1. Bought a pickup from Andrew. Exactly as described and great communication throughout. Cheers again Jez
2.
This is probably more complicated than you want but is there any way to split it into two equal thickness sheets and have a core of a different timber?
Hi, I could possibly split the wood and make the core from a different wood which would look nice - the wood is rippled sycamore and would contrast nicely with many othe woods. At the moment though I`m looking at trying to keep it as a one piece body. This is just due to the grain pattern - the wood is plain sawn and the pattern looks almost book matched even though it is a single piece. The wood was kiln dried and has been in the house for over a year now so should have now stopped moving (I hope!!) Cheers
3. Cheers for all the replies. I kind of thought it would be okay but am surprised how thin some other basses are that are out there!! I've got a pre -amp and MEC p'ups from a Thumb I was going to use but the push/pull pot is far too deep - will have to keep that for another build. Thanks again for your input - that's one of the things I like about Basschat!!
4. Hi, A quick question to the bass builders out there. I have a nice slab of wood that would make a 1 piece body but it is 'only' 36mm thick. Is that an issue? I could add facings to it to make I around 44mm thick but that would hide the current surface which is really nicely grained. I'd be interested in anyone's opinion / experience. Cheers Jez
5. It's been a long while but I've actually done some work on this bass!! Neck is underway - block inlays and white LEDs which I think look quite nice without being too bling. Hoping to get this one done for May this year but could be tight!! I used the Delano pickups on another build so this is now going to be fitted with a pair of Bartonlini jazz pickups. Think I will keep this passive for the moment. Already been told by the wife that I need to sell this when I'm done as there are too many basses around......we'll see!!
6. Got to say that I wouldn't use my Dremel for pickup routing as I have always found my router attachment flexes a bit when you try to cut larger objects. I have a standard Black and Decker router and always use a template, I wouldn't attempt to cut a pocket freehand even if it was under a scratchplate but that's just me!!! I make the templates myself from 6 or 8mm mdf and that usually takes longer to make than it does to cut the pickup pockets but this does give me a template I can use again to accurately cut that style of pickup in the future. Cheers
7. I bought an original series bass off a friend at school 25 years ago. It had fallen forward from a stand and took the head off. Originally I bought it for parts as I was thinking of building my own bass at the time but I got my dad to stick it back together. I still have it and still really like it. I keep thinking of sending it back to Overwater to get it refinished, might do one day. Still, £60 well spent I think......... Why not make your own - it's for your own use and not being sold as a copy, or being passed off as the original item. Good luck!!
8. Hello and welcome!! I sold a Yamaha BB604 a few months back - that was a really nice sounding, slim necked active bass. I would have kept it but didn't have the space. Went for £120 in the end and well worth the money. Cheers
9. Gone to NoirBass. Cheers

12. I have a copy of American Basses by Jim Roberts if anyone would like it. The quality of the pictures is pretty poor in this particular copy but it is still an intersting book. Cheers
13. Pm'd
14. Sold a small Westfield bass to Dave - what an easy and polite guy to deal with. Hope you enjoy the bass. Cheers, Jez
15. Another price drop bump
16. Traded a Sub bass with Martin for a Markbass cab. Martin keeps his gear in great condition. I've traded stuff with him previously and would have no hesitation in doing so again in the future. Top bloke. Cheers again, Jez
17. Photo added - will try to add some more
18. Bump - can't attach any photos. Seen something on here that I'd be interested in so I have dropped the asking price....
