Well......I'm going to defend the design....... I think they look good actually, not everyone's cup of tea, but they're different, and I know for a fact that they do appeal to younger players. I think if the QC was sorted they'd be getting a better press from folks. I'll reserve judgement until I've had one in my hands on that, but in terms of [i]design[/i] alone, I really like them. A lot of people hate Bongos, purely because of the design, but it's an outstanding bass. Of course I'm not comparing the Fleabass to a Musicman in terms of quality, but from a [i]design[/i] point of view, the Fleabass is pleasing on the eye, [i]to me[/i], it's just a shame that Flea's made some promises with regard to the QC, that to be honest, we all knew he couldn't possibly follow up. Shame, I really wanted it to be a good bass, maybe they'll sort out the teething problems.

Well, I'm yet to see one in the flesh, but I'm disappointed with the comments, my daughter [i]really[/i] wants one for christmas.

It's funny, I've been a bit uninspired by her latest stuff too. BIG fan of her sound and style, how long ago was "The Way" released? It's still my favourite tune, but a fair bit of her other stuff doesn't do it for me.

I do like Marleaux basses, and that's no exception. Very very nice.

Nice old basses, but £800?? No way, although I've seen them going for not much less than that in mint and original condition. In [i]my[/i] opinion, they're worth around £400. Prices for older gear are just going mad, or rather the people paying those prices are.

Nice. That's a sexy looking Rick there sir. Question about the action....Surely the action needs to be quite low on a fretless, to keep the intonation in check? Don't know mind, never had a fretless for more than 5 minutes. I fancy a fretless Jazz, Jaco style, so I just wondered how important the action was?

Won't be easy, finding original tuners. I remember my BB3000S had a dodgy tuner too, but I never did find a replacement for it. Keep your eyes on ebay, both here and in the US, and you might get lucky.

I understood the new Precisions were a return to form for Fender ? I've heard some glowing reports on the '09 models, I guess QC can still be an issue.

Marvellous stuff, but for me, Tina Weymouth was the first female funk/pop bass player I knew about in the late 70s. Not many peoples Idea of true funk of course, but Talking Heads were [i]sooooo[/i] funky, and Tina & Chris (Frantz) drove them along with some very simple but effective grooves. In fact it was listening to Tina that made me realize that simple basslines, with lots of space, can be much more powerful than a lot of twidly fiddly stuff.

Well of course, Alan's beautiful Shuker, seen above, is a steal, so I'd jump on that if I had the cash. On the Fender front, I've had a Geddy, a Marcus Miller, a Highway One, and now an older late 80s Japanese Fender Jazz. I honestly couldn't fault any of them. The H1 was a cracker, but I think the first Marcus I had was the best of them all, it was superb in every way. For me, any of the Japanese made Fenders I've had have been absolutely faultless.
