1.
I had one and it was a beauty! Superb build quality and sounded brilliant. You won't regret it (although the tuners were not the best)
+1 Japanese Fenders are superb, and like the Marcus Miller jazz, the only downside is the tuners, replace them and enjoy.
2. Marcus Miller Jazz and a Fender Precision are the two I'd like now, although I'd like an Epiphone Jack Casady too, that Rumblekat a couple of posts up is nice.

charvel

That Charvel's great, what a looker, and I bet the Dark Star sounds great too. I must admit, I'd like a semi, I quite fancied an Epi Jack Casady, there's a nice black one on the bay right now, but as usual, I'm skint.
4. Tommy Shannon's a great bass player to learn from. Any of Stevie Ray Vaughan's albums will give you some of the best blues bass you're likely to hear.
5. That's very nice, looks a bit like the Victor Bailey jazz doesn't it?
6. It's a simillar situation to a friend of mine, who has a Yamaha TRB 6, it sound fantastic in a practise situation, but live it had no punch at all. The Barts should be up the task from my experience, maybe John East is your answer, alternatively, you could look at Vilex pickups and electrics, the difference in tone once the Vilex pups and booster are put in is supposed to be nothing short of miraculous, but they're pricey, and I don't know if they make a 6 string setup.
7. Has anyone tried a "Westbury" bass? I've had the guitar version in the past, and that was a real cracker, but I've only ever seen one bass on ebay a long time ago. The Westone basses were great, I think they're under valued today. That Thunder 3 is fabulous.
8. They look great, especially the sequoia natural 6, very nice. I've always fancied a 6 stringer, but never had the balls to go for it. I've tried a couple off the wall in various shops, but that just made me wonder if I was up to it. I tried a nice Yamaha TRB 6, and that was nice, but like you, I couldn't afford it.
9. Hi all, I've been hovering in the shadows a while, so I thought I'd better join in, it looks like a good crack. I'm into all kinds of music, dub, jazz, funk, rock, whatever I'm in the mood for. Bass wise, I've got a Jazz and a Stingray, no effects though, I'm quite a traditional kinda guy, just a bass, a lead and an amp that's me. I'm hoping to get an upright at some point too, I'm a bit of a rockabilly fan, although I'm still working on my quiff. See y'all around at some point.
