of Ampeg but still pretty good and well priced units. Expect to see more features such as those used on Ampeg SVT Suite in future modelling boxes and updates, not official news but just a hunch I have that this will filter across. https://ampeg.com/svt-suite/ Dave. Line6 firmware updates.pdf
5. Thanks for the responses to this post, much appreciated. The last couple of years have really slowed down any development and plans for new products from Yamaha / Ampeg recently, as soon as I could share anything I would love to get the opinions from the forum. OK, that may be a little dangerous as I'm sure I'd get a healthy mix, but the feedback would be really useful. Dave.
6. I'm relatively new to this forum, or at least being active on here. I joined recently to sell some gear and 48 hours from listing 2 basses I had sold them. Just a note to say that this is a great forum full of like minded and generally sound people and I will be trying to get into the stuff that goes on a little more over the coming months. it's a great place to do business and with such great people. Just to be transparent, I work for Yamaha, my role being to sell Yamaha, Ampeg and Line 6 products. Any help I can offer in that area, then I will do my best, I might even be able to run a few prototypes past you for some opinions here and there. Obviously this is not an official connection, it's my personal account and not endorsed by my employer, due to legal compliance there's only so far I can go with matters, but i will do my best. Thanks Basschat, impressed.
7. Thank You, but I’m not too fussed for a trade. Just needs to go or stay. Appreciate your offer though. 👍
8. NOW SOLD. Thank you. These basses have a real Hi-Def sound to them, there's a load of clarity in the tone pot high end, and the neck and body are fantastically stable. The neck joint and acoustic treatment of the body make them play like nothing else, takes some getting used to but it's an enjoyable journey. I'm selling this as the BBP, or BB in general will fit my collection as a 5 string, so that's what I'm getting when I sell it. There are some marks! Not like new, has been played, not many gigs though. Really well set up, very slow action and responds to the changes you need effortlessly. All case candy and tools present. Case never used for transport, excellent condition. Weight - 4.20Kg I got a decent deal when I bought it through a few trades etc, so I am happy to pass this on, the bass being generally cheaper than the market dictates presently. Thanks for looking .
9. This amp is now back on the market after a sale fell through, I get around a bit so may be able to meet up somewhere if you're interested. Dave. Reluctant sale but I have recently picked up an SVT-VR, nowhere near as convenient as this amp but matches my cabinet and has the headroom I need. Full working order. 100 Watts Weighs about 20KG. These are a great alternative to a full on SVT Classic, this one being in the black livery as opposed to the modern ones which are Silverface. On the 100 Watt amps you can utilise the gain a lot more than on the 300 Watt SVT's. The weight is an obvious advantage too as it's a comfortable one man lift with the side handles. The sound is as you would expect, loads of character and the simple tone circuit delivers perfectly. I have used this at 200 / 300 capacity clubs and you do need to turn up the volume to a point where you could never get the SVT, but it does have the headroom and sounds amazing through my SVT212 cabinet. USA made, doesn't mean a lot to some people, but to others it's everything, and this one is a US version. Fitted with GrooveTubes as I have tried to photograph. I haven't had it serviced in the time I have owned it, but it works fine and if it doesn't sell I will get it seen to fully with a re-tube. Thanks for looking. Happy to travel and meet up for a serious buyer ands happy to demo to the best of my ability if possible on the sale. I don't want to ship it, I would if pushed as I have a perfect dual layer box from a the SVT-AV I now own, this however would have to be at the full cost of the buyer and would be better as a collection / drop-off which they would have to arrange. Appreciate you looking, thank you.
10. Hello. I'll be trying to sell a few things on here over the next few weeks, thank you for reading. This is my 64 re-issue Jazz Bass. The pictures should tell the story but here's a few points which will hopefully help. This bass has been gigged, it's not immaculate at all, there are marks and scratches and some degradation of the nitro finish. Please be aware of this when looking and beyond. I've tried my best to represent the flaws. Plays great, sounds great. Fitted with a Fender original Tortoise Shell scratch plate but the original one is in the case, I think the white one makes it look like a bathroom fitting but this was changed before I bought it, I am the second owner and I've had it for about four years. Weight - 4.15Kg. Case - Perfect condition, never used for travel, always in a good gig bag. Wiring and pickups, bridge etc, all original as per Fender 20914 release, no changes made to this bass. 60's original spec with mutes in the bridge cover and braided wiring etc. All case accessories present and not used, including lead, strap, Fender repro guide from 60 instrument releases. I'll try my best to respond to messages as soon as I can, please be patient however as I'll be checking as time allows. I don't want to ship it, I can travel to meet any potential buyer, I get around the country quite a lot and should be able to work something out. Happy to show the bass to any potential buyer, I want the new owner to be happy with their purchase. We're on the same side as far as I see it. Thank You.
11. I have a Warwick on for sale on these pages, I'd consider a trade, have a look at the bass, it's the BLACK one. Custom thru neck German made etc etc etc.......it's all on the ad, and it's going cheap ! Regards. Dave.
12. SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD ! Hello. I'm looking for a good home for this bass at a great price, it's a full German bred Warwick Streamer Stage I With split coil and J pickups. I will assume that anyone who's looking will have a certain amount of bass knowledge so won't patronise by going into the details, I am aware however that some Warwick controls differ so must explain that this bass has a 3 band eq, master volume and an active bypass push/pull. Pickup blend is on the ring pot below the volume. I have come to Basschat to offer this, because it's a genuine honest sale, and the price is so cheap at £899, one of these new will cost well over 2k, and this bass is in ex demo condition, there are no marks whatsoever, NONE. Why am I selling??? Because when I was playing with a function band last year, I wanted something active and light, however after a couple of practices I could not get used to this and realised I had made a mistake. I am in the music trade, so £899 is the price I paid for it, better than a trade price, and I am selling it in the Warwick flight case, not standard with the bass, it just comes with the bag. I am now playing my 92 "longhorn" jazz bass, with a badass 2 bridge, Delano pickups and a John East J Retro pre amp, that's eventually where I got my active circuit from, shame about the weight, but hey ho. I've done my best with pictures but could take some more for interested parties, or you could come and look at the bass in Skipton North Yorkshire. I also get about a bit with my job, virtually anywhere in the north and Scotland, so perhaps I could bring it to you?? My original Ebay ad is pasted in below. Warwick Streamer Stage 1, German Manufacture in Custom Shop black - Black Hardware - Everything !! This bass has recently been for sale elsewhere and was temporarily withdrawn due to interest from a potential buyer which unfortunately fell through. 2006 Model in high gloss black, all hardware in black also, I am told this is a custom option, either way it makes up for a nice finish to a very distinctive professional instrument. The bass plays superbly and has been on display in store before being bought by myself, unfortunately it has transpired to be one bass too many and consequently has to be sold. The bass is complete with Warwick flight case and full owners kit including truss rod adjuster, cleaning cloth, allen keys, straplocks and owners manual. I am selling as a used item to avoid any confusion, but to be totally fair the condition has to be given as 9/10 - No scratches or signs of playing, it loses a point because some of the gold paint used on the MEC pickups has come off on the split coil, nothing major, you can see this in the photos. NEED MORE PHOTOS?? Let me know, I can email better shots on request. Features include * Adjustable nut * Active circuit, pickup blend, three band EQ with push/pull treble boost, master volume. * Flamed maple AA body * Flamed maple neck * Wenge fingerboard * Black hardware * Serial Number - D-124181-06 * Produced 12/06/2006 I will ship in the case, obviously with insurance and all necessary precautions. I'll also secure the catches with cable ties, you can simply cut these off once received.
