1.
Phew! In my opinion, nicer (even) than your 1965 Precision as it looks like it has been played and enjoyed. You have one hell of a bass collection!
Took the words out of my mouth. Jaw dropping stuff.
2. Why do all the good gigs have to be in London. It's grim oop north tha nos.
3. Both my basses are in Ritter bags, I swear by them. The cheaper ones are decent bags, but the top of the range ones (can't remember the code number) are brillant. I think my best one was about £90 at the time.
4. Another point I'd make is that during many MANY deals and transactions I've been involved in on Basschat, I have never, not once, had a problem. The vast majority of people here are the salt of the earth, even if we do disagree on music etc, we're all good people and here for the right reasons, to talk about bass guitars, and buy and sell to and from like minded people. Basschat is a great place to be, and a valuable resource for all of us, but just remember there are one or two bad eggs in all walks of life, and here's no different, just be vigilant when sending valuable gear or cash around the country. Again, for what it's worth, I don't believe Jamie is a bad agg, I think he's backed himself into a corner and got into a mess, but hopefully it's soon to be sorted. Live and let live, it takes a big man to forgive a small man's faults.
5. I also believe in response to this, that Jamie, once payment has been made, should be given the benefit of the doubt and left alone. He's obviously got himself into a mess and is proposing to do the right thing. Let's hope that happens, and forget the whole nasty incident. Just remember folks, be very careful buying and selling to people you don't know. Check feedback and ask lots of questions. Hopefully a happy ending.
6.
Is it worth talking to the police again, if this guy is advertising the bass for sale surely he is now trying to sell stolen goods which is a criminal matter rather than a civil matter? You have proof that a contract was made. Just a thought
Trouble is the goods aren't stolen in the eyes of the police. They can't do anything.
7. Glad you like it pal, it's a whole lot of bass that.
8. Surely someone will buy this soon??? It's a beauty.
9. Man......that's a beautiful bass guitar, same age as me too, so I feel that I should be the rightful owner? You're very lucky, and I'm very jealous.
10. I just ordered myself some 64s for an incoming jazz, for that trad jazz tone.
11. Here's my old partsocastor; Originally a Korean Squier, the only original parts now is the body and bridge. The neck is a mexican neck bought separately from ebay, as is the scratchplate and controls. The tuners are Gotohs, and you can see the original holes where the old tuners were; The best part are the pickups. FABULOUS fENDER Texas Specials, made in the USA, and the bees knees tone wise. Cons: Made up of various parts, holes visible on headstock from old tuners, body really battered. It was dropped at some point by it's previous ownwer, putting a crack in the paint along the body. The inside of the body has been crudely butchered under the pickguard at some point, perhaps for a humbucker at some point. Pros; It plays and sounds absolutely great. The Texas Specials are the best strat pickups for me. The Gotoh tuners are great, and the neck is a really nice example if you don't mind the holes where the old tuners were, other than the holes, it has minimal wear. A players guitar, and by no means in perfect nick, but it really does play and sound awesome, and honestly, I've had it many years, and will miss it, I've done many gigs with it over the years. GONE.
12. I bought a ticket for the Barbican in London to see Marcus Miller on his Tutu revisited tour. The date is Sunday 22nd Nov, the same day as the Manchester Bassday which I'm already going to, so, I have to miss out on Marcus. The seat is on the front row of the circle, and so should be a great place to see the gig, and surely the best sound. Face value £25, and I'll even throw my parking voucher in for free. NOW SOLD.
13. Great deep tone from the bass, it's hard to beat a nice upright sound, very impressed.
14.
I'll be up soon for a dabble
Me too. Another Jazz on its way in, which should be interesting once it's sorted out. Love the Spectors mate, superb. Of course the water cured one is a stunner, but I'm looking forward to a go on the white one too.
15. Lovely bass, and a top bloke to deal with too.
16. Any chance of more pics, they're very small.
17. 64s are the traditional jazz sound, and the ones I prefer. 84s are bigger and darker sounding due to the extra windings. Don't know about the Hammers. Bridge wise, I'm not convinced that changing the bridge makes a big difference, but others will disagree. Start with the Wizards and take it from there, I don't think you'll need to change anything else on it to be honest. Of course, if you're feeling flush, drop a John East J Retro EQ into too, and you've got a monster on your hands.
18. Pics of it have been on here before haven't they? Anyway, how could anyone not love that? It's gorgeous. Some lucky swine will get it, best of luck.
