1.
Hi there, could be interested in these, could you tell me what the width of the cabs are. I'm only down the road in Stroud, and work in Cheltenham. Cheers Jem
Cabs are 19" wide, 19" tall and 13" deep. Cheers
2. That looks stunning. Most impressed.
3. I've got a pair of Ashdown ABM Mini Cabs for sale. I have the 1x15 and 4x8 cabs both in really good condition, a couple of little knocks but that's about it. Both cabs are 8 ohm. I seem to remember the 1x15 being 300w and the 4x8 being 600w - I'll check and attach pictures to confirm a bit later. I've just sold my ABM EVO II 500 head due to it not getting the use it was intended for and now these cabs need to go too. £280 for the pair or £140 each - would prefer to sell as a pair. Collection from Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire but I work in Swindon so delivery between the two wouldn't be a problem. Any questions just drop me a message. Cheers
4. Still thinking about selling this......I have the original checker plate scratch plate for this - forgot I'd change it!! I've attached a couple of photos of the small dents.
5. Thanks Si600 for organising this. Was great to meet up again and try out some great gear. Always good to catch up with Andy and discuss self builds. Nice to catch up with everyone else and try out various basses and amps; particularly liked the Vigier bass - very nice, and really pleasantly surprised with the sound and low weight of Norris's Rumble 500. Hope to meet up with everyone and more next year. Cheers again Jez
6. Had a mad rush to get this done for the Midlands bass bash and just managed to get it done! Really pleased how it turned out and really impressed how it sounded. Still got the fretless bass to do but that might have to wait for some house DIY to get done first.
7. G.Walker94 bought my ABM 500 from me. Really good communication and completely hassle free. Friendly chap and the ABM sounded very nice with his Peavey 4x10 and jazz bass. Hope the amp serves you well. Thanks again. Jez
8. Body now complete and loaded. Been making a neck for this from left overs, so not strictly recycled but that is coming on - just needs fretting and lacquering. Still hoping to get this done for the Midlands Bass Bash next weekend.....
9. I've got a Peavey Micro Bass practice amp in good condition for sale. Reasonable little practice amp but I no longer need it. Collection from Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire.
10. [s]Just a feeler at the moment as I'm thinking of selling this USA SUB bass as I'm just not using it much and am being instructed that I have too much stuff........[/s] As is the way, something has appeared for sale that I'd be interested in so whilst that is available this is up for sale....... The name of this gets a bit confusing.......it is a Musicman SUB bass made in the USA. It is the 'Sterling' one rather than the 'Stingray' one which you normally see. This bass is active, has a 3 band eq and has a slightly smaller body and thinner neck than the Stingray version. It is in really good condition; there are one small dent on the back that has a tiny piece of pain missing (thanks, delivery company...) and a couple of really small dents you can just feel on the back of the neck. Here's a couple of pictures for the moment. As I say, I'm not certain I want to move this on but I might be made to!!
11. Cheers for the replies. Hadn't thought about Hartke amps - will have a look into them. Wish Id have seen that 110 on ebay.....
12. If you haven't been before, this is a relaxed opportunity to talk bass, try other folks gear and sample the exceedingly good cakes! And you will be in Leicester to sample the great atmosphere as they win the Premiere League!! (Sorry....)
13. I'm thinking about a smallish, lightweight amp for doing some stuff with a couple of acoustic guitars/open mic type thing. I'm kind of thinking of a used EBS Session 60 or Line 6 Lowdown 110 as they seem to go for round the £100 mark. I'm thinking of these as they might be a flexible solution as the can be DI'd if I need that option. Both amps seem to get quite good reviews - I'm leaning more to the Line 6 based on size and weight. I was also thinking about the EBS Session 30 as that is a little more compact but not sure if that would be a bit tinny but I like the size of it and the DI option again. If anyone has any experience of any of these in a similar situation, please could you let me know what you think. Cheers Jez
14. I was thinking of one of these then using the head with a couple of TC cabs if I wanted a bit more noise. Found this link on their site which says you can't without voiding the warranty. Shame really, would have been much more flexible. 15. Yep - even if it isn't finished!!
16. Crikey. What is going on this year?
17. This build really is going slower than I hoped but I'm hoping to get some more done this weekend. I got the control plate back from plating this week and I'm really pleased how it looks on the body.
18. A few updates... Got a quote for the chroming so control plate will be sent off this week. I've finished applying the lacquer by brush and am now in the process of sanding and polishing. Have to say so far, the finish is coming up really nicely. I've also fitted a piezo bridge to my fretless bass and really pleased how it looks. I need to sort the wiring out and some sort of buffer circuit.
19. That's interesting. I have a few of elements to try on one of my builds; bog standard a Artec element, flexible wire type and then a Shadow SH064. The Artec and the flexible elements were about £5 each, whereas the Shadow is around £65. Be interesting to see what the difference is!
20.
Hey Jabber, I'll try to remember to call a guy I know on Monday. He does plating of metals. I'll let you know what he would charge.
Thanks - much appreciated. I've found one firm that is much more reasonable but still about £20 per plate. That probably isn't unreasonable, I'm just trying to get it done really cheap!!
21. I'm liking that! Out of interest, how much did you hollow out? Did you cut pockets or one big space and brace the top?
22.
The suspense is killing me!
Not managed to get on with this as much as I wanted recently. But I have got a few things done. I'm currently lacquering one of the bodies by brushing rather than spraying. These needs a fair bit of paint it on, sand it off but I think it will give a nice finish. I've finished both piezo bridges and have a couple of elements to try The other body still needs sanding. I have put the veneer in the slots on the fretboard and I think it is looking quite nice. One thing I haven't managed to do yet is find someone cheap to chrome the control plates - had a few quotes but I'm looking for something very cheap!!
