1. I'm underwhelmed too. I agree with NJ, should be much more seductive IMO, it's sterile looking and still a bit clunky.
2. What a stunner...............someone's going to be a very happy bunny after buying this.
3. Sorry for the slow replys to this one folks, but I did get a couple of irritating time wasters who said they were up for it and never turned up, that slowed things down quite a bit. The band have now found a bass player, so thanks anyway.
4. There's absolutely nothing wrong with Elvis Presley, what's wrong with him? I saw the original Vegas band when they toured a couple of years back, with Jerry Sheff playing bass, and the fantastic James Burton on guitar. Great night, great songs. Sounds like a hoot Al, I remember you telling me about it a couple of weeks ago. It'll be a hoot at the gig itself I'm sure. Pity about the drumming situation, any chance Mick will come back?
5.
Hi Rayman If Stagefright are still looking for a bass player. could you please pass on my contact details - [email protected] and tel: 07802 730133 I live in the Preston/Blackpool area but travel to Manchester most days - I can be available for rehearsing and gigging around the Warrington area. I used to play with a Manchester band and contacted Stagefright once about 3 years ago (I think) when we couldn't take a gig. I can supply more details if Stagefright are interested Cheers LAnce
Hi Lance, sorry for the slow reply mate. I'll check with them to find out where they're up to, it's been a couple of weeks since I spoke to them, and they had a couple of bassists trying out for them last weekend I think. I'll certainly put you in touch with them if they're still looking.
6.
Much less corporate, & not just concerned with instruments that feature in this year's catalogue: http://www.ibanezcollectors.com/forum Could do with a few more bassists. Jon.
This is a good one, very knowledgable blokes, German or dutch I seem to remember, but helped me a lot when I was asking about a 70s Ibanez 2366B Precision I had at the time.
7. Superb. Very nice colour that too, and with the Markbass rig you've got a cracking set up there.
8. Very, very, very nice.
9. Superb basses. I love my K5 to death.
10. Dave, that's wicked pal, and probably now as good as many current US models. My MIM Precision, as I've repeated endlessly elswhere, was by far the best Precision I've ever played, admitedly modded to the hilt, like yours, but marvelous none the less.
11. Niiiiiiiiiiice I'll bring a heavy pick to the bash so that I can give the Vigier a good thrashing !!
12. Too many decent basses for his talentless hands to cope with. Average player, can keep time while throwing in the odd fill, but generally sticks to his roots. Clueless when it comes to theory. Thinks he can slap a bit, but really only has one slap riff to "show off" with when people are watching. Constantly suffers from Gear Aquisition Syndrome, never 100% happy with what he's got, although he doesn't deserve any of the nice basses he already has, because he's such a bone idle bum, who thinks the grass is always greener on the other side. That's me.
13. Very nice indeed sir. I'm hoping to have a go on it next week if it doesn't sell first.
14.
OLP? Is it back from the shop yet? heh
No mate, it's in a queue, it could be the end of the month before it appears.
15. One word.................."Villex". http://villex.com/pickups.html
16. "Miles" - Miles Davis Autobiography. Fascinating stuff, and even though I'm a jazz trumpet fan, this would be a good read for anyone I reckon. Also, "Chalkhills and Children" - The XTC biography by Chris Twomey. Andy Partridge is an English treasure, and is greatly underrated, as is Colin Moulding, one of my favourite bass players.
17.
A nice set of ex's and a very sweet looking daughter. I don't think I could remember all mine and my daughter's a bit older, like 25!
Ha ha, yeah she was only maybe 3 there, she's 7 now.
18.
I think I'd blow up the server if I posted mine
Matt, I remember that Q6, nice that was.
19. I thought it might be fun to post pics of all the basses I've had, but sold/traded on. I don't have any of these anymore, but wish I'd still got most of them: Yamaha BB1100S: Epiphone Thunderbird: 80s Yamaha BB3000S: 70s Ibanez Precision: Fender Precision Deluxe: Lakland Skyline JO4: 70s Yamaha BB400S Fretless: Daughter (still got her) holding Modded MIM Fender Precision: Wish I still had 'em all. What do you wish you'd kept?
20. Had a play on it yesterday, very nice bass indeed, that body looks even better in the flesh.
21.
Ahhh so your russ! Id be really interested to have a tinkle on your Levin Sig when its out from the shop. This calls for another bash!
Yes mate, no problem, once it's back from having the Villex pup dropped in it, and new nut and pots, it should be a stormer.
22.
I absolutely fell in love with Russ's Black/maple Stingray 2 EQ, my dream Ray. My offer still stands btw
Ha ha, I'm still thinking about it mate. I'll bring the ray round when I get up there in the next week or two. Really enjoyed today, a lot. Great friendly atmosphere, no egos, great people and great gear, what more could you want. Particularly good to see Skelf and Ped, long way for them to come, top blokes. Bass of the day for me was the Sadowsky, just stunning that was, but there were some amazing basses there, and now I'm all gassed up again, thanks for that folks.
