1. H1 Jazz is a great bass. All my other basses have come and gone, stingrays, Marcus Millers, Geddys, Ibanez etc etc, but the H1 is still by my side, and paired up with my Singray at last nights gig, they were both just awesome. I particularly enjoyed last nights gig as I could crank the amp up and really drive the tone. Together with the Pro 400, the H1 and the 'ray are just brilliant. Enough said.
2. I like these simple, classy rigs. If I could've afforded to, I'd have gone that way myself recently, but opted for a 2x10 combo. I've said it before, all you really need is a nice bass you're comfy with, a good quality rig and a cord and you're ready to go. Either one of these last two setups would've been perfect for me. I have a Stingray and a Jazz too, and I'd love either of those last two rigs to go with them.
3. Robbie Shakespeare is one of my heroes: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=RdAa2ktmWFc Fender Jazz and TI flats would be my choice, with the top end rolled off. Otherwise, as metioned by Rasta, the Steinberger bat bass has been a popular choice by many, and the Hohner B2a is meant to be a good compromise. This lad plays plenty off vids on youtube via a Precision in the reggae style: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=mpLrdYYooLI
4. Doesn't get much better than that set up mate, very nice.
5. GAHH! Why haven't I ever got any money?
6. Basswise I can only go off what I've heard, good quality stuff from Ibanez. If you can find a nice jazz for instance at a good price, I'd jump on it. In fact, I've been on the look out for one myself for some time. I did have a Cimar lead guitar many years ago, and it was really very very nice indeed. Well made, great player and a great sound. I seem to remember it being a version of the Roadstar. If one comes up on the bay, you'll have to fight me for it .
7. That's a rather tasty bit'o'kit. Nice price too, won't be around long.
8. Wish I could. It's my ambition to own a Wal one day, but sadly not at this time. Good luck with it.
9.
I have a DJ 4 fitted with aeros which I recently put a J retro into. Passive it was a very good sounding bass but the J retro has transformed it. What I find really useful is how the sweepable mid makes it easy to eq for different rooms. I was saving up for a NYC Sadowsky but I've put that on hold since fitting the J retro - I don't honestly think I can justify the outlay when my DJ sounds so good now.
I had this bass before Ray. My favourite tone passive was all up full on the pots, then back the neck pup back by around a quarter of a turn. Lovely jazz honk, and to me, every bit as nice as the JO I used to have with the Fralins in it. Truely superb bass, I just couldn't resist Rays' Stingray.
10. Tiny pub, but a great gig, good crowd and really up for it. Pity about the pic taken on a phone. Best gig in a while last night. Fiday night we'd played to a crowd of heavy rockers (we're not heavy rock), but they clapped politely bless 'em.
11. Stick some pictures up pal, you'll get more interest. Think of this for sale section as a shop window, no pics, no interest. Good luck.

13.
But very pleased Colin Moulding has had a vote above - he would be number 4 and is very underrated IMO
Ditto. XTC are pound for pound the best band the UK has ever produced. IMO of course. Colin and JJ are the reason I started playing in the early 80s.
14. It's a lovely bass, but I can't see many people paying a couple of grand for a Stingray, as much as I love them. If you were in the UK, and were asking for offers around the high hundreds, and I had that kind of money, I'd be contacting you, but it's a negative on all those points for me. Very very nice bass, and I wish you luck in selling it.
15. Stuart Zender Marcus Miller Jean Jaques Burnel
16. Anyone turns up and mentions Basschat, I'll buy you a pint.
17. Now that's a rig. I'll have that and the white Precision from ezbass for christmas....................thanks very much mummy.
18. Deaf bassist #3 hear...sorry here. I feel a Talkbass style club coming on. Nice P bass, very nice indeed.
19. One other thing I'd add........ Find a really good Fender Precison, a good reliable amp you like, and a decent cable to hook them up, and your done. No effects, no 5 stringers, no nothing, your done.
20.
One of the Fender's that did catch my eye was the Highway 1, but again I've heard some bad things about the bridge
My Highway 1 jazz is a great bass, but heavily modded. For me, I'd still be looking for a good MIJ with US pups, or a used US one. Just because it says Made in USA on it, doesn't mean it's going to be good though. I played an awful one off the wall in PMT the other day, it was really uninspiring, but a Squier sat next to it, was a lovely player. All I can say is, every Japanese Fender I've ever played has had a soul, a vibe. They all played nice, and were well put together. I can't say that about all the US ones of tried. A good US made Fender is as good as it gets for me, but they're not all good, so beware. Pity about the one you just missed, but that just shows how good they are, you snooze, you loose.
21.
Would you be able to get the yammie back, or have you lost track of it?
Lost track Ped . Nice fella called guy who bought it from me back in the Bassworld days, no idea if he comes here or not. I really should have clung on to that one with both hands. It came from Linzdavbass on Bassworld I think, top quality bass guitar, regardless of its monetary value. I challenge anyone to show me a bass of ANY value that was a better bass than that Yamaha.
22. There's a MIJ 70's RI Precision with US pups in it on sale on here. I think that bass is your answer. I, by the way, have no connection with the seller at all, it's just what I'd buy, if I was you.
