1.
I have a G&L L2000 if that floats your boat
Maybe yeah, is it a US one? Could you send me some details via PM? Cheers.
2. In no particular order, the best 5 basses I've ever owned: Kinal MK-5 1978 Fender Precision Overwater Progress 3 Deluxe 5 1985 Yamaha BB 3000S Musicman Stingray. Honourable mentions to an Ibanez K5, my current MIJ Squier Precision, and two Laklands, a DJ4 and a JO4, brilliant basses one and all. Wish I still had every one of them.
3. Not a JV, but a 1990 K series MIJ Squier, easily the best Precision I've ever played, and only 200 quid from the bay. Beautiful neck, big tone and lovely with flats. I defy any JV to be 800 quid better than this: If I could find it's Jazz brother I'd be happier than a pig in sh*t.
4. Outstanding sir. Wish I could've had your CAR one, it would've sat nicely next to my Precision........with flats on.
5. I'd give both of my testicles, a leg, and a kidney for that set up, and you could make a very tasty pie with the proceeds.
6. Yum, perfect set up, you'll never need anything else. I could be in the market for a new bass shortly, and now I'm thinking 75 RI Jazz too!
7. YEAHH.... awesome, some nice upright bass playing too.
8. Agreed, for resale or collectability, the decals are everything, but as far as how the thing plays and sounds, it really can mean nothing at all, again, only my opinion.
9. IMO my 1990 MIJ Squier Precision is as good a Precision as I've ever played, period. That includes custom shop MIAs, JVs etc etc, I've tried them all, and as nice as many of them were (Homers' P5 was particularly nice) for 200 quid from ebay (admittedly in a sorry state until I restored it) my Squier was a steal, and paying a grand for a JV is mad to me. It'd have to be utterly perfect at that price. There's so much cobblers spoken about 'vintage' gear. I've played some absolute dogs from the 70s and 80s, and owned a couple too, on the flip side I had a very nice 78 Precision I wish I still had, but honestly, I believe my £200 Squier is better. It doesn't matter where or when a bass was made, or by whom, it just matters that it plays and sounds great to you. Forget about the decals on the headstock, it really can be irrelevant.
10. Hot damn.....if my guitar sells on the bay later this week, I'll be back for this puppy, assuming it's still here of course.
11. Thanks so much Dave, yes, I'll miss it for sure. Now ebayed.
12. Thanks very much for the offer mate, but it's very simillar to a bass I just sold, and not quite what I'm after at the moment.
13. Back from holiday bump. PMs replied to. Price dropped to a final £850. That's as low as I think it's fair to go.
14. If I could sell my Gretsch I'd be PMing you now, I'd love this bass.
15. Pre holiday bump. I'm away for a week from tomorrow, so I'll reply to any messages when I get back. I'm open to offers on this, ideally I'd like a nice Jazz or Stingray, or maybe a Sandberg PM or JM, and I've always wanted a Warwick Streamer Stage 1 or 2, something along those lines anyway.
16.
I have a guitarist friend who would love this but he won't come anywhere near it as he knows he'd have to buy it
Feel free to point him in this direction Steve . I'd be very interested in a Les Paul, or a Geddy or Marcus Jazz plus some cash.
17. It's a beautiful thing as you can see........... I don't have the Bigsby B6C I'm afraid, and that's reflected in the price. They can be picked up for as little as 80 quid on ebay.
18. Thanks for that. Yeah I'm a big fan too, Brian Setzer, Richard Hawley, and did you see Crowded House on Jools Holland? Neil Finn was playing a stunning Duo Jet I think, it sounded fantastic.
19. Trade wise I'd be interested in a Jazz or Stingray maybe? WHYG?
20. 1992 Gretsch Tennessee Rose, Filtertrons, original case. Stunning guitar in very nice condition for it's age. A few light marks here and there and a couple of small dings but nothing major, and only light rash on the back. Proper F holes not the painted on ones the newer models have. Tone to die for. The previous owner removed the Bigsby B6C and replaced it with a hard tail which I prefer. These go for well over a grand used, but I'd like £850, and I'll do my best to drive it to you within reason. Beautiful guitar, but I need some cash or another bass, so it has to go. GONE !!
21. This is my favourite bass, out of the very many I've played over the years, this one is the best of the best. First time I picked it up I could feel the vibe before I even plugged it in. Pure quality. Plug it in and you're away with the fairies, absolute magic. Power, tone, versitility, craftsmanship all rolled in to one. I can't stress enough how much I love this bass, and how gutted I am that I'll never own it .
