1. I'm sure I've seen a picture of Les Claypool with a banjo bass no??
2.
I'd recommend DR Low Riders, they arent very high tension at all, even though HI-Beams are even lower tension, put they have a fantastic tone- loads of lovely mid grind that I think would really suit you sir!
+100 I have Lo Riders on the Kinal, and they sing and growl like the Boothen End at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Brilliant strings. Warwick Black Labels are great too, but more abrasive on the fingers.
3.
Why do so many people struggle with the intro to this jaunty tune by the popular beat combo Kings of Leon? It's not hard really
We do it too, no problems with it really. I think it's a good song, and it seems to go down well, especially at the end of the set when everyone's hammered, they stand up and sing the chorus with us, pint glasses in the air.
4. Well, what an interesting evening. The band has sorted out it's problems, we had a blinding rehearsal tonight and really tore the place up. The Kinal was jaw dropping. For some reason it sounded, and played better than any bass I've ever heard tonight, it was absolutely blistering. We all had smiles on our faces for the first time in months. So, for that reason, I'm withdrawing it from sale. Thanks for all the interest.
5. I so want this, but I've got to shift my own first.
6. Ever had the urge to quit? Every day at the moment. I also gave up bass for a long period. I started in my teens, but switched to guitar in my early 20's. There was a gap of around 15 years before I bought myself another bass, and for the last 10 years I'd never looked back, until recently, and I've thought about jacking in music all together. I decided that I'd always have at least one bass and one guitar about the place somewhere, to pick up when the mood took me. As it stands I'm still gigging in a band, but for how much longer is debatable. If you get tired of playing an instrument, whatever it is, my advice is put it away somewhere safe, don't sell it, because you will come back to it some day.
7. Ha... I'm in the midst of a reunion right now. I was the singer in a metal band in the 80's. We did the Friday Rock show on Radio 1 in '86, and dear old Tommy Vance was very kind with his compliments. It came to an end in the late 80's for various reasons, and we went our separate ways. 20 years later, we all got together for a drink and to reminisce about old times. It was great to see the boys again, and of course it ended up with a jam arranged. The bass player hadn't touched a bass since our last gig 20 years before, so it was rusty, but the bones were still there, and I could still hit the notes too which was a bonus. It's been great fun, and we plan to do a one off gig later in the year, just to let our kids come and take the piss out of their old dads wearing spandex again. As long as it's seen just as a fun thing, without any pressure, I'd highly recommend it.
8. I just downloaded Aja a week or two ago, so I've broken my 'Dan Duck'. I'm liking it a lot.
9. Fantastic, cool vid and a great song. About 500 years ago, I made a video with a band I was in, and it was ruddy awful, not a patch on yours. I was the singer back then, and my miming was horrendous. I even had the leather trousers and a bullet belt, what a gimp.
10. PM replied to..yes, the strings are brand new DR Lo Riders, and I'm very impressed with them, really nice to play and great tone.
11.
I'd love to be there but it clashes with the London Jazz Festival and a certain Mr Marcus Miller playing his special Miles Davis 'Tutu' tribute on the closing night of the fest (at the Barbican)
Yeah, I have the same dilema. I've got a ticket for the Marcus Miller gig too, but missing Adam Nitti just a few miles down the road from where I live??? Gah.....what to do?? I missed last years bass day, I don't want to miss it again!
12. The Maruszczcyk is fabulous, I'm tempted myself, I know how well it plays, and the G&L too, brilliant basses.
13. How much are you after for them individually sir? That K5 used to be mine, and I might want it back, it's a really nice bass.
14. Well.....this is all making ME feel MUCH better to be honest, because most of you lot seem to be worse than me!! I feel great now. I'm off to the for sale section...............
15. Price dropped. No-one got an SR5 they want to trade? Perhaps a nice P bass?
16. Rayman

GONE

Wish I could get her back .
17. Bump
18. Nice to see the red faced Simms getting an outing Steve, how did it perform?
19. Beautiful....good choice.
20. Thanks fellas. Trade wise my prefered choices would be something along the lines of: Stingray 5 or a US Precision Deluxe, I'm open to ideas.........I just need some cash on top to get me out of a hole. OOH.... and if anyone has a nice old Yamaha BB3000S, or better still a couple of old BBs, I'd be very interested in that. SR5 is favourite at this time.
21.
since joining this site my relationship with my credit card is getting a little tense, seeing Sei's, Fodera's, Jaydee's, Pangborn's etc. is giving me strange urges.
Don't start me on credit cards, I'm lucky to have a wife who would remove my cobblers with a rusty spoon if I started buying stuff on a card, otherwise I'd be in debt up to my eyeballs.
22. It'll be this earlier version than the one above.............
23. New pictures..........
24. I've had a couple of PMs on this bass, the story is, it's still available for the right deal. I could really do with raising some cash, so if the asking price is out of reach then a trade plus cash is possible. I'd like a Stingray 5, so I'd ask for the 'ray plus a couple of hundred quid. That's the kind of deal I'm after. Cash is still prefered though. The bass is simply wonderful, and my only reason for moving it on is purely to raise some cash.
