1. Glad you liked it. Many thanks for the kind words
2. I'd also like to add my thanks to Si600 and Roland Rock or organising his event - much appreciated. I haven't been to one before but will definitely going again. It was a really was nice to meet such a friendly bunch of folk and to see and try out various different amps and basses - there was quite an array of completely different kit! I must admit, I particularly liked Nick's 5 string MTD and TC rig but there was also Wil's Status/Warmoth jazz and PJB cabs, Prime_bass's set-up, 72Delux's Warwicks and playing, Matt's Gretsch Baritone and numerous others. And not to forget a delicious slice of orange cake (really was very nice)!! Thanks and look forward to meeting you all again. Cheers Jez
3. I'll bring a GK MB200 and an Ashdown minicab. I'll bring 2 home made basses for comment and opinion!!!
4. Hi Ben, Cheers. Not completely decided on the finish but leaning towards a water based gloss lacquer for the body. I've used the satin version before and that seems good so might give the gloss a try; I will use satin on the neck though, Jez
5. Hi Rubis, I got the body and neck wood from Nugget - the body wood was a trade but the neck wood was ordered with some wood Nugget was buying for himself. I'll try to find the details of the seller and forward it to you as the wood is lovely and was reasonably priced. Seem to remember it costing about £50 but I got two necks out of it. Looking forward to trying the Delano pickups!! Cheers Jez
6. I'll definitely be there - will bring two basses that I had in the build diaries. I'll bring a couple of pedals, an MB200 and either an Ashdown 4x8 or 1x15 mini cab. Looking forward to it. Cheers Jez
7. Finally getting on with this build! Routing is complete for neck pocket, control cavity, bridge, tail piece and pick ups. I've rounded the body edges but still have some body contouring to do followed by lots of sanding!! Cheers
8. Used with light surface scratching and pitting. £5+postage[/s] [s]Neck plate, bridge and control plate. All excellent condition. £10+postage[/s] Pair of jazz bass pickups. Bought these off eBay a while. Sold as coming from a MIM jazz bass but I can’t confirm that. Both pickups are the same size. Light surface scratching but good condition overall. £12+postage Spare tuner bits. One complete tuner and a few bits. Might be useful to fix a broken one. £2+postage Reel of lead free solder 250g bought to solder the controls on my bass builds. £19.99 at Maplin but they were doing them on a BOGOF the other week so I have a spare reel. £10+postage Cheers J
9. I'll stick a note in my calendar - hopefully I'll be free. I'll bring along my own home made basses as something different. Cheers
10. Ah yes, that body is a lovely piece of wood ad might just might look very similar to the wood on a bass you made!! The neck wood might also look familiar....... The LEDs are some surface mount ones soldered onto some stripboard to make them easier t wire up. They're a right pain to solder as each one is only about 2mm x 2.5mm and require some patience. The side dots are done using some 1mm diameter fiber optic cable with some heat shrink sleeving around it to make it look tidy. I'll try and add some more photos and explanation later. Cheers
11. Sold some tuners to Ian. Nice polite chap and easy to deal with. Cheers again. Jez
12. I've put bass build #4 on hold for a while as I've started another build!! This one will have a rippled ash body, flamed maple neck and an ebony fretboard. There will be a Warwick 2 piece bridge, Delano hybrid pickup, 2 band eq and green LED edge fret markers. I've made new templates for making this. So far the body blank is marked out, the neck rough cut and the truss road fitted and the LEDs have been installed into the fretboard. On a previous build, I fitted LEDs to the face of the fretboard but this time I'm fitting them on the side.
13. This looks like it could be good for someone handy at fixing amps. 14. Bought a pair of pickups off Lee for a project. Well packaged and posted quickly. He even chucked in a second set of pickups which he thought I might be able to make use of - really generous. Thanks again.
