1. Sorry to hear that mate, hope it turns up.
2. OUTSTANDING !! Beautiful that is.
3. That's sic baby (he says in a young persons kind of way).
4. I've tried a few Sandys, and they'e all been brilliant. I must admit to being keen on one myself. I like the "stressed" ones too, not everyone's bag, but definately mine. I mean............that's just ruddy marvelous that is.
5. Ship Inn, Beech Lane, Macclesfield, tonight, Saturday 24th Jan. Turn up, I'll buy you a pint. Russ.
6. Perfect my son, perfect. That's all you'll ever need, right there.
7.
The things people do in the name of "art". Twat.
Quite. I thought I was the only one who thought the same.
8. The Stuart Zender Warwick looks very nice, but I'm still surprised there actually is one. Warwick don't seem to be the easiest company to work with by all accounts, and Stuart hasn't even been using one for some time. Any road, it looks smart enough.

I've had a few of the old 70s/80s BBs, awesome basses. My 3000S was maybe the best all round bass I've ever owned, wish I still had it. The current range of BBs are brilliant too, I've been very impressed with the ones I've tried. Re: the pickguard, sorry, I think that looks hideous. Just my opinion.
10. First GAS was the Gretsch I just bought, but the GAS never ends with me, it's an eternal circle of hell.
11. Bakers Vaults or the Thatched House spring to mind. We've never played either for some reason. Also the Nags Head or the Millstone in Macclesfield are keen on tribute bands etc.
12. I'm loving some of these basses, here's mine: Gretsch Thunder Jet. No F holes, but it is semi hollow, and rather splendid. I really fancy one of those Dean Cabbies.
13. Personally I feel you should play anything you like if it makes you happy. I don't give a toss what the staff or anyone else in the shop thinks, I'm the customer after all. I love to hear some good slap and pop if it's played well (I can't do it), but you can't beat a nice simple funk riff for example, and that's what I use, the same riff on all the basses I try. Wayne plays a good punk style riff because that's his bag, and that's what you should do, play your thing, after all that's what you'll be doing when you get the thing home.
14.
the dude in new model army (morrow) would be worth looking
Stuart Morrow was brilliant. I've got "Vengeance" somewhere, smart album.
15. I have got to see your ZZ top band Doc. Is Dr Blue involved in the Colne festival this year? Why don't you go in a new direction Al? Dub reggae? Metal? You could wear a wig.
16.
No disrespect to Burnel, but dunno about single-handedly. J. Entwistle, C. Squire, B. Foxton and others all did their bit to make it an instrument fit for heroes.
Yeah, I wouldn't say single handedly either, all bass players over the years have coloured modern music in some way, even Sid Vicious. Bruce Foxton is another very influential player from the early punk era.
17. Walk On By, I love that song. Along with Shipbuilding by Elvis Costello, maybe my favourite songs ever. Honestly, bollocks to Marcus Miller style lead bass, give me Jean's chugging, simple powerhouse bass on 5 minutes and I'm in heaven. UK punk at it's all time best. In my opinion of course.
18.
played my first gig with the fellow. Honestly i thought he was alright but never understood why people rave bout him.
Because he's one of the most influential bass players this country, with the help of france, has ever produced. Did he not play some amazing lead bass solo to stun and amaze you with his lightning fast technique? What a surprise.

Gone!

Oooh I'd love this, they're great basses, and seem to be in vogue at the moment.
20. Everyone's entitled to their opinions of course, and yes I'm 43 and the late 70's early 80's were my apprenticeship, but all I'd say is, have some respect for someone like Jean, who is a very talented and influential bass player, regardless of if you know about him or not. It matters not if it's Charlie Mingus, John Paul Jones, Mark King or Robert Trujillo you're into, they're all top class musicians who deserve some respect. Jean and others like Tina Weymouth and Colin Moulding were my inspiration to start playing in the early 80's, and I love them all dearly for that.
21.
Please let me have first dibs if you ever decide to move this on Rayman.............
No problem mate. Many of the regulars on here know how many basses I go through. Will this one be a keeper?? Who knows? It's certainly the most valuable bass I've had, and probably the most unusual. Personally I could just sit and look at it all day.
22.
Awesome, what does the pot on the horn do?
That's the master volume. There's individual pup volumes and a tone pot, three way pup switch of course and a master volume.
23. You're very welcome Steve mate, anytime.
